Good morning.
This morning will be very nice. I have a video appointment and then my mom friends are coming over to see my new living room and visit. We're in the middle of a heavy duty heat wave and I'm going to stay in the air conditioned house.
I want to finish my puzzle, if possible. I'm not doing much else, because of the extreme heat. I'm a baby when it comes to heat.
Dinner is rechauffe chicken fajitas.
What's on your menu?
What's everyone doing today?
Who has a garden this summer and what are you growing? Dh is doing peppers of all sorts, zucchini, yellow squash, cucumbers, a few types of tomatoes, both snap and snow peas, scallions and I'm doing corn. We have a good herb garden, too. Unfortunately, we also have squirrels. Did I mention that?
**GypsyGirl**, how is your husband today? I'm thinking discharge thoughts for tmw. How are you?
sueg, I'm thinking about your ddil and wishing her peace and healing.
May today bring lots of happiness to everyone.

It's already 81° in the house so it's time to turn on the AC. At least another week of this ~ 109 today. And fires ~ they're popping up all over the place. Don't know what's for dinner ~ heading to Raley's now. DS is coming up on Friday for 4 days so I've got those meals planned out. Stay cool and hydrated everyone!

It's gonna be brutal here, as well cadoodlebug. It's an A/C day for sure. Scoot over Snoopy. I'm joining you. I feel for the people who are in line w/the fires. Enjoy your time w/your ds. Perhaps you could pick up a new family game while you're out?

scrapmaven All of those veggies sound so good! I'd love to have a garden one day, but it's a little difficult right now since we are apartment dwellers. cadoodlebug I think we're supposed to have a feels like temp of around 100 tomorrow... DH talked about going to a baseball game, but I'm not sure what we'll wind up doing. I had my chest x-ray this morning. I got there at 8, they called me back just after 8:30 (when they start doing x-rays), and I was on my way within 5 minutes. The radiologist's report was already done at 9:15. No signs of pneumonia, so that's a good thing. I also got the EBV bloodwork back: - The EBV Ab VCA, IgM result was negative (indicating "no detectable IgM antibody to EBV-VCA is present") - The EBV Ab VCA, IgG was positive (positive is anything over 21.9, and my result was 103) (from online, "indicates that someone has been infected with Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) at some point in the past or is currently infected") - The EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG was also positive (positive is anything over 21.9, my result was 452) (per the internet, "High levels of EBNA IgG antibodies could indicate that the body is actively fighting the EBV") 🤨 So it sounds like I had an infection, or my body is still fighting something... I'm waiting to hear back directly from my doctor, but 452 definitely raised my eyebrows this morning. Still waiting on the throat culture too... What a fun time.

scrapmaven. Enjoy your visit with your friends today. I’m like you when it’s this hot unless I’m next to a pool I’m in the house. No garden here. My dad used to grow his own tomatoes, peppers, and mainly garlic and fresh garlic is awesome. We are lucky that there are some farmers markets nearby.

Happy Wednesday!
I'm hoping to finish up reporting today so I can start on social when I get back from the holiday. We only work a half day on Friday so that's nice.
Tonight, I'm going to play Bingo at our local Tex-Mex place. I think there are 12 of us at our table and winners get $50 so hopefully we'll have some good odds.
Hope you all have a great day!

rymeswithpurple , If it's EBV that can take time to feel better. When do you talk to the doctor? Are you more tired than usual, too? I hope that they found the answers you need.
christine58, you must miss your dad's garden. Garlic would be a good veggie to grow in an earth box.
Tearisci, I'll root for your table. Before COVID ods and I went to play BINGO. Up until then I had never won a BINGO game in my life.It was sort of a family joke. I lost all the time in elementary school. Well, I won a $500 jackpot. Unfortunately, I had to share w/3 other winners. Ods knows that I can't win at BINGO. When I called out BINGO he told me to shush, cause that wasn't funny.

scrapmaven I don't have a follow-up appointment scheduled yet, but I'll probably message her once the rest of the results come in. I also have an ENT referral scheduled for next week as well. I have definitely been more tired lately. Ugh. What a pain.

rymeswithpurple, have you ever had mono? W/mono it has to run it's course and that time can vary from person to person. I've been wondering if you have it, but I'm not a medical professional and I would never arm chair diagnose you. Whatever it is, I hope that you recover fast. It's been too long.

