Where I lived for 18 years we drank the tap water and it was wonderful. Only used the fridge dispenser filter. Then we moved To a rental house while building and used bottled water - tap for cooking. Now we are at our own house with well and I am disappointed I think the water tastes weird. It’s safe- we test it. But we’re drinking bottled water. I use it for ice and cooking. Maybe I’ll get used to it.

My tap water tastes horrible. I rarely use it for cooking, unless I am boiling water for something. But, I do use it when making my beloved iced tea daily. If I use all bottled water, it’s too clean tasting. I need a little, very little grit to it. Not grit as in dirty, as in taste. So, I use about 4 to 1 bottled water, tap when making my tea. It took me awhile, but I figured it out.

I am blessed to live in San Francisco. that gets its water from yosemite snowmelt. so the water is soft and even sold as bottle water and we just drink tap water. I grew up in seattle which also relies on snowmelt..

Yes, our water is just fine.
I worked for 10 years in a town that had water that tasted awful. It was so bad I brought my water from home just for my cold water cup to use during the day.
Laney, that water in your sink--I would not drink that. I would not even want to wash clothes in it either.

I do drink my tap water. I have seen the water quality reports and I have no qualms about it. it tastes good too. I fill up a water bottle when I leave the house too. I do not drink bottled water and I get pissed at the quantity of bottled water other people drink because I feel like not only are my state's natural resources being exploited for profit to fill those bottles but the bottles themselves are an environmental nightmare.
My first husband and I had a house with a well. The water tasted bad. We rented a water machine and had home delivery of those huge 10 gallon jugs. This was a win in my mind because the delivery man would come pick them up and the company would refill them. This was before bottled water was so proliferate. I think it cost us $25 a month. I wish everyone who didn't want to drink their tap water was forced to have water delivery of these refillable jugs and bottled water was illegal.
Yes, yes, I feel incredibly strongly about it. 😂

My town, or I should say parts of my town has really bad water (there's a FB page devoted to it and Erin Brockovich has commented on it), comes out of the tap brown. Where I am, I've never had brown water but I did install a whole house filter years ago (and before that had water delivered) because I was very concerned about what I couldn't see. I also have a life straw water dispenser in the fridge that I got once I went on immune suppressing drugs. Overkill? Probably but I'm fine with it.

I used to drink tap water growing up. When I moved to Pensacola, the tap water tasted funny, so I switched to bottled water. I'm glad I did, because there are cancer clusters in Pensacola, and I wonder if it is linked to the tap water. There are a number of chemical processing plants in the area, and who knows if it's impacted the ground water.

I drink the tap water, no problem. Mine tastes fine.
When I took the 8th graders to DC, they were in their hotel rooms for the night. One of the girls asked if she could break curfew to buy some bottled water. I told her to drink it out of the tap. She was appalled.

Like the other UK peas, my water is good, we don't filter, just use straight from the tap.

Yes, yes, I feel incredibly strongly about it Me too, I hate buying bottled water. We pay a deposit on plastic bottles here and return them to the supermarket for a refund, it's helping massively with getting people to recycle but I wish it wasn't necessary.

We drink our tap water but we're from the generation who drank out of the hose. DH works with a lady who is 30 and has never had tap water. We were under a boil water advisory for 48 hours recently. I boiled a lot of water. I told DH I felt like I should be wearing a bonnet.

In Michigan we pay deposit on pop cans and it has been a resounding success as far as recycling goes. But nothing on bottled water. I'd totally get on board with that. With that said, your tap water is atrocious. I'm sorry. You do need an alternative.

I should point out that it isn't always like that, some days it's perfectly clear. We still don't drink it but we do laundry, boil it, filter it for cooking etc.

Yes. Rocky Mountain Spring water. It tastes wonderful compared to many areas I have traveled. I also retired from a 4 Service Utility, which included water, so I might be a bit bias.

Our area is known for having good tap water. We drink it, however we like our water really cold so we use a Brita pitcher in the fridge to make that happen.

I tried to when I first moved in but there is an overwhelming chemical smell when you run the water. Even when I shower in the morning you just smell chemicals. I bought a Pur pitcher and filter it then it's fine.

Yep. I've been drinking my city's tap water my whole life. When I'm outside doing yard work I will drink it right out of the hose.

I am the only one in my house who drinks directly from the tap. I think it tastes fine, but the rest of my household says no. Water reports are fine, though it is a little hard. I have friends who work for the local water district and they say our water does great in regional and nationwide competitions. I’m sure that info is in a pamphlet in my bill but I don’t usually read those. I have a friend who has been in this country for 30 years (he’s from Syria), and just found out that people across the USA can drink tap. It’s wild that he never knew.

That's one of the many things I loved about our recent trip to Scandinavia, Finland and Iceland. I could fill my water bottle from the tap. Ours is safe but tastes a bit off so I use a Brita filter jug for drinking water. Switched over from the huge cases of bottled water from Costco about 5 years or so ago.

Yes. Tumwater, Washington. I guess we are known for our water in these parts - made great beer 😊. I’ve never had a reason not to trust it, and it always tastes fine to me.

One of the girls asked if she could break curfew to buy some bottled water. I told her to drink it out of the tap. She was appalled. I don’t blame her. Hotel tap water is always nasty. 🤮 We used to have decent tap water in the city for quite a long time, but at one point it started smelling fishy so we got a water cooler for the house that takes those 5 gallon bottles of spring water and that’s what we’ve used ever since. Now that we live where there’s well water, I can taste the difference and I don’t like it. It’s hard and full of minerals that scale up the faucets and stain the toilets. I use it for cooking but not for general drinking. At the cabin we have a fridge that filters it for chilled water and ice through the door, so I’m good with that.

Our water is safe to drink and I will drink it in a pinch, but I prefer the flavor of the water filtered through our fridge.
I generally only buy a couple of cases of bottled water as emergency supply at the beginning of hurricane season.
