I have way too many hobbies, and have had/dropped others over the years. It seems I want to try EVERYTHING. LOL But, I recently purchases a few watercolor supplies--a small set of paints, some brushes, a couple of workbooks and two small watercolor pads of paper. I know nothing about watercolor, but I am excited to try. I have an amazon order with most of it coming tomorrow. Next weekend, I am taking myself on a little staycation at a lake community not far from where I live, and I want to take the things with me and try my hand at painting.
Have you tried anything new lately? If you do watercolor, any tips/ideas to share with me?

Check out Wendy Solganik, Lou Davis in instagram. I love their style and have learned so much from them!

This year I’ve started making wax seals. I’m looking forward to making some for some art journals when time allows for both.

I love to watercolor! Here are a couple of youTube channels that teach beginners. It is the start of going down the rabbit hole on YouTube! LOL! www.youtube.com/@kristyricewww.youtube.com/@jennaraineychannelI am avoiding starting any new hobbies. I have tried a lot in the past, so there is not much more to try. Good luck on your watercolor journey! Just one tip, if anything, spend the most on paper. That can make all the difference on how easy or hard you find it to watercolor. 100% cotton is the best.

I started water coloring during the pandemic (I am the least artistic person ever) and really enjoyed it. I watched YouTube videos and mostly painted flowers and trees.
I don’t do it anymore, but I really would like to.
I don’t have any super new hobbies, but over the last couple years I have started barre, yoga and tennis…and love them all.
My kid really wants me to start snorkeling with him - but I really don’t want to haha

I tried Tai chi last week at a local taster session. It has intrigued me for a while and I did enjoy it. I’m still trying to decide whether to sign up for a course but I’m hesitating because the course starts around the time my DD is due to have a baby so I may end up missing some sessions if I go to stay with her.
I’m also potentially going to a local petanque open morning to see if that takes my fancy.
I’m not sure I’ll take up any more crafts - I have too many unfinished projects already 🫤

I have 17 potted plants on my patio, compared to 2 last summer. I’ve enjoyed fussing over them. All but a couple are eligible to be brought indoors this winter. I’ll be challenged to find places for all of them in our house.
I also have been slowly painting the risers on my stairs. Doing each one in a different bright color, sort of a rainbow up the steps.

I’m a knitter and I have recently started to try crochet. It is not going as well has I had hoped. I’m really struggling with tension. It is so much different than knitting, and for some reason no matter which method I try, it looks horrible. I don’t have any problems figuring out the stitches, so fr the ones I’ve tried have been easy. Even my chain stitches look uneven.
I’m not going to give up, I’m that stubborn, but right now it’s in time out.

My daughter bought her first house last spring, and she is so into plants. She loves them, babies them, talks to them. Takes cuttings from mine when she is here. She is most proud of a plant that she started from a leaf she picked up off the floor in the plant department at Lowes. LOL She stuck it in some dirt when she got home and it grew. She texts me all the time with photos of her plants. I love it.

Now, I rarely knit, but I love to crochet and do it almost every day. Keep at it!!

Given the extensive collection of supplies from various hobbies in my past, I really had no business starting another. Cross stitch has been my love for quite some time, and still is, but I recently took up diamond painting. It’s similar to cross stitch, but goes much faster. I love all the little sparkly, colorful bits. I can tell you that I am definitely buying at a faster pace than I am finishing, which would hold true for every craft I’ve ever done.

I know nothing about watercolor, but I am excited to try. Same here - I'm new to watercolor. Always wanted to paint but I'm not a very good artist but decided to give it a go. I've painted a couple of things. Nothing great, but I'm pretty pleased with them considering I know nothing about watercolor really. I would like to do more, but just can't seem to find the time lately.

I’ll be challenged to find places for all of them in our house. i was afraid to mention my "hobby" of gardening because i was embarrassed it didn't qualify for this question. you have empowered me. i have really enjoyed fussing over my vegetable garden this summer. i have gardened in past years but not as attentively and wholeheartedly as this year. i've loved learning about the different plants i could grow in containers, their care, how and when to prune, hand pollenating, etc. it's become a full blown hobby since the days are long and i could go out there in the mornings and early evenings. i've come to realize how therapeutic pruning can be. it appeals to my sense of order. LOL

My dad had a serious hobby as a painter—acrylics, oils, and watercolors, of which I have about 500. He was also a successful cartoonist in the 1950s and 1960s. I have a lot of creativity ( that I mostly used to make coworkers laugh) but concentrated on writing. I made a career out of writing, but was mediocre at best.
I tried to paint when I was a kid but hated acrylics and oils and I never even learned about watercolors though I love the way they look. I gave up.
Fast forward to my retirement last year and a watercolor class a neighbor wanted to take this summer. My first watercolor was horrid and I almost gave up. Then I took the colors and brushes and good paper my dad left me ,am learning the basics from YT tutorials, and I absolutely LOVE it. It feeds a part of me that I didn’t know needed feeding.
Finally I understand how all of you on here are so into your hobby’s!
Thank you all for your inspiration!

I've started making tumblers in the past year. It's a big learning curve and a huge investment in supplies but I am having so much fun! Once I felt comfortable with the tumblers I branched out and started using the same supplies to make soap dispensers out of mason jars. Next I'm going to do some holiday style rolling pins and maybe some ornaments along with staplers and scissors.

Once I started using that my watercolor journey became much more successful!

Gardening is such a therapeutic journey! i've found myself drawn to yoga more and more as i've gotten older it's a perfect blend of mindfulness and movement. What's better than nurturing plants or your own well being?
