sueg, thinking of your family and sending lots of prayers. hutchfan, I've been wearing bifocals for decades and never once have I had to *adjust* to a new pair. When they are that off, someone screwed up! He hates to get rid of ANYTHING. I think it's a man thing. DH has tons of golf shirts/workout shirts that need to be rehomed/tossed and he says he needs them for when he's painting or doing yardwork . 30 shirts worth?? I have to literally throw Jeremy's undies away when he's not looking. It's ridiculous.

If your socks have that many holes in them then why bother wearing socks? I'm looking at you yds. I even offered to buy him socks. Nope. I'm shaking my head.

We planned on pizza for dinner as I had a late platelet donation at the Red Cross, which has now been cancelled. They have serious staffing issues...this is the second time I have been cancelled in the past month. I shared with the woman that called me that I receive texts EVERY day re the platelet shortage, yet they don't have staff to collective platelets So Frustrating....I'm sure for them as well! So I think pizza is still the plan as I didn't plan anything else.
scrapmaven.. I'm glad your neighbor is awake and responding. jeremysgirl...I would love pad thai!!! sueg...Sorry to hear about your DIL's Mother ((Hugs)) hutchfan...Never have I ever heard that it takes 2 weeks to adjust to glasses that is just BS!!! So sorry you have to deal with this. stormsts...I think your DH and mine are related....I think he has every piece of clothing he ever purchased in his adult life and he is 70 something... If I throw something away he rescues it!!!

My SO is the opposite. He tosses things out that are still good. And then wonders why he has nothing to wear. Well, you didn't buy anything new before you decided to toss things out! I know I still have things, that I still wear, that are YEARS old. For sure some are 15 years old.

My husband has worn bifocals since he was 13 and that's what he told them. They insisted that my eyes were dilated and I needed that time. Yet I proved to them that I could see with my old glasses. It's beyond ridiculous at this point and I think that particular office and doctor don't want to admit they are wrong.

I have to literally throw Jeremy's undies away when he's not looking. DH had a bunch of old underwear so we took them on the trip and he threw them in the trashcan at the end of the day. Killed 2 birds with one stone.

sueg I’m sending comforting prayers to your DIL. Losing a parent is so heartbreaking even when they have lived. Full life. christine58 I’m a couple of hours south of you and we had tornado sirens going off all afternoon yesterday. It was eerie. The small Amish community directly north of us had quite a bit of damage. The weather here has cooled significantly. I decided to be lazy today so I’m snacking on fresh fruit and reading my day away.

sueg. prayers for your whole family at this difficult time..
about 1 yr ago, my dh made the decision to get rid of his suits (many custom made for him) and I got rid of them all except one black suit and his tux and his white cotton suit.
then, I went through stacks of his stuff..and he was very willing to get rid of stuff...but that's him and his family .. they can get rid of stuff easily.
though when I do show him old photos or some stuff like that he is happy to see it.. and he has his own stash of keepsakes. one I am planning to bring up from the basement his data pack from an ibm 360 computer.

It wasn't quite pad Thai. I can't quite put my finger on it. I took a bit of liberty with the sauce too extra lime, extra sriracha. Rice noodles, stir fried broccoli, red pepper and edamame, bean sprouts. Topped with microgreens, baked crispy tofu, and peanuts. It needs a name other than pad Thai. I'll never manage to make the same again. But I totally enjoyed it.

Dinner might be any of several rechauffe possibilities. If I could find some lettuce in there, I’d make a salad, but noooo … I’m going to try to get to bed early tonight. Can barely keep my eyes open. Tomorrow I will get back to work on the crafting hoard. My dad would never give anything away. Finally they lost everything in the 1991 Oakland hills fire (3500 homes burned, 25 people killed) and we said to my stepmother, “Well, that was ONE way to make him replace his awful old clothes.” 🙄 scrapmaven, glad to hear your neighbor is doing a little better. sueg, I’m so sorry about your DIL’s mother. Hope she can go peacefully and the girls can understand and accept what is happening. hutchfan, that sounds ridiculous. Hope you get satisfaction from these people. I had a new pair of glasses once that were clearly out of whack, and the optometrist’s office ordered a new pair with the correct Rx right away.

DH always wore a suit or sportscoat/slacks while showing property. Our downstairs guest closet is full of suits & sportscoats, one with the price tag still on it! I would love to donate all but his favorites and make some room in the closet. Luckily it's a walk-in so there are many Christmas boxes stored on the shelves.

omg lucy.. I was visiting ft point(under the golden gate bridge) on the day of the fire with my parents and we saw flames from there.. like 6 miles or something away!! I knew it was going to be bad.
so for all the talk of pad thai, I enjoyed chicken pad thai takeout.
since I lost all my weight, I put back in my closet three cotton blouses I got in marrakesh years ago, and a skirt and jacket--all embroidered and such that I got in 1988 in chaing mai thailand.

She had no idea at the time that she's be wearing it my wedding or that I would choose royal blue w/o ever knowing about the dress.

Update: DDiL's mum, Leonie, passed away peacefully overnight. sueg, I’m so sorry about your DIL’s mother. Hope she can go peacefully and the girls can understand and accept what is happening. It is so hard for the little ones. Lucia is barely 2, so I don't expect her to understand much. As Leonie was in a nursing home since before she was born, they have only seen her there and occasionally she's been able to come to family parties, but not always, so I guess she'll ask about Nonna a few times, then it will fade from her memory. They have been preparing Sophia for the possibility of losing a grandparent or great-grandparent (both my dad and stepmum are still alive, but at 87, we don't expect them to be with us for a long time). Our family is Catholic, so believe in a live after death with God. They have talked to her about God and heaven, at a 5YO level, so she knows that when people (or pets - Nonno's dog died a few months back) get old or vey sick, their bodies stop working and they have to go and live in heaven with God. It is a very simple explanation, but age appropriate, I think.
