Right now the Texas Gulf Coast seems to be in the most danger.

ABC News NY has a local reporter from KTRK(?) in Sargent TX saying they are expected to take a direct hit. Looking at her map it looks directly south of Houston...
Wishing every one safety!!

Per our local weather guys, the worst of it is upon us. We lost power about an hour ago. Fortunately we have a gas stove so I was able to heat water for coffee (French press) and tea.
Once the rain stops, hopefully early afternoon, we can get out the generator and at least plug in the fridge and some fans.
Hope everyone else is doing well!

I'm hoping my family is ok. I'm in Northern Michigan at the moment, and I haven't been able to get in touch with either DH or DS - both live in the Heights. It's still early there though, so hopefully they are just sleeping through it. Some of my neighbors are complaining that their corner homes are swaying which is a little disconcerting. My Ting is still online so that means we still have power. I'm sure the major nuisance will be flooding.
My ex-FIL has a home in Sargent Beach, but he overbuilt the crap out of that thing, so I am sure it will be fine.
Stay safe everyone!

My BIL's dad lives in Kingwood and had a branch come through his roof last night. Stay safe S. Texas peas! We have good friends that live in Kingwood. When we were pulling the RV out of Port Aransas on Saturday, they offered to drive over and get our golf cart and take it to their house where it would be safe. We were leaving so told them thanks but we'll just have to leave it and hope for the best. This morning we are laughing that maybe we should have been heading their way to help them. Their power has been out for several hours now and they have lots of wind and rain. She was hearing trees snapping this morning. Stay safe, Peas in the path!

My Nephew and his family are supposed to be in Port Aransas this week but they're going to stay one night in San Antonio first so hopefully the storm will be well past them by tomorrow. Good thing you were able to get your RV out!

Good thing you were able to get your RV out! Everything should be back to normal tomorrow. A lot of things are still closed today but the storm basically skipped Port A completely. The ferries started running again this morning at 6 AM and the mandatory visitor evacuation order will expire at noon today. Good call to give it another day. I hope they have a great time!!

My birth family, lots of sister and extended family were in the path. So far, the only reports I have heard are broken limbs and power outages. One sister had her power restored at 4 PM. The others will probably be without power for days as broken power poles are involved.

SE Houston here. I'm lucky to live near both a fire station and the regional centerpoint repair/maintenance facility. Our power was off for around 12 hours. Only damage at my place is the coax line running from the pole to the house got pulled down. I use fiber which is fine so it will stay as is until the ground dries a little to support a ladder. Street flooded but I could still see the crest of it in front of the house.
I hope everyone still without power gets it restored quickly. July without AC in SE TX is NO fun.

No power at our house and our portable generator stopped working, so our fridge and freezer is a loss.
By extreme coincidence, DH’s company was bringing in several out of country employees this week for a meeting and had reserved a lovely block of hotel rooms downtown, in a hotel that happens to accept dogs. The employees’ flights were canceled, so DH, his business partner, their marketing manager and one of the software architects are all staying here. We spent the night in air conditioned comfort with our dogs and can be here til Friday if needed.
(My oldest daughter may disagree with the comfort part as she spent the night on the couch in our room, but it was better than staying in her hot, dark apartment.)

That is lucky.
One sister went to her son's home, where there is AC. Another stayed in her house with her cats in the heat.
Rest are suffering with no power.
