..after hurricane Beryl
She and her household had power restored around 3:15 pm today (Sunday). Brutal 6 days in heat and humidity. She had a small generator that ran her refrigerator so she did not lose food.

My daughter did not get her power back until Saturday, so she came up here to Central Texas and stayed with me for a few nights. She works from home, so she could work here as well as in Houston.
There was a time when power would be restored in just a day or two, even in the suburbs after hurricanes that were even worse than Beryl. The electric company was totally unprepared even though they had plenty of warning. Powers that be are looking into whay it is taking so long.

When was that? I did not lose power during Harvey, but I did for Ike and didn't get it back for 3 1/2 weeks. I was just a kid for Alicia, but power was off for a really long time then as well.

When I was a child we had a dairy farm. Daddy would call the power company for any outage and tell them he was sending milk to feed the people and get out here and get things on. Even after Hurricane Carla we had power within 2 days.

Greg Abbott says he is going to find out what is going on.
At least part of the reason is so many poles have to be reset.
I heard someone is questioning the type wood used in the poles. Used to be tall pine trees, I have no knowledge of present day poles.
Florida is using concrete poles now.
