Good morning.
Today dh and I are going to the mall. We'll probably last about an hour, because after an hour he's done. We're still having our heatwave. So, once we get home I'll be sitting at my puzzle and he'll be sitting at his computer. Dinner will be rechauffe. This is expected to go into next week and that will be punishing, because we are having all of our windows replaced next week.
At some point, I do need to do my vocal practice. I'm trying to figure out how to do that next week? I don't want to subject our window guys to those high notes. The weekend will probably just be more of the same stuff at home.
What's on your menu?
What's everyone up to today? What about this weekend?
**GypsyGirl**, how is your husband doing? How are you and your dd doing?
May this weekend bring lots of happiness, relaxation and fun.

scrapmaven Ugh, we are finally getting a 'cold front' so it will only be 90 today so I feel your pain on the heat! My poor garden just hasn't done well. Today is a half day at work for me. The company is closing at 1pm and I got all of my reports done so I'll just chill at home until then. I don't really have any idea what I'll be doing for dinner. Maybe I'll see if the parents want to go out. The rest of the family is heading to the lake for the weekend so I'll be here by myself taking care of the parents. It's really chaotic with lots of people down there so I'm happy to stay at home because I'm an introvert. Hope you all have a great day!

It has been a nice warm day here today. I decided to train into the city to get fresh seafood for dinner, as well as a few other things. I had a lovely time just wandering about and then bought fish and chips and ate in the biergarten of the food market.
Things are moving on my surgery now. Yesterday evening, I received an email from the neurosurgeon I saw last week, with an admittance and surgery dates. I will go in on Wednesday, August 7th and have the surgery the following day. Then just five minutes ago, I had a call from Nuclear medicine, who want me in on July 16th for a PET scan, which will give hem more data on the size and location of the tumour.
Dinner toniht will be seafood pasta. as well as the seafood mix, I bought fresh tagliatelle and grana padano cheese at the market.

Tearisci, have you tried shading your veggies? Dh shaded our veggies and that really helped. Enjoy your day. sueg, I wish you didn't have to go through any of this. You're such a lovely woman and you bring so much kindness and warmth to our tribe. I will think healing and easy recovery thoughts for you. You're also a tough cookie. Plan some fun stuff before surgery and afterwards once you have an idea of recovery times. I'm gonna be by your cyber side. If you ever need to grumble or just be heard PM me.

What's everyone up to today? What about this weekend? Today is eh. I have an overdue library book. So I'm thinking I'll run there at lunch time today. I have to go to the car dealership. Apparently there was some kind of hack at the company who handles like a bunch of title issues for most car dealerships. I knew this when I bought my car. So everything had to be done manually. I need to go in there and sign something having to do with the title today. They finally got it back from the state. Like I said, it was something that couldn't be transmitted electronically because of this hack or whatever. But that's like half hour away. Yuck! I'm a pretty spoiled baby that nearly every thing that I need is within a 10 minute drive. So going 30 miles there and 30 miles back is yuck. But that will be after work. I also have to pick up cat food. Apparently my cats didn't eat for a week and then last night, ate the whole bowl. Sigh. Cats are so different than dogs. They eat a subscription diet so that will entail me stopping into the vet. I'd like to go to the quilt store. I bought material the other day for a Christmas quilt and then I was like, I didn't buy any fabric to back or bind. Stupid girl that I am. So I need to get there before what I want is gone. And finally, as per usual, I have no food in my house. I think I want pasta. With lots of veggies. Like summer squash and zucchini. Asparagus. Red peppers. That just sounds delicious to me.

