Good Morning. Dh and I are really tired. I've mentioned that we're very close to our neighbors. Late last night our big kitty got out and was missing until we finally found him shaking in the backyard. At the same time, an ambulance and fire truck showed up next door. His wife said that paramedics said it wasn't a heart attack, but they took him to the hospital. He had a heart procedure a couple weeks ago and he's nearing 80. I'm waiting to hear from her and I just hope all is well. Her daughter's car is out front and I'm glad that they're together. They're a wonderful couple. We had to be up and at 'em, cause the window guys are coming really early due to heat.
Dinner will be takeout. I'll see what next door wants for dinner, too. Hopefully, we can at least feed them. Ods has a dentist appt, so he's gonna be here. He's gonna pick up dinner and then head back to his cool apartment. He lives in a much cooler area and he doesn't want to get up at 0'dark thirty due to the window guys. Don't blame him. What's on your menu? How is everyone doing today? lucyg, yoohoo! Please check in if you can. **GypsyGirl**, how is your hubby doing? May everyone have a peaceful, happy day!

Good evening all, It has been another really warm day here today, but about an hour ago it started getting darker and in the past few minutes there’s been thunder and lightning going off and I guess we’ll get rain soon. I had a slow morning - laundry and a couple of phone calls - then this afternoon I went to get my nails done. As it was so hot, I treated myself to a gelato on the way home. We did get some good news today. My niece and her boyfriend are expecting their first baby - a little boy - in January. DH is out for dinner again, so I have to fend for myself. I’ll either use up more of the cabbage in my fridge and make okonomyaki, or I’ll heat up one of the pizzas in the freezer.

Wow! I am sorry about your neighbor scrapmaven. I hope he is alright and you are a good neighbor taking them food. I have some neighbors that absolutely I would do the same for. I'm lucky to have good ones. I saw the dinner thread post and I was like, wow! scrapmaven sure is early today. But it's really not that early. My day is just getting away from me probably because I've already had two meetings and some coworker drama. I am resigned to it. At this point, I'm communicating to her every time she is rude, steps on my toes, and provides incorrect answers. She has been aggressive lately. Really aggressive. Something happened to light a fire under her ass that she needs to be working and so she's been stepping all over me. Her attitude is the pits. Last week, she completely boxed me out of a request from the CEO. So I stepped back. She did it wrong the first time. And then after being corrected, didn't finish it and left it for my boss to do. He was not happy. He called me on Friday and I explained to him that I had been boxed out because she was so aggressive. So I stepped back to let her handle it. Well, she didn't and he ended up with egg on his face. This morning, I was trying to gather information from one of my offices regarding a question by the CEO's office. The CEO's office reached out to both of us, not knowing whose office was whose. She answered. Incorrectly. I had it in my head that something had changed since I was given the written plan at the beginning of year, so I reached out to them to check. I was correct. I told her she had stepped on my toes by answering a question specific to me. I forwarded this all to my boss. He wanted me to communicate with her, so I did. But it's obvious to me right now she is feeling threatened. The past month or so has been really weird to go from someone not working at all to now someone trying to take everything over even things that aren't her responsibility. I'm not sure what's better or worse, being taken advantage of or being trampled on. Last night, I just wasn't in the mood to cook so I just had some chickpea cucumber salad from the fridge and two pieces of sourdough toast. Tonight I will try that gumbo.

Happy Wednesday!
It's another hot one here in Texas but I feel for my friends and family in the PNW who are having a heatwave and most homes don't have air conditioning. When I lived there, we put it in but it's not common. I'm going back to visit at the end of the month and will be sleeping in a warm room with a fan on!
I'm not sure what I'm having for dinner tonight. I have some options that will depend on if my parents come over or not. I'm going to pick up a grocery order at lunch.
Hope you all have a great day!

sueg, that's wonderful news. That baby is so fortunate to be born into your family. The baby has very sweet and cute cousins. You're due for some good news. jeremysgirl, your coworker is a real piece of work. If you're going to be aggressive, at least know what you're talking about. Stomping all over you w/the wrong answer just makes her look like a fool to everyone else. She's a menace. This stuff will get her lack of ability to do the job noticed by the other teams and the CEO. Mistakes are almost worse than not doing the work at all. Good for you for communicating your thoughts and feelings to her. Keep doing it. You're documenting her bad behavior and mistakes. Someone has to get annoyed enough to get rid of her.

I’m here! Just been crazy busy with family, friends, and trying to undo the craft hoarder situation at my house. East Coast sister left yesterday after three weeks, but she’ll be back in another month. Had dinner last night with Sarah*H and her family who are visiting NorCal from out of state. Fantastic Thai food and even better company. Maybe she will post a photo, because I still can’t make it work. scrapmaven, sorry about your neighbor’s health issue and hope all is well now. jeremysgirl, grrrrr!!

