How many of these did you hoard? I found it in my mom’s stash that I’m slowly helping her get rid of. This is a keeper though 🤣🤣

we have two phone lines wired into our house. dh worked for a software services company that had an internal messaging service.. we never ever had aol.. always cutting edge tech. which was not aol. he even worked from home sometimes in the late 80's.. so we had the modem on one line and our phone on the other. anyone on user groups?

I remember that trend, but I never jumped into it.

Hmmmm... I have no idea what that is. But we never had AOL, even though we had internet since 1993. My husband was/is in tech, so I remember the old days before web pages really existed. Then when they started to become more common the pages would come up on the screen line by line. I hated the internet. I had no patience for that!

I had that back in the day, then I switched to gmail and chrome. If I had any....all unnecessary office stuff was tossed, as a part of my downsizing my life plan.
Edited to add.... this thread has me thinking about the slow slow slow! days of "dial up". I would start the log on....then listen to the dial up noise, as I made a cup of tea, toast, started a load of laundry, take something out of the freezer to defrost, etc... 10-12 minutes later >> I was online.

Hmmmm... I have no idea what that is. But we never had AOL, even though we had internet since 1993. AOL used to mail disks so that you could put their software on your computer. It came with an access code for logging on to AOL. The trend was not about using AOL but it was a crafting trend to keep the tin container they came in to alter. I got the tins, and also some wooden mailers that flipped open. Pretty cool box.

Yeah we used to get those in the mail almost weekly. We had AOL for a short time, but besides that we would get these ALL the time. Tin cans, cardboard mailers. The tins were altered or used for magnetic alphabets, I think from Making Memories. In fact I still have the alphabet in a cabinet in one of those tins. I see it occasionally. I would have a stack of them and gift them to other scrappers who were using them.

My BILs sister lived at an apartment complex and his mother collected a whole chunk for me. I never ended using them and finally got rid of them. But yes, I remember them very well.

I remember them well. I started out with CompuServe on dial-up then "upgraded" to AOL later. Heck, I still use my aol email (but also created a gmail account for my professional emails.)
I remember that the late Carol Duvall did a segment on different ways to us the CD's on her crafting show. It seemed sacrilegious to throw them out!

But I do remember decorating cd cases.

Do you remember using the clear plastic ones to hold unmounted rubber stamps?

I never decorated those but I did alter several Altoids and Band Aid tins back in the day.

😂 I remember those. Had quite a collection at one time. I think they were tossed a number of years ago when I realized I wasn’t going to do anything with them.

I used to also decorate the cds! Yep, I remember adhering a small panel from a holiday fabric to one as an ornament once, and decorating some to hang outside, too!
