Good morning.
I'm done for the day and I just woke up a while ago! The last window and 2 sliders will be installed today. Tmw they'll do the inside trim and then 3 days next week they will focus on outside trim, so we'll have the inside back.
My neighbor is awake and they're working on find out what is next. I'm glad that he is present and breathing on his own.
I have no idea what's for dinner. Neighbors didn't need dinner last night, but I'm on standby if they want a meal tonight. She sounds beyond exhausted. Might be Chinese takeout. They'll be working in the kitchen today and it'll be 108 at least.
What's on your menu?
**GypsyGirl**, how are you and your hubby doing? You are in my thoughts and my heart.
What's everyone up to today?
May today bring happiness, healing and peace for those who need it and lots of warm fuzzies.

scrapmaven Good to hear that your neighbor is alert and awake. Things sounded pretty touch and go! I'm working on my chocolate shop social client today. They're always fun to write for but it makes me crave something sweet! I am usually much more of a 'carb tooth' than a 'sweet tooth' but these just look so tasty. Tonight will probably be instant pot chicken and risotto. It's going to be upwards of 100 here so I don't want to heat up the house more than I have to. Wishing you all a great day!

Supposed to be upwards of 111° today and, of course, DH is playing golf. He took two bottles of Gatorade and should be finished by about 11 when it will be 95°. I'm making a quick run to Costco when they open at 9 to get a rotisserie chicken so I'll have it for Chinese Chicken Salad tomorrow. Tonight will be salmon burgers. ntsf sorry the game didn't turn out well for you and your DH.

Tearisci, I think you should tell the chocolate shop owner that you can market them on social media much easier if you sample the product. cadoodlebug, it's only gonna be 108 here. Gee, it'll feel like winter. NOT! Your meme is absolutely correct today. Stay cool indoors and enjoy your day.

Good morning! I guess those window guys are getting an early start again today? Will you be able to rest a bit scrapmaven? I am trying to decide what to do for dinner. I have two choices, basically I could make a tofu pad thai (this is what I want to do) or I could do another mixed veggie pasta (which I feel like BTDT). I keep trying to tell myself that it doesn't matter either way because I'm going to be throwing some produce out. Still, it hurts my heart to do so and so I'm trying to figure out what would create the least amount of waste. But we are leaving tomorrow afternoon, so I really have no choice. (If this was a dinner thread vote, and I'm totally not saying it is, I'm campaigning pretty hard for the pad thai.) I had only one meeting today, this morning. As soon as I saw the audit period, I knew no federal funds had been used and so we had nothing to report. It took like 5 whole minutes. And I swear to you, everyone literally cheered for me solving the problem so quickly and easily. What a way to start the day! I've got my laundry going so I can pack. Today feels like an early start to a good weekend. No complaints. I swear I will laugh in the face of adversity today. I am determined. Pad thai, pad thai, pad thai...just saying...lol.

jeremysgirl I'm not a veggie lover but will totally support you on the Pad Thai. DS makes it a lot but I never have. My go-to takeout place is ok-ish but nothing like the Asian food I'm used to in the PNW. We've got two Thai places in town and the one that is better is clear across town and they don't do delivery services so I go with the one closer. Now I'm craving Pad Thai!

I made chicken pad thai several years ago for the first time. I swear it took me forever. When it was done, Jeremy took a bowl full and went to his spot on the couch. I took my bowl to the dining room table. I am eating it thinking this is the best pad thai I have ever had, including what I've had in restaurants. I was just so impressed with my damn self. He came into the dining room and serious as a heart attack, real slowly said, "never make this again." I have been cooking for him so many years and even if he doesn't like something he is usually a good sport about it. He is grateful, tells me thank you. Will say something just wasn't his cup of tea nicely. This reaction shocked me to my core. It was so out of character for him. He felt that strongly about it. And here I was thinking I was better at Asian cooking than all the restaurants surrounding me. LOL! I love that story.

woke up to see my favorite fog.. Karl is out there (karl is the fog). off to aqua class this morning, then getting my oil changed. off to the store later, and laundry to do. dh is driving to whidbey island washington tomorrow and will spend one last night at his mom's house.
definitely thai takeout tonight.
it was law enforcement appreciation night last night at ball game.. 125 police motorcycles lined up on field, a helicopter flyover, all the law enforcement people and a special recognition for those killed in the line of duty and their families..
the giants do a lot of special groups nights.. so you never know what will be happening..

Not sure what’s for dinner. We are now at the confirmed number of tornadoes that took place here yesterday between 1230 and I want to say 7pm is THREE.
LOTS OF DAMAGE SOUTH EAST OF BUFFALO IN THE SMALL TOWN CALLED EDEN. THEY HAVE A HUGE SWEETCORN FESTIVAL EACH SUMMER WITH PROBABLY BETWEEN 50 AND 100 TYPES OF SWEETCORN. The festival has like upwards of 50 different kinds of sweetcorn and one huge farm was strayed yesterday.
ETA. I have no idea why some of that is capitalized oops

Good Morning! It's been a morning of technical issues in the office. I am not a techy so I am a bit frustrated. scrapmaven I am so happy to hear your neighbor is awake. jeremysgirl pad thai sounds delicious. DH would never eat it but I am all in. I started purging my closet last night. It is a disaster so I have to complete that task after work today so I can walk thru it. Dinner is meatloaf and hopefully fresh corn on the cob.

