That was a fun memory lane looking at some orders. My first order was textbooks for me- first couple of orders. And then some cookbooks. Fun to See Christmas gifts and then textbooks for dd1 in college, etc.

March 1999 Canyon Ranch Cookbook. All the other orders that year were were DVDs or cookbooks. Some of the DVDs I really wonder about because I don’t think I bought them neither do I think my husband did. It’s really weird.

My Painted House, My Chicken, and Me by Maya Angelou in 1996
I can choose dates back to 1995, but those book orders aren’t showing. I was a very early adopter, so 1995 is probably right. I just don’t remember which books I ordered.

I have 2009 as an option in my dropdown, but it’s not pulling any orders for some reason. So, the oldest order I can see is in 2010, for a Kindle.
I have placed 55 physical orders so far in 2024, and an additional 38 orders for digital media.

1995 A nursing book so I could obtain my first nursing certification! The book was a 1st edition and used cost me 12.79 and shipping was $2.29. Todays they are on something like the twelfth or thirteenth Edith and used that book goes for over $200! Shipping is free with prime, but not really since you pay and annual fee, which of course we use so much, each package probably cost about 25 cents!

My oldest order was made in Jan 2011, a laptop, mouse and printer.
We still use the printer.
Eta just checked, Amazon opened in the UK in 1998, so 26 years old here. Still took me some time to place an order though!

On my Amazon.de account, my first order is from May 2010 which makes sense as we moved here January that year. It was 3 books - two on sock knitting, something I took up after moving somewhere where it gets really cold - and one on Sophie Scholl and The White Rose - a student led, Nazi resistance group - as we were told about them and saw the memorial at the university here on a walking tour - and I wanted to know more.
I am sure I ordered from US Amazon when we were in Australia, but I ca’t log in there as I’ve forgotten my password.

It was 2006 and I ordered a book as a gift for a friend in Wales. I was living in Singapore.
I didn't order anything for myself until 2007.

2006. wow, clearly I was a late adopter. lol "A Guide to Writing Sociology Papers". Worst class I had taken up to that point. ugh. edited to say that I feel like I must have used Amazon before 2006. I think I had an old account and switched when I got Prime. Because by 2006 I had two young children and as much as I hate in-store shopping now, I know I hated it even more if I had to drag kids with me.

What a great topic. I think I may document this somewhere. My earliest order is April 2006, though there is an empty folder for 2005. This is probably correct; I really sort of railed against Amazon even as a bookstore for some reason. Here's what I finally surrendered and ordered: IMG_4595 by Seanna., on Flickr

2004 - A Flash drive for $299! Looks like the ExH was ordering a lot around then. I kept the Amazon account in the divorce because I had so many books I didn't want to lose.

My first order was a book in 2001--looks like for one of my kids. Next order was 2011--another couple of books. Misc orders over the years, only 6 so far this year.

Mine was “The Land Development Handbook” in 1998. Why in the world would I order an engineering book for $123?!? Also, shipping was delayed and has not shipped yet. Think I should cancel the order? 😂😂

My history shows books about twin pregnancy ordered in 1999, but I know for a fact that I ordered some baby board books as early as 1997. It's possible that we ordered with a different account way back then? Anyway, I know it was '97 because I recall moms in the baby group trying to guilt me for not supporting brick and mortar stores, but I was pregnant with baby #2 and throwing up all day every day, so just ordering books for my almost 2 year old son was wonderful.

August 1, 2002 I ordered a collar tag for my dog and paid $3.99 shipping. For whatever reason, I turned around and ordered another one on August 2, 2022. I'm pretty certain we only had one dog at the time so I have no idea why. Sadly, I can no longer see the order details so it shall remain a mystery.

When I look at my account it is some sort of bag that is no longer available that I ordered in 2000. But I think my mom had an account before me so I must have purchased some items via her account.

A book. If I think for awhile I will remember the title. It was a NF. I was shocked because I ordered it about midnight on Saturday and it arrived on Monday morning.
ETA: It was around 1995 -96-maybe 1997. I can't find it because I changed the email associated with the account so I'm not able to bring up the book title.

I was a big fan of Claudine Hellmuth.