We are getting dumped on by the remnants of Beryl, so it is gloomy and rainy. I ordered ds' patio furniture from Wayfair and it listed delivery dates between the 11th and 13th which was perfect as I work from home Th-Fr and the 13th is Saturday. Three of 5 boxes are being delivered today. 🤦🏼♀️ See previous comment about the rain. So, I am wfh today as well, needing to catch the FedEx driver before he unloads so he can go around back to our garage.
Dinner tonight was supposed to be burgers, but...rain. So, I have some Just Bare chicken filets that I will make in the air fryer. We can put Buffalo sauce on them and hopefully the coleslaw mix I bought last week is still good. The date would suggest that it is, but who knows!

DS will be leaving in a little while to head back to the Bay Area. Even though it was hot, we had a nice visit for 5 days. He'll probably take a long Labor Day Weekend for another visit. Dinner will be whatever I decide when I go to Raley's. Another hot one and even hotter tomorrow. Ugh. Sorry about your neighbor scrapmaven , I hope he's okay.

My boss wrote in my annual evaluation that I communicate excellent with people outside of my unit but that my internal communication with my coworker needs work. I was horrified. He called me on Friday and we discussed this. He says he wants me to be able to advocate for myself better with her. I know I can be a pushover, so I told him I would commit to doing so.

It’s cold and rainy today as we are getting the effects of Hurricane Beryl. I’m still deck sitting but today I’m wearing a sweatshirt.
I just came back from checking on grandson #1. His mom called and asked if I would drive over and check on him. He is 12 and home by himself today. He wasn’t answering his phone and hadn’t checked in with his mom. I went over and woke him up! It was 11:15 am and he was out like a light. He’s normally up at around 7 am so this was a big sleep in for him. I helped him do his chores and then he was going to play video games online with his friends.
Due to the weather we won’t be grilling so not sure what’s for supper.

No plans for dinner yet... I called to check on my shower, it's been a month since the re-order. I guess it arrived 6/26 and 6/28 and I have not been notified. We could have (fingers crossed) worked on it during the LONG weekend last week. OMG We will go there on Friday and please send all the positive vibes, prayers, and all the good stuff that this one arrived un-broken. I honestly don't know if I can handle having to place this order for a 4th time...it is just getting ridiculous. Congrats to the new soon to be baby!! sueg

Geez scrappert I cannot believe that! You have got to be just rolling your eyes and stomping your feet! I would be. Very frustrated. Tired of taking showers at SO's mom's. Only because their house is so HOT. I have to take cold showers and quick showers. So looking forward to a warm shower and taking my time! But I won't let it get the best of me! I am still on the positive side of this.

Well today sure has gotten away from me. It's the first day in a long time I have had nothing planned. So, I have been working on some scrapbooking projects. jeremysgirl every time you post about your coworker I feel so bad for you. She is a piece of work... scrapmaven I am sorry to hear about your neighbor and hope it is nothing too serious. sueg congratulations on another soon to be addition to the family! We had 3 inches of rain overnight from the remnants of Beryl. It was much needed but there was also a lot of wind so I need to get out in the yard and pick up limbs and sticks. This morning I kept hearing a noise that I could not figure out where it was coming from or what it was. Finally I realized it was coming from the basement. We don't have a walk out basement but one end has exposed windows near the ceiling. There were 2 turkeys pecking on the windows. They finally wandered off into the woods. We are meeting my FIL for dinner tonight. We visited MIL in the nursing home Sunday and I could tell he was really depressed. He has been faithful in visiting here every single day but she is not remembering some days that he has been there so I suggested we go out. He gets to decide where but I haven't heard from him yet.

it is my dh's birthday and he started the day getting an echocardiogram. I'm getting mine this afternoon. we are driving each other to appts as the parking is tight.
very very foggy today.. we are going to the Giants baseball game tonight.. dh will get something good, I'm bringing my orange and carrots to eat. and a kind bar. ballpark food is not friendly to my diet.
he is going to his mom's house before it goes on the market next tuesday, and the realtor said she may have an offer by monday. good thing.. he will see his aunt and my brother and sister in law-- and give her the 5 albums I redid for her.
so a busy day for me. giants won last night when the catcher was unable to catch the ball.. bottom of the 9th, 2 outs... and a runner came home!!! hope they do well tonight.

ntsf , nothing beats a day or night at the park. Enjoy the game. Happy Birthday to your husband. Wishing you both normal, healthy echos. BTW-trips to the cardiologist are not considered date night. stormsts , We get turkeys in our neighborhood every now and then. They strut up the street like they own the place. It's very fun to watch them unless you're driving and in a hurry. So, neighbor update is that his heart stopped 3 times and he's in the ICU. Not sure if he's conscious or not. I don't believe in faith healing or prayer for healing. I think what's gonna happen will happen. It's not pessimism as much as it is just reality. Goes back to the old debate about why one person is saved and another dies. Anyway, I'm focused on being there whatever the outcome and helping where I can. Nothing is more important than the people we love. NOTHING!

