I had a hard time finding a title for this thread that is short enough.
I've been cleaning up/out my scrapbook stuff and this question occurred to me.
What embellishment do you have too much of?
Mine is washi tape. I don't know what I was thinking. I have several drawers full. I have no idea why. I like washi tape, and do use it, but not nearly to the extent you would think looking at my stash. I need to get more of it on my layouts. I do a lot of junk journaling, and that has helped- I use tape on almost every page. But still, I have way too much.
Some of it has discolored, and I threw that out. I know to put extra adhesive on the ends to keep it in place, and my old layouts have held up okay.
I thought about taking it to school but the kids will use it to tape their fingers together or something stupid like that and I can't stand to see it wasted like that.
The second thing I have an insane amount of is enamel dots, but that doesn't bother me as much. I use them on over 50% of my layouts and I love having every color in the world. So I have no buyers remorse for that. If I live to 100 I'll eventually use it all up. But washi tape? I'm thinking I'll be 200 or so....
So what supply/embellishment do you have too much of?

I agree on the washi tape...have lots, it's super cute but I never use it! Other than that I'd probably say I have too many words. Like all those acrylic ones, chipboard words, word thickers, acetate words...just too many! I need to find a way to use them but sometimes it's hard to, and truthfully how many layouts need to say love, create or journey?

I don't have a lot of washi tape, but I don't like it on cards or whatever, so in a way, any is too much. I've been using it on envelope seals, though. I guess it'll be gone soon enough that way.
Glitter? I received two different brands of superfine glitter in a Crop & Create kit. I dumped them together into a really cute little tupperware and haven't used them since. I want to donate it, but I don't want to give up the container! I also have some chunky glitter my kid was getting rid of. I figured I could use it in shaker cards. But I think I'm learning I don't really like making shaker cards, so that instantly becomes another "any is too much" thing, right?

Sequins! I have so many different colors, received in kits through the years. I can't let them go, though. I have issues.

Washi tape! I really only use it now to decorate envelopes when I'm sending cards.
Also not sure if this would be an embellishment but...Project Life cards. I haven't done pocket scrapbooking in probably 10 years but my cards fill up the bottom of my Ikea Raskog cart. I need to purge them...

I am embellishment challenged, so I don't have a ton of any one thing. I need to use my stamps more... especially the acrylic type. I'm lazy and don't like to rip them off the backing, find my acrylic block, stamp, clean them and put them away. I prefer to grab my wood block stamps because they are easier.
What I am drowning in is memorablia. Four kids ages 19-10 preschool to college, they bring home a lot of paperwork, art, report cards, awards and random drawings... it has piled up.

For me, it is pink embellishments! I have boys... and pink isn't a color I use a lot but I love it! So when I see something that is pink, I usually end up getting it. Washi tape is another one, but I have started using it in other ways to get rid of it.

I don't really tend to have a ton of any one type of embellishment either - maybe brads and eyelets since I rarely remember to pull them out? or nuvo drops? (ditto) or sequins (ditto again)...definitely not washi tape - I would be surprised if I had a dozen rolls - I primarily use it on envelopes tbh.
I think for me - if it's something I use all the time, then I don't typically build up a huge stash because I'm using it. It's the stuff I bought and don't use often that is "too much" even though it's not really a lot in general.

I can agree with the washi... back in the days of paper planning i belonged to several subscriptions (i still use a paper planner)... where you would get a ton of washi or at least a roll or 2 included monthly... i still get washi in the scrap kits i belong too...
I have given a lot to the grands.. they enjoy it... if it is discolored or lost its good stick or if its gooey and gummy then i toss it...
I also have a really hard time using up teeny tiny ephemera.... I do the save your scraps and use them... and when you get down to a certain size then use punches or tiny dies... and i can get those on a page.. but even smaller then that is a heart, circle, square and star hole punch thing.. to make confetti.... those i punch out of like the border strips or when my scraps get unusable... I thought I could use them like enamel dots.. so I havent been buying any more dots.. but I like my nuvo or stickles or pops of color more... or in shakers... i should just toss them.... but i like to punch them out.. it makes me happy to hole punch.. its a weird quirk i guess... lmao

I have both too much washi and too many PL cards. I have largely stopped buying washi because it really just doesn't make it onto my pages. I made a point of doing a couple of washi heavy layouts, and this is likely something I should do again. I don't know if I have ever finished an entire roll.
I was guilty of buying the BH project life kits, and I have so many cards. I find that generally for my PL I prefer to use paper scraps or a line of paper rather than cards. I am making a deliberate effort to pull cards for each month that I do and use some, but I find that if I don't do this then I just don't touch the cards. Awhile ago I used some as patterned paper and cut them up on my silhouette to make embellishments. I should do this again.

