I have discovered that I prefer the thin cloth ones vs thick washcloths.
For years I purchased thick ones and somehow ended up with about a dozen thinner ones. I like them more than the plush thick ones.

My washcloth of choice is the Japanese/Korean exfoliating washcloth. After that, I like thin washcloths. I don't know why, but I don't like thick ones.

DH thinks i'm nuts for liking thinner washcloths. i like them thin but not Motel 8 thin. i don't want to feel like i'm slinging a wet blanket when it's soaking wet but i want it just thick enough to hold gel and such.

I wish I could find some washcloths as thin as baby washcloths, but bigger.

I wish I could find some washcloths as thin as baby washcloths, but bigger. Target during college season. That is where and when I got mine that I use on the rare occasion that I cleanse my face

IKEA has decent thin washcloths. I have a big stack that I use for cleansing my face each night.

Yes DD and I use the baby facecloths. Even though it's not humid here at all it's still nice to have a facecloth that dries really fast.

So, let me get a little controversial here ... do we *need* a washcloth??
When we wash our hands, we just use soap and water. No cloth for extra scrubbing (unless you have super dirty hands with grease or something on them). We consider that clean and good enough for cooking and eating. What is wrong with just soap and water for the rest of our body? Now, I use an exfoliating towel for my body, but to me, that is more for removing dead skin. I do not use a towel when I wash my face, just soap and water.
Anyways, what do you all think? I am just bored and this thought popped into my head.

Yes to thinner ones. I also buy them at Target. I like them mainly for wiping the extra water off my face so it doesn’t drip into my eyes.

I'm in the middle. I don't care for the really thick ones nor the really thin ones. Seems like a really thin one doesn't allow for a good lather.

I like thicker ones to wash my face in the morning shower, and afternoon griminess, and at night. I like the thinner ones for undercarriage work in the shower, as Zee points out we should all be doing. That washcloth is used only once until it gets laundered. I like using a puff and back brush for the rest of my body.
And I can't remember where I saw this, most likely here. I like using a larger, thicker washcloth to dry off in the shower. I tried it after I read that some people do that, and I liked it! I still need a hair towel, but no need for a large towel for the rest of me. When I step out of the shower, I'm only slightly damp, and while I'm doing my face routine, my skin air dries the rest of the way. During the summer, it feels good! Not sure if it will feel that way during the winter, but we'll see!

I switched to using square “flannels”. They are solid and don’t roll up like a baby washcloth does.

I like the thinner ones as they feel more "scratchy". Like they will be able to scrub away all the grime of the day. I am just an all over the place beast. I usually use those make-up meltaways towels for my face. However, my DD uses muslin cloths for her face and I liked those. So yesterday I threw some of those in my Amazon cart. THESE I plan on throwing out the more raggedy looking of the other cloths I used. Bodywise, I use a puff, an Eco sponge and a washcloth. Usually just whatever I grab first.

I use the makeup remover cloths to clean and I will use them a few times before tossing (I don't wear a lot of makeup). Otherwise just some cleaner that I splash on and rinse. I don't use one in the shower either.. I have one of those puff things. Unless something is extra dirty or needs some extra scrubbing that is all I do.

I like microfiber washcloths for my face because they dry quicker but use a mesh pouf thing in the shower to exfoliate, etc. I had a few baby ones from Norwex that I liked, but I didn’t like the price and they only come in a pack of three. I bought a big pack of soft microfiber cloths that people use on their cars from a home improvement store and they work great as washcloths too.

I always use a washcloth on my body. Mine are white, waffle weave, same as my towels. Next time in Target I will check out the thin ones. And, thanks for sharing your thoughts on this, katlady. I totally understand what you are saying.

We do too. I get a 6 pack from Kohl's. The Big One washcloths is what it is called. This is our choice for wash cloths. DH uses them when they are brand new and the worn-to-my-preference are moved to my pile. It’s all about being able to clean my ears properly. 😂 I think I am the only one with a preference of thickness. DH does prefer the white ones and Jay prefers dark. As to the wash cloth/no wash cloth debate, there was a positively hysterical thread on Twitter a few years ago debating the exact same thing.

Me too. I also prefer thinner towels, I hate those thick fluffy towels. I always pick out real old ones to use after the shower.
