UPDATE I don't have the time to cook them so I froze them. There was no smell whatsoever.
I just realized the package of breasts I bought the other day have a Use or Freeze date of yesterday. I haven't opened them yet and they've been in the meat compartment of my refrigerator. If they don't smell bad when I open them, would you use or toss?
TIA!

My experience with chicken is that it smells quite bad when it goes past the use by date. If yours still smells normal, I would have no problem cooking it up or freezing to cook later. I have a super sensitive sense of smell thanks to my fibromyalgia so I tend to rely on it to keep me safe. You should be fine with using it less than 24 hours after the marked date.

If it smells normal I would either use it or freeze it now.

I do not freeze past expiration even if they smell fine. With no smell I would 100% cook them though.

I wouldn’t keep them in the freezer forever, though. Take them out as soon as you can and cook them thoroughly. I tend to boil stuff like that WELL and use it for soup or salad.

I freeze chicken all the time, but not if it is smelly. Things got mixed up in my freezer, so I am using chicken that I froze in 2022. It has a little freezer burn but is totally fine for something like soup, pulled chicken, really anything where it is chopped. I would not use it where the breast is served whole, like chicken piccata or something similar, due to issues with texture.
