I was really disappointed after watching Season 3, but after stepping back and reading some reviews and discussions, I found more positives.
I love the Faks, but I was so over having them on with the "haunting" for so long. It felt forced and unnecessary.
I don't understand why Syd is so important. I don't know why that chef wants her to work for him. I haven't seen her step up and lead with confidence at any point. I don't see growth in her character.
Hoping Carmy can exercise his demons after confronting the evil chef.

I wasn't nuts about this season as it was more atmospheric and not really plot driven. I did enjoy the episode where Sugar is in the hospital in labor and the only person that she can get hold of is her mom. That was a sweet episode.
Also, this is the best line in the season:
You spent $11k on butter?! It's Orwellian It's dystopian butter?!

I love the Faks, but I was so over having them on with the "haunting" for so long. It felt forced and unnecessary. Absolutely. So many scenes just went on too long like the stupid haunting. When Carmy and Richie were shouting at each other, it was like the director said, "Just yell 'f*&k you' at each other until one of you thinks of something to say." The whole thing was bloated. Fun fact, or "Fak" if you will..the actor, Matty Matheson who plays Neil Fak is a famous chef and cooking show host who joined the show as a culinary consultant. He owns 11 restaurants in Canada and was the executive chef at Parts & Labour in Toronto until it closed.

All of his growth was lost season 3.

I agree that I was not as engaged in season 3. I went back and binged the first two seasons before watching the third one. I had forgotten how stressful the show made me feel. Too much pointless yelling. Just fire Richie and move on. He doesn’t contribute anything of value and causes the most stress and upheaval. I also found the whole Fak haunting business tiring and unnecessary. I realized that I am not enjoying this series near as much as I thought I would. I think that last season will be my last season.

We also binged 1 and 2. Season 2 was so good with character development. Other than Tina's story, there wasn't much happening here. It was if the writers didn't have enough story so we have Fak filler.

I agree with almost everything said here.
They wasted too much time with the Faks period.
There are so many times when I kept thinking back to why Sydney was hired and she was nothing special and it's like Carm put a crown her head. I don't get it. Why make her a partner? He doesn't need her to be a partner when he's doing most of the creating.
I feel sorry for Richie. He went and learned and finally got it. And then Carmy shit on him. All because none of them can talk - they can't sit and have a conversation like normal adults. They go straight to the F-YOUs! and nobody explains why they did something or why they want to make a change.
And then - the season just ends. "To be continued..." I could understand if it was going to be a half season and was coming back in a couple of months, but that was no way to end a season and then wait a year for the next. That was crap.

I'll add one more thing. I had hoped Carmy and Claire would reunite, but now no. He's too angry, volatile, and lacks self control. It's only a matter of time before he turns it on her like he did Richie. He needs to work on some things first.

I feel like since this is technically listed as a 'comedy,' that they had to put in more of the Faks. Why this is listed as a comedy rather than a drama, I have no clue.

I loved the labor and delivery episode. Jamie Lee Curtis does a fabulous job as the wacko mom. I wasn't sure if I liked the rest of the season. I prefer plot driven storylines.
I wondered if Matty Matheson was a real chef. I thought he might be. Interesting to note. He's a good actor, too.
I don't quite understand how Sydney has become a chef at an up and coming, possible Michelin Star restaurant? Wasn't she just an intern from culinary school?
I loved Jeremy Allen White's character in Shameless and I want to root for him, again. I hope the show changes course in season 4. Season 3 was almost annoying.

Very frustrated with this season - loved seeing all the food and the famous chefs. That was about it.
I just texted my son-in-law: "Interestingly, for a show about food, there was nothing to sink your teeth into."
There were no dramatic arcs for any of the characters - show me more Marcus, please! It just was very static.
I liked the episode about Tina and love any chance we can get to see Jon Bernthal, but man, it just went nowhere!
I felt like the first two seasons, every episode was its own little opera. This was kind of not good at all.... and got totally sick of the haunting and the Faks. Didn't find them amusing at all.
I literally just finished it so maybe with some thought I'll change my mind, but I really found it frustrating.

The Richie episode was my absolute favorite next to the Christmas Eve episode. I felt like they were a little full of themselves this season. Too much navel gazing.

My son-in-law just wrote to me: "The whole thing felt very high on their own supply" - so he'd agree! And yes, that Richie episode last year was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV. I loved it so much.

I think because of the Richie episode Season 2, it really made this season disappointing. He became a better person, and the only time they showed it was when he was with his ex-wife.
I want to root for Carmy, but it is difficult. I truly hope facing the evil chef makes him change direction.
I don't like filler seasons.

Carmy's attendance at the Al-Anon meetings made him someone you cared about and empathized with - would like them to work a little more on getting in his head. They kept (quickly) showing the reviews and his fears - but it wasn't enough for me. Too many montages - not enough character development. Not enough Marcus, not enough Richie - and too much Fak!