Because you plant the clove of an actual garlic bulb in the fall. Fresh garlic is to die for. I’m not a tomato eater but the summer he grew summer squash was heaven.

I am just hanging out this morning ... it's cloudy and windy and cool outside ... kind of depressing for July. My dd's are getting their hair cut at 12:30 and then they are coming over here and we are going to THE MALL! . . We will have lunch and shop ... Emma wants a few things which is fine but she is a browser which Molly and I are not so it should be interesting! Speaking of Molly ... matchmaking update! The lady in my building who has the single cute son Molly's age is going to show him her photos when she returns from her weekend away ... she thinks Molly is gorgeous ... I hope he does too! Her ds is actually going to be home this weekend so I don't have to take care of her cat ... I told her I would do it anytime because "Bean" is super cute! No idea what dinner will be ... Those are some concerning test results rymeswithpurple ... I hope you can get everything figured out soon!

christine58 , I'll have to discuss this w/dh. We live not to far from a profuse garlic growing area, but being able to pick it from the back yard would be awesome, because I use a lot of garlic. rymeswithpurple , please let us know when you get results. I'll be thinking healing thoughts.
leannec, "Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match"... I hope that this is a match made in heaven.

scrapmaven, leannec Seriously... so insane. But thank you! I'll definitely keep the group updated. (Also, leannec, if you weren't 39 hours away, I'd have you cat sit for us! Alas, the distance is a little much.)

We have off Thursday and Friday, which is a great thing. I did not mention this last week, but a childhood friend (who's mom was my mom's best friend and stayed with my mom until the end) died suddenly on the 25th. He is my age,52. All of us (my sister, his sister, me and him) all played together when they lived across the alley. We were FB friends and had messaged each other from time to time. I am in shock. There are too many unexpected deaths going on here and I am just floating along, feeling lost. Since my dad has died, there have been 3 other deaths close to me (my Aunt (Dad's sister), my bff's mom, and now Mike). Last Sunday I watched a movie that was a happy-ish ending and I cried ugly cried for the next half hour and then all during the day I would just start to tear up. Grief is a real pain in the ss . Anyway, looking forward to some time away from work and people. Sorry to be a downer today but thanks for letting me type this out.

Sorry to be a downer today but thanks for letting me type this out. You can always open up to us ... you know that! Hugs to you! When I hear of people younger than me (I'm 57) passing away it really puts things into perspective ... makes you thankful in a lot of ways ...

scrappert sorry for your loss. {{{HUGS}}} I'm off today but have no plans for anything today. It's just too hot to be doing anything outdoors. The painters are still working on the house. So far I'm loving the way it looks, can't wait when they are all done. No idea what's for dinner. We might have sandwiches.

leannec - we are having similar weather, but with added rain. I can’t believe how wet it has been this summer so far! scrappert - my condolences on your loss. rymeswithpurple - I hope you get some proper answers soon and a good treatment plan. I haven’t done much today. Someone posted a link to a video on the craft thread, which took me down a rabbit hole for a while and I’ve been watching the Wimbledon tennis while crocheting this afternoon. DH came home from work really early this afternoon. He came back from his work trip last night, two days early, because he isn’t feeling well. He’s done a couple of Covid tests - all negative - so we’re not sure what he has, but he’s really fatigued and has bad cold symptoms. We have a small garden - raised wooden boxes and a lot of tubs. We have normal and cherry tomatoes, mini cucumbers, small and regular peppers and lots of herbs. Some of the herbs are in tonight’s dinner! Dinner tonight is That yellow curry with chicken, vegetables and Thai herbs. It is simmering away on the stove and smells wonderful.