sueg I am glad things are moving along for you. We are headed to my brothers home about 45 minutes from here for Fourth of July picnic. His son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren will be there as they are moving back to the Buffalo area thank God. Nick is in the National Guard and was looking at a deployment at this point can’t say anything else. But they needed to be here and not in Stafford Virginia. His government job will be held for him while he’s gone down the road. My brother’s daughter is here and we haven’t seen her in a while. My other brother and his wife and daughter will be there so it’s gonna be a nice time. I think the menu is burgers and hotdogs and chicken and who knows what else

jeremysgirl, it sucks that you have to drive out to the dealership for a paperwork issue. Grrrr. Is there a fun store or restaurant that you enjoy out that way? I hope that today gets better for you unexpectedly. I also hope that your weekend is extra nice. We're re-titling Yds's car and it's ridiculous. The DMV keeps asking us to send more and more paperwork. Instead of requesting everything up front they keep sending more requests. I'm not going to the DMV for apathy and long lines. ntsf, 70 sounds like heaven. Enjoy your day.

We are still having a heatwave but expecting rain today so that might cool it down or…make it more humid!
Nothing exciting happening here today. I just celebrated 3 years of being retired and it’s exactly what I thought and wanted it to be … a whole lot of doing what I want, when I want.
Supper will be leftover steak from the other night perhaps mixed with mac and cheese.

Morning! Made it through the night with the dogs and fireworks. Ugh. 4th of July is my least favorite holiday. I have today off as well so it’s a nice 4 day weekend. Having a quiet morning and enjoying my coffee and planning the day and rest of the weekend. Per usual in the Pacific Northwest, now that the 4th is over, summer is here and we have beautiful weather this week. All sun and upper 70s -that really as high as I like it so it’s perfect for me. PNW summers making living here worth it. LOL Honestly the gray days don’t bother me, they just made it more special when the sun does make its appearance. Today I am going to be a homebody - cleaning up a bit, scrapping, playing and walking with the dogs outside and baking - I have some bananas begging to be made into banana bread. Hope you all have a lovely day. Thinking of you sueg.

**GypsyGirl**, how is your husband doing? How are you and your dd doing? He was released on Tuesday evening and is at home now. For the time being he is on oxygen and using a walker until he gets his strength back. Still very little energy and vision not back to 100%. At least the double vision is gone. His PT/trainer will come to the house on Monday to get him back on track strength-wise. She worked wonders for him after he had Covid 19 and his surgeries last year. Because he kept that up the doctors say he's very healthy otherwise. This is just going to take time to clear his system. I noticed that the Rx they gave us have only 1 refill, so hopefully 4-8 weeks will do the trick. He will be going on to short term disability as soon as he uses up his vacation time, DD is doing fine. She is still in Rome and checks in daily. I am handling it for the most part but my anxiety has kicked into high gear so I have a request in to my GP for something to take the edge off. We discussed the situation in May so she is aware. I think once I get that and some more sleep I'll be able to tackle it. Thanks for checking in. Will try to check in a bit more but it's hard right now.

sueg...I'm glad you finally have a surgery date....Thinking of you all the time (((HUGS)))
I am making the NYT recipe I never made last week...It is Shrimp linguine with herbs, corn and arugula, only I am adapting it and will use the basil as I have lots from my garden, I will also use baby spinach as DH in not a fan of arugula, and I think I'LL use cherry tomatoes instead of corn....I really don't want to cut kernels of ears of corn...and red tomatoes will be more colorful!!!
Today is DH's BD so I went out and got "Birthday" muffins for him, and yes I put a candle in one for him. I am having a small gathering of some family tomorrow for a little celebration, Of course he is the one smoking the ribs and a brisket I picked up yesterday. I'll make the cole slaw and Kellee will make potato salad And of course there will be cake!!!

DS will be arriving in about 2 hours ~ he's here until Tuesday as that is DH's birthday. Tonight we'll be having our favorite strawberry, greens, snap peas, etc. salad! Perfect for this blasted heat. We're supposed to hit 108° today and 110° tomorrow. TGIF!! Happy Birthday to your DH karenlou!

Is there a fun store or restaurant that you enjoy out that way? No, I think the car dealership is the biggest business in that little town. Seriously, it's nowheresville. Hang in there **GypsyGirl**. I'm glad he's home with you, but I understand how caretakers can really struggle. Big hugs.

