I feel like an idiot but I am not sure on the best course of action.
I had a little selection of cherry tomatoes from the garden sitting on the counter. I wasn't paying attention and a package of raw chicken spilled some juice and it landed on one of the tomatoes. I immediately rinsed the tomato off and set it aside. Is it safe to eat? Do I need to wash it with soap? Throw it away? I feel like I might be overreacting but I am not sure I want to eat that tomato now.

If you washed it right away it should be fine.

One Cherry tomato? Throw it away. It might be fine, but it is one cherry tomato. Not worth the risk.

I agree with Lurkingpea. It's one tomato, sacrifice it. If you are insistent on eating it, then yeah, I would definitely soap and water it. It's probably fine, but the cost/risk isn't worth it to me!

One single cherry tomato? Toss it. As someone who recently had a foodborne illness, trust me when I say YOU DONT WANT THAT!!!

But it's a cherry tomato I grew and I only have 3! I'm going to toss it.

Wash it off and keep and eat.. Any you'd buy at the store you have no clue what's it has touched, you wash em and eat em.. I’m with Gracie. The world is so much dirtier than we think of it as being. Lord only knows what horrifying substances we ingest every day. Wash it and eat it.