I’m another who bought too much Washi, but I often use it as repositionable tape when needed, so at least it does get used now an then.

More than I can see myself using? Ever?
The one thing I sometimes find overwhelming are diecuts that come with collections or kits or classes, especially floral ones. Don't use them often and can never seem to find the one(s) I want when I am scrapping or card making.
Washi tape and rub ons and wet media take care of my urge to save everything. They just dry up and become unusable so I can pitch without guilt.
Ribbon. I keep it anyway, "just in case"
Baby girl embellishments: papers, diecuts and stickers. Little bits of pink lace. I gave away all the baby boy stuff to a new gramma now that my youngest dgk is turning 9 this year. If I hear of someone scrapping for a baby girl I can just happily hand over the tote. If one of my dgk's ends up having a baby girl before I finish scrapping, I can always acquire more themed baby stuff.
I have a drawer full of metal embellishments, including brads and eyelets. But they are nicely sorted and not bothering anyone. No need to disturb them unless I need one or two of them.

Brads, eyelets, glitter.
I have all of these color coded in little jars, so they look good on display.

Thank you, artbabe, for starting this conversation! The chunky glitter is in the donation box and I am on the lookout for a less valuable container in which to donate the extra fine!

What embellishment do you have too much of? Consistent with my style & preferences, I use/purchase few embellishments. Yet, as a theme-challenged scrapper, I still have too many themed embellishments.

Washi tape and eyelets. Man alive, I must have thought I'd be putting eyelets on everything I created for the rest of my life. And washi, not because I have anywhere near as much as I do eyelets, but because I didn't really get that in many cases I'd wind up needing to glue it down to make it stay in place, which definitely turned down the fervor of my appreciation for the washi tapes I bought in the early days, many of which were quite thin, and gluing them is a pain in my backside.

I *had* so many flowers. All those bottles of beautiful Prima flowers, HAD to have them. Those bottles looked so pretty all lined up in a row. They took up a lot of space. I rarely used them. Years ago, I donated them all. Haven't missed them.

I can see why a scrapbooker may have a bunch of unused washi. I don’t think it’s a flexible item for scrapping. It’s often narrow, doesn’t adhere very well, and you can’t cut shapes from it. l don’t use washi on layouts. I do use it with my planner.
I can’t believe I’m going to say this…. I have too many flowers. I love flowers but it’s super easy to make flowers to match a layout. I have all these flowers in pretty colors that never seem to match anything.

I used to have too much washi but between gifting, natural attrition (if it shreds or doesn't stick it gets binned) and using it to hold dies and on the backs of envelopes I've used a decent portion and feel OK with how much I have. It fits in its container with plenty of room to spare.
I do have too many sequins - only one spice jar full, but since I almost never use them that's probably too many. I'm glad you asked though because I checked the jar and found some small clear baubles I forgot about. I'm going to move them over to my enamel dot storage container since that's where I would look first for small embellishments.

Pl cards. I bought a bunch of BH sets (they had a ton of cards) and then add on top of that the new things I sub too and it’s a lot of cards. I do also use a lot of cards and I’m paring down what is coming in so I hope to make a dent at some point.. maybe in 10 years? lol

They were the first thing I "treated" myself to when I became what I considered a serious scrapbooker lol.

For those with too much washi tape, consider demoting your least favourite/discoloured rolls to die cutting paper holding duty. I have a few rolls of washi and that's all I use mine for.

Flowers. I have so many flowers. I still have my little milk bottle Primas, then they did the little squat round bottles of daisy flowers and I have all of those, plus I have three entire drawers packed to the brim with those big, bulky flowers and one drawer dedicated solely to leaves. I don't even reach for them anymore, but I most certainly can not let them go.
