You can label this as politics but it was a chance for us all to come together in a funny way.
We don't discuss politics at all with one sister and her husband. They are republican and the rest of the family is pretty staunchly democrat. I love them but I don't agree with them especially now.
We had a family gathering for my nephew's birthday the other day and his wife came in and said "The way things are going, I would vote for Mitt Romney." Immediately, I was like, we don't talk politics! Then I said "Well, George Bush doesn't look so bad now." Then my Republican BIL said, "I'd vote for Bill Clinton because we need to move more toward the center."
I was so impressed and heartened by our conversation. No one bashed anyone and we all came together in a brief moment of camaraderie.