Hi friends!
Not much to report here. I have my ENT appointment in a little over an hour, so I'll leave in about ten mins to provide time for travel, finding parking, and filling out paperwork. The joys of living in the DC metro area. (And of course, my own wanting to be there with ample time.)
I finally finished getting all of our speaker evaluations compiled, so those will be emailed out on Friday afternoon, and I'm working on adding comments to a big overall report. Our CEO got the "light" version (number data only for 270 sessions, comments AND number data for the 4 big sessions, and overall conference comments). It's a very time consuming part of my job, but one I very much enjoy.

Sorry to have disappeared for the past few days. It's been a heck of a week - and it's only Wed! Sat. I noticed DH was more lethargic than normal and he went to bed early. Sunday morning he woke up and wanted to go up front. That's when I noticed he was not wearing the oxygen canula. Short story - ended up calling 911 to take him back to Methodist ER. His CO2 level was 109! They put him on a bipap machine and started running tests. Fortunately the numbers started coming back down. He has been readmitted to the MICU and is still there. We were in ER for 12 hours and then another 2 hours before I got home. They had his numbers back to normal then they started to creep up. So since late Monday he has been intubated and sedated (he had become very agitated on Sunday and had to be restrained). Part of the problem is that his breathing isn't strong enough to keep the co2 levels normal, so they are trying to find the cause of that. All this is definitely a result of a reaction to the Keytruda. Thank goodness he was in really good physical shape before this happened. They are doing a brain MRI this afternoon (that he refused the last stay) to see what's going on and to check out the optic nerve. While his double vision is gone, he is still having a hard time opening his eyes or seeing well up close. My hope is that after they study the MRI that they will begin to wean him off the intubation. But for everyone's sake, keep the man on the happy juice - at least a low dose! Then we had a visit from Beryl. When it rains it pours! Fortunately we had our generator installed mid-June because that thing has been a godsend this week. Our neighborhood was back online after 26 hours, but I know so many more that are still without. This time only 3 of the holly trees need to be set up right. Two had been staked in May but now are going the other direction. The river birch that had been leaning over the back yard since May went on a journey. Looked out in the middle of Beryl and it was leaning over the driveway, then later it was leaning towards the house and caught on the corner. No damage but it will be history by the end of the week. Also had a pane in a kitchen window get broken by a branch from the neighbor's ash tree. Heard a big explosion before I got out of bed and came up to find glass all over the kitchen. So started Monday with clean up of that. Have the window covered and my contractor was out yesterday to get the ball rolling on a replacement pane. An offer to pay half to cut the ash tree down has been made. I hope like heck they accept it! There is so little shade it provides now that I'm not sure why they even keep. But we enjoyed the shade for 30 years so don't mind helping with the removal, even though it's not on our property. At 2 pm I have a video visit with my GP. She is going to prescribe something more long term to help with my general anxiety. What she called in over the weekend has been helpful, but I need to get ahead of this. I am having a difficult time even eating and have lost 6 lbs since June 26, which I really don't have available to lose. So any prayers, good thoughts and wishes would be most appreciated as we tackle this current hurdle. Will try to be better about checking in more frequently.

Oh, **GypsyGirl**, I am so sorry that you're going through such a whirlwind. You're doing the best thing for yourself by getting meds for anxiety. It will help you as you navigate all of this stressful stuff. Your poor dh. I hope that he's breathing on his own and well very soon. He's suffering so much and so are you. My thoughts are w/both of you. How I wish I was there to hold your hand and take you for a nice break. ((((HUGS)))).

BTW-trips to the cardiologist are not considered date night. This made me laugh out loud and I really needed a laugh. You have no idea how bad I want to board a plane to CA and laugh my head off with you. You have the best sense of humor. every time you post about your coworker I feel so bad for you. She is a piece of work... Honestly, I think I have gotten to the comedy stage of this adventure. She wants to do it, I just back off and let the chips fall like they did last week. She wants to give out wrong answers, I just correct them without any kind of emotion. She wants to overstep, I'm just going to send her emails letting her know as carefully as I can that I feel she's overstepped and then forward them to him. I'm beyond caring at this point. Bigger fish to fry. **GypsyGirl** ugh. You poor thing. It's just too much. I'm sure you are worried sick. I am glad you advocated for yourself with your doc. Anxiety under a circumstance like this is expected. And then the storm on top of it, you didn't need that. Just sending you a hug.