We're in the middle of a heavy duty heat wave and I'm going to stay in the air conditioned house. Enjoy your time with friends! We are going to visit some friends tonight too. Who has a garden this summer and what are you growing? We have a garden for the first time. We are growing two different varieties of tomatoes, two different variety of bell peppers, zucchini, snap beans and cucumbers. My herbs are wild. I'm growing basil, rosemary, oregano, cilantro, thyme, dill, and parsley. I also have a blueberry bush but it's not doing so hot. Everything else is growing like crazy. Unfortunately, we also have squirrels. Did I mention that? The squirrels here seem to be leaving everything alone. But I have a groundhog. He likes to eat cucumber plants. We are trying to deter him but we may have to trap him and release him somewhere else. I'm waiting to hear back directly from my doctor, but 452 definitely raised my eyebrows this morning. I hope this is the path to diagnosis and treatment. Fingers crossed. "Matchmaker matchmaker make me a match" I haven't seen Fiddler on the Roof for like 25 years! It's one I don't have on DVD. I should download it one afternoon and watch. Last Sunday I watched a movie that was a happy-ish ending and I cried ugly cried for the next half hour and then all during the day I would just start to tear up. Grief is a real pain in the ss . I'm sorry. I know. It's awful. Big hugs. We are supposed to see some friends tonight. They are up from Tennessee and did an Airbnb on a lake near our hometown. We were supposed to go out to eat. Well, not many restaurants in that area have anything vegan. I picked a restaurant and the two of them + Jeremy were like, yeah, no. Apparently I could eat, but it was too artsy for their palates. So they want to have a BBQ. Which means, meat. I will take another lentil burger out of the freezer. I'm quite sick of lentil burgers though as I've already had them twice this week. I have just returned from the store and I'm going to make a big salad to take. I'm also going to give a go to a vegan chocolate cream pie. I am lucky as my afternoon is going to be slow, slow, slow. So I'm going in there to hit it right now.

It's a fun game that takes strategy. rymeswithpurple I hope they can figure it out quickly so you can feel better soon. scrappert, I'm sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Big hugs.

The heatwave has returned. DH and I went for a short bike ride this morning before it got too hot.
Today is my mom’s 82nd birthday. She is coming over for a barbeque with us and my brother and SIL. Nothing fancy just burgers or dogs, macaroni salad, taco salad, beans and chips. I also bought a Dairy Queen ice cream pizza for dessert.
Thinking of those dealing with loss, sickness, grief and all the peas who are so supportive to others.

I will be busy today with a variety of things, not limited to prepping for my sister’s big 4th/BBQ/ping pong tournament tomorrow. There’s lots of rechauffe in the fridge, so I’m sure dinner will be something from there. Then I might need to make an airport run at 10:00 pm … don’t even want to talk about it. Too old for this! Maybe Uber is my friend. rymeswithpurple, yikes!! Hope you and your doctor can get your issues squared away quickly. scrappert, I’m sorry for your many losses. Grieve all you like. It’s okay to talk about it. Wishing Mr. **GypsyGirl** all the best health and a fast return home.

he will be home for dinner. I succumbed to requests and bought gr beef for hamburgers for my dd, impossible burgers for dh, and buns and frozen fries. I will have scrambled eggs or left over chicken. salad and fruit for all.
got to the gym this morning and back working on sister in law's photo album. almost done!!
take care all.. every day is a gift!!

scrappert. I know how you feel. When my dad died at the beginning of 2020 before Covid hit, there were many tragedies there after that were not even related to Covid. my great nephew died shortly after birth, a good friend of my brothers died. My neighbor across the street, fell down her stairs and died, and then my cousin‘s wife died in the fall. Sometimes I think all of that contributed to some anxiety, etc., that I had a year or so later. We have to remind ourselves that grief is not linear. I’m so sorry for your loss

ntsf , congratulations on the swanky new car. I still don't know how everything works on my car and it's a few months old. lucyg , you are allowed to say no to a 10pm airport pickup. That's a lot. scrappert , I'm so sorry that you've suffered another loss. It's so important for you to pamper and nurture yourself right now. We're here to listen. I wish I could offer (((HUGS)))). sueg , I hope that your dh feels much better, quickly and that you avoid this altogether.

Then I might need to make an airport run at 10:00 pm … don’t even want to talk about it Ugh, I hope it's Oakland and not SFO! Is Bart an option? Nope, it’s SFO. Because of course it is. This is a young woman, a friend of DD’s I’ve known since they were in college together. I wouldn’t want her taking BART alone at that hour. I’ve told her to get a Lyft, if she actually gets in tonight, which she isn’t sure will happen, anyway. Her scheduled flight got canceled and she’s currently on standby for a later flight. My DD’s friends who live up in Humboldt county with her often drive down here when they’re traveling, leave their car at my house, and fly out of one of our airports. There’s a small airport in Arcata, but it’s expensive and not very convenient to fly out of it.