I don't remember where I got that recipe. I have a new one, specifically aimed at vegans to try tonight. We will see how it tastes!

It has been a long, hard day for our family. Last night, about 6:30 pm our time, DDiL texted to say they were at the hospital with her mum, who was going into kidney failure. They made the difficult decision of moving her to palliative care, and the doctor said he felt they were looking at 12-24 hours. DS rang this morning - they had taken the girls in to say goodbye to their Nonna, but nothing much had changed. I’ve just had another message from him that she seems to be in her final hours. He’s home with the girls; DDiL is with her dad and siblings keeping vigil. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.
I started the day at the doctor, getting blood tests done and getting documentation I need for my surgery. Then this afternoon, the doctor from the oral clinic called to say that - after talking to other doctors - they have decided to do an ultrasound on the lesion in my cheek and could I please come in sometime next week. He knows about my other surgery and said that is the priority right now and whatever they decide to do with the cheek problem can happen once I’ve recovered from that.
Dinner tonight is going to be burgers. I saw three patties in the freezer over the weekend and all I needed to pick up at the grocery store were buns and fresh tomatoes. It is also very quick, which I need right now.

sueg, my heart is just breaking for your ddil and especially your two little sweet granddaughters. I'm so very sorry that you're in the midst of a storm right now. Know that you have many people holding you in their thoughts. Are you in any discomfort or asymptomatic? (((((HUGS)))). christine58, I'm so sorry for everyone who's suffered damage and loss from the tornadoes. The sweet corn festival sounds fun and delicious. Do you attend? ntsf, my ods lives in a "froggy" area. He used to call say, "it's froggy outside" when we'd go to a foggy area. Now he is so used to it that he still says it. In fact, we all do. stormsts, cleaning a closet is like going down a rabbit hole. It's never ending isn't it?

sueg I am so sorry for both your DDIL and what you are dealing with with your cheek. Keeping your family in my thoughts. scrapmaven where does it end? I only worked on my clothes and shoes. Now I have to get DH to help me with his side. He had on a shirt last night when we went out to dinner that I noticed had a hole in it. He said it's been like that forever. I told him to get rid of it! He hates to get rid of ANYTHING.

scrapmaven - at this point, I am totally asymptomatic. The doctor I saw said if anything, this could affect my speech, but I haven’t noticed any difficulty with that, except for my usual issues with switching between languages! I really feel for my DDiL right now - losing the baby last week and now her mum on top of that. Lucia is fortunately too little to really understand - DS says she just keeps asking for mummy every time she wakes in the night. Sophia sort of understands that nonna is very sick and will be going to God in heaven soon, but she has always found it hard to say goodbye, even just for family visits and she just couldn’t say goodbye when she went in earlier. Luckily it is school winter break there this week, so she can stay home.

It seemed odd that you wouldn't add veggies to the pad thai.😁 I vote for Pad Thai anyway because the last time we tried to order from our Thai place, they were closed for vacation. I think Im going to choose that for dinner tomorrow.

Yesterday was the effects from Hurricane Beryl and we had crazy wind and rain all day. Today it’s blue skies and sunny.
I’m just back from a big walk and need to do some chores in the house. But first…I will cool off on the deck.
Thinking of those dealing with illness and loss.
Supper will be leftover pulled pork fries.

Happy Thursday everyone! I am fixing stuffed cheese ravioli and garlic knots for dinner. If everyone could say a prayer that my eye appointment goes well tomorrow I would appreciate it. I went last Saturday and was diagnosed with 2 different cataracts in my right eye and 1 in my left eye. Had to go back after 2 hours to pick up my new glasses and couldn't see out of them at all. The fitting lady argued with me that I wasn't looking through them right. I finally pulled my old glasses out of my purse and could see just fine with them. She checked the prescription on them and compared with new one and sure enough they are alot less strength. Of course eye doctor at this point was gone for the day. I paid over $200 for my new glasses. So called Monday to discuss with them and they said to try wearing the new ones and adjust to them. I tried them on Sunday several times and couldn't use them. They said call back Tuesday when Doctor would be in. So called Tuesday and they said they would speak with the doctor and call back. They then called back and told me that I needed to try them on again and call back. So at this point my husband asked to speak to eye doctor and they said he would call us. We waited all day and finally at 4 pm we called back and they told me it sometimes takes up to 2 weeks for people to get used to wearing and being able to see out of their nee glasses. We said that can't be true we have always been able to see right away with new glasses. They said I would have to redo the whole appointment again if I wasn't happy. We booked a different place that will exchange my glasses and fix this hopefully.

hutchfan, if insurance covered your glasses then I would call them and dispute the charges for that doctor. You have the upper hand here. Sounds like you saw a bad doc. The whole practice sounds terrible.

sueg, thinking of your family and sending lots of prayers. hutchfan, I've been wearing bifocals for decades and never once have I had to *adjust* to a new pair. When they are that off, someone screwed up! He hates to get rid of ANYTHING. I think it's a man thing. DH has tons of golf shirts/workout shirts that need to be rehomed/tossed and he says he needs them for when he's painting or doing yardwork . 30 shirts worth??