(((Hugs))) and prayers sueg and **GypsyGirl**We're under a heat advisory yet again today - even for Florida, it's been oppressively hot and humid. Dinner tonight is popcorn shrimp (fish fingers for DD17 who won't eat the shrimp), roasted vegetables, and watermelon. We're struggling to keep up on watermelon so I think I'm going to try freezing some and making sorbet or sherbet. There's only three of us (and DD leaves on Thurs) and we're not even halfway through last week's watermelon and our farm box brought another today. I am enjoying the weekly farm box - this week had onions, tomatoes, corn, watermelon, acorn squash, peaches, cubanero peppers, and mini eggplants (which sorry jeremysgirl - I'm sending with DH to work to rehome - I can not face more eggplant right now) - but we still have quite a bit left from last week and even some from the week before. I aim to use the more perishable and older first. DH worked yesterday but is off today so we're going to do the grocery shopping a day early

If I was your neighbor, I'd take those eggplants right off your hands and I would be super happy to give them to you. I did offer to local friend but her response was she "can't eggplant". There's a table in the breakroom at DH's job where people put items (often but not always food) to giveaway so that's where they are headed.

Hey all. Trying to get a handle on the weeding as it's so out of hand after being neglected while we were on vacation. Not sure what's for dinner. Maybe pork fajitas. No weekend plans, maybe do a bit of shopping with my daughter for work clothes. It's a super casual lab, so she can really wear anything. But she's one who likes to dress up a bit anyway, and figures if she's spiffy it'll boost her confidence.

Nothing exciting happening here today. I just celebrated 3 years of being retired and it’s exactly what I thought and wanted it to be … a whole lot of doing what I want, when I want. I am LOVING retirement! Even though I still work a bit during the school year it is low stress and I get the summers off! I am doing a bit of laundry today and that will be the extent of my activity! I don't know if anyone caught my post yesterday ... something interesting is happening tonight so I'll paste it here again: So I have an honest-to-goodness-actually-going-to-happen date tomorrow night (Friday) with a really good looking, gainfully employed, guy my age! He even chose the restaurant and made the reservation ... and chose a swanky place! I have been wanting to go there for a long time ... now I'm stressing about what I should wear Luckily, it is Stampede week here in Calgary so people will be pretty casual ... I bought some gorgeous suede cowboy boots the other day that I think I will wear. I'll let you know on Saturday how it goes! I checked out the menu online ... yum! No idea what I will choose ... Thinking positive thoughts for you sueg and **GypsyGirl**!

We had a catastophic failure of our pellet grill and by extension, of our pork butt. (Liquid got into the chamber where the pellets smoke and everything got compacted. We were finally able to take it apart and clear the blockage, but the ignitor was just...gone. we searched and searched for it and neber did find it.) So last night we had Little Caesars (🤢) and ordered a new grill. Tonight I will figure out how to cook the marinated chicken that I bought yesterday- do you think oven or stovetop or some other way?
We will have the spaghetti salad and baked beans that I made yesterday.

paget, having grown up in seattle, my old theory of summer seattle weather.. beautiful in may, rainy as soon as school is out in june, iffy til about July 15, then lovely summer weather with one or so week of rain sometime in august..
sept and oct lovely, then the rains hit between end of oct and thanksgiving. and the outdoors are so close, no use sitting around in the grey skies.. get out and do something.

Have a wonderful time leannec ! If nothing else, you’ll have a lovely meal. I’ve been at my mom’s for the past 4 days. Two days were spent getting everything ready for our family’s annual 4th picnic. It’s at Mom’s house and includes about 40 family and friends. Yesterday morning my mom fell getting out of bed and cut her leg quite badly. I took her to the ER and spent the next 6 hours with her there. They wouldn’t release her because her BP was elevated so by the time we got home the picnic was just about over. But she is on the mend so that’s all I really care about. I’m home now and plan on doing absolutely nothing for the rest of the day. Dinner is anything that doesn’t take effort.
