Hello everyone, just an update to let you know that it’s really spotty for cell service so I was able to get on by hotspot to my phone. We still do not have electricity and hopefully by tomorrow that will happen. We have trees on lines and lines down and it a small non priority section according to center point energy but they are promising as soon as possible. Thank goodness for generators and gas stoves!
we are also on a boil notice! I feel like I am camping in my own home. At least there is the instant pots and crockpots so I don’t have to heat up too much.
i made it out to the stores yesterday and it was a frenzy! I finally found an H-E-B that had just been restocked so was able to get some meats and water but no ice. Still happy though.
Madison, my granddaughter with the liver transplant is a bit better, the released her back to the Ronald McDonald house on stronger pain meds, no rejection, just inflammation and some fluid, as to be expected. She is going in daily for an ultrasound to monitor.
That’s about it for now, going to try to wash some dishes the old fashioned way of boiling water😕😁

Thank you for the update. I hope you get power soon! Being without both power and water is awful.
Glad to hear that Madison is out of the hospital. I hope progress continues so she can go home soon.

So glad things are going a bit better all the way around. Camping in home is tough but good that you can.
Glad Madison is doing a bit better ... That the issues are routine, still makes it hard for the person having them. I hope she gets it all sorted out.

i made it out to the stores yesterday and it was a frenzy! I finally found an H-E-B that had just been restocked so was able to get some meats and water but no ice. Still happy though. I went out yesterday to drop clothes at the cleaners. The McDonalds, Shipley and Chick Fil A near my house were all closed. But Whataburger was open with quite a line! I haven't been brave enough to hit the grocery stores yet. There is plenty here to eat and I'm spending a lot of time at Methodist as it is. We were fortunate to only have minimal damage - a broken window in the kitchen and some holly trees that will need to be restaked upright. The river birch is now leaning towards the house and resting on a gutter. It will be taken down later this week. Any estimates yet on when you'll get power back? Ours came back for most of the neighborhood yesterday morning. I am very thankful that DH finally agreed to a whole house generator after the derecho and that we were able to have it installed in June. May not get a vacation for quite a while, but worth it. It's sure looking like this is our new 'normal'. Fingers crossed that your power is back soon.

All of my family (in Houston area) have power as of 1pm today. BIL is home. Medical transport had him in the van going to a care facility and turned to bring him home.
Now to clean debris and return to normal.

Thanks for the responses. I am just now getting back to a more routine pace here at the house. While Beryl didn’t do any obvious damage, she wa very sneaky and messed up the ridge row of the roofline of both the main ridge of the house and garage. It was as the roofer who did the complete new roof a little over a year and a hal ago partly there fault so they came and made the repairs for free. Fortunately no water damage to the interior of the house as the new attic insulation has a really good water barrier and moisture wicking or drain off system since attics “sweat “ in Texas. The garage was a bit differ and I have thrown out a lot of junk that should have hit the curb over the last 23 years but just got stuck in there just because…
DH is happy and so is no. 1 son, but just wait until they figure I tossed a lot of their “hidden” treasures😉
Madison is doing well, recovery is better daily. She still is at the Ronald McDonald’s house and probably will be for another 3 or so weeks. My daughter and her got the ok to have an overnight visit home this weekend and she cried saying she wasn’t sure she would ever make it home again. She had to give her rabbits back to the lady who gave them to, so she missed them. She did spend a few minutes with her chickens (gowned, gloved and masked) and that made her very happy. They don’t have to give hem away when she goes home, but she will have to gown, glove an mask for at least the next 3 months then just mask and good handwashing.
Her liver is flourishing and performing perfectly! She wrote a letter to the family of the donor and received a beautiful letter and photo in return. Someday if she wishes contact she can get in touch, but I think they told she had to be 21 and speak to the transplant team’s psychologist before that could happen.
She absolutely wants to thank everyone for the lovely cards and gifts and says she will send thank cards as soon as she figures out how to do that and as soon as she gets home. She says it’s funny because she always says thanks in person or email and didn’t know cards were so awesome but she loves them. Her mom is a scrapbooker too and Madison she is going to start making cards since they are so cool and better than emails! She really like the card that she go that could “do tricks” ( I will post the video as so as I figure out how” and has been watching YouTube’s so she can learn how.

Great to hear about Madison continuing to improve and especially that she and her Mom got to have a home visit. Sad she thought she might never get to go home. Will get another card in mail to her (alas store bought).
Also glad to hear your storm damage was not as bad as it could have been.

This update is so WONDERFUL! I’m so glad Madison got to go home for a visit and I’m glad she loved the cards.
I wish I knew how to post a picture but….I saved a Meme that says:
Handmade cards, because no one ever displays an email on the mantel, Or shows off a tweet on the refrigerator, Or saves a Facebook post in a box of treasures.
Continued prayers and thoughts for your entire family!
