I’m looking to buy my dd a Le Crueset pot/pan for her birthday or maybe Christmas. I know pantsonfire is the authority on these so I’m hoping she chimes in.

My husband got a Staub Dutch oven. He did all the research and went with that over Le Creuset. Can’t tell ya why but thought I’d throw that brand out for you to consider. It was a “blemished” “second” but looks perfect to us. Huge discount. He got it from Zwilling

It was a “blemished” “second” but looks perfect to us. Huge discount. He got it from Zwilling Staub is tied with LC as far as quality and price and all that. The only 2 differences between Staub and LC are: Staub has black interior. Most do not like that because you can't see the fond develope but it gives a better sear. Staub has nubs on their lids which helps with braising. I had a previous Dutch oven with the nubs and it was a pita to clean. But they really are one in the same. Both made in France and both top of the line.

Thanks I’ll check both. We do have a LeCrueset outlet about 30 minutes from here. They are having a FTT sale too! I have bought 2 items from my local outlet in Cabazon. The people there are great and can help you find the perfect item. They can also look in their data base and ship items they find elsewhere to you if they are out. My only tip is to have them unbox it and give it a good look. Feel it as well to make sure there aren't any Knicks or scratches. The outlets have retired colors as well.
