Happy Friday! scrapmaven Hope you had a great, relaxing trip with your DS. I'm working on social posting this morning. We got a new client, a restaurant, and they have the MOST unappetizing pictures of their food. Like I can't even tell what menu items they are. Sure isn't making me hungry. I'm not sure what dinner will be tonight. I'm going over to my sister's after work to hang out so I'll probably just eat over there. Hope you all have a great day!

I woke up to everyone talking about the airline outages. From what I can gather it has something to do with a software update that went south. Hope that's the real story. DH and I went swimming at our sport's club last evening. Our club is located at Town Center and I had forgotten that they have concerts on the lake on Thursdays. So it was fun being able to hear the music while we were in the pools. I had our books so we sat there reading after swimming. Very relaxing. Dinner is whatever I get when I go to Raley's. Hopefully their registers are working! TGIF everyone.

Good afternoon
I went into the city this morning for a hairdresser's appointment and staying in and wandered for a bit afterwards. my hairdresser did very well. I told her about my upcoming surgery, so she has cut my hair with an undercut with a longer fringe on the right side, which is where the incision will be and they will shave my head. I have another appointment with her 6 weeks post surgery, when she will start fixing it back up again. She also touched up my roots. I don't know when I'll be able to have color done again - another thing on my list of questions for the surgeon!
We are going out or dinner tonight to one of our favorite restaurants -Savanna. It is South African/Namibian and has a really eclectic menu, including serving ostrich and crocodile steaks! They also serve a wide variety of South African wines, which are really delicious and pair well with the food.

It does seem to be the real story, from everything that I've read. It is not just airlines -some banks and other online systems went down as well. And not just US - it has been global. I've seen stories from Australia and several European countries about problems there as well. I'll ask DH if he knows more when he gets home. he works in IT, so might have heard something more than is on the news.

Tearisci I often share meal pics on my Facebook wall. It's kind of a thing when I make something new. And while I'm not photographer, there is an art to good, clear meal pics. There is also an art to plating in an attractive way. I have realized since starting this like 4 or 5 years ago that even restaurants that serve me food don't plate their meals in the most attractive way. But I will say that I often tweak things like brightness and contrast to achieve a more desirable look. scrapmaven I hope you and your DS had an amazing time. The R&R and new scenery was hopefully good for you. I put the finishing touches this morning on my end of the project I was assigned on Wednesday afternoon. I let them know that I was stepping away for a day or two on it and that then I would review so my eyes were fresh. I let them know that they could review my end of it if they chose. My coworker as of this morning has not started on her end of the project. Interestingly enough, I got an email this morning that the system necessary to complete the project will be down on Monday and Tuesday all day. I wonder if she gets the email notifications...I wonder if she reads them if she does... Ahh, well, that is not my problem. Tonight we are going out to the city market to eat dinner with Jeremy's mom. We invited her for a night out. Here is the last meal I made. A pasta with my homemade pesto.

Like, this makes me not want to eat there at all!

That picture is 100 times better than the restaurant's photos. You should be a professional food photographer

Happy Friday! Glad you had a great little getaway scrapmaven ! This morning I'm having my hair colored and cut, then I'll head to the hospital for the afternoon. He will most likely be tired as they are doing the third plasma exchange this morning, as well as breathing treatments and a little PT. He was a bit down yesterday afternoon and just wanted it to all be over. However, DD showed up just before 5 pm and brought him a karaoke mic so he doesn't have to struggle so hard to be heard. Also brought up a whiteboard and wrote out the date, treatments coming up and an encouraging phrase. He was thrilled with those. I've really had to emphasize to the staff there that the more they tell him about what they are doing and why the less trouble he is going to give them. He will remain in ICU until Wed at least due to needing two more plasma treatments on Monday and Wednesday. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and tagging me with encouragement. It does mean a lot to me and I'm sorry if I don't respond to each of you right now. Not sure what dinner will be. I have everything for a fresh salad, so maybe that. Thinking of everyone else and sending prayers for those who are also having health problems, including sueg and bc2ca.

It was eye opening to find out that most of the food pics you see in cookbooks, tv ads, etc have been tweaked with all manner of tools to make them look better. Most are not edible either! Things like using glycerin to make it shine. Once I found that out I quit worrying about what my food photos looked like! At least my food is edible and is the real thing!

I need to run to target this morning for something and then to the store.
I have left over chicken to eat.. but need something for dd. who is still sick.
sunny day for a change.. fog off on the ocean.
I think my dh is not going backpacking/camping with us. sad but whatever.
I am starting my week before colonoscopy so can't eat my usual nuts.. with berries, and nuts and such. oh well.
more cleaning today. just finished last night an album of my parents's 35 yr of winters at a ski area. we took over their condo. so fun to see pics from when the trees were tiny to now when they are huge. my dad stopped skiing at 91, when he lost his internal balance skills.

It's another quiet day for me. Sometimes I hesitate to post here because I live a boring life. I used to be a person that was always on the go, now I'm more of a homebody.
For dinner we are having cheese enchiladas with rice on the side.

I don’t have any plans - still on my days off- glad I’m not at work but curious if the IT issues have affected my work. Not curious enough to log on though! Lol
I think I will paint some trim pieces for our range hood and dh will install them when they are dry. I also need to go to Costco. I’ll probably go after dinner as my Costco is pretty quiet then and I love it to be less crowded.
Other than that, I will scrapboook and take a walk. Dinner will be cheesy meatball subs and salad.

Hi all! Happy Friday!
Happy to report that DH is feeling better. His boss told him to take the day off to rest.
I did wind up taking an appointment this morning that opened up to see my regular NP since I'm feeling like I'm dragging since I was going to be redoing labs anyway. She is seriously wonderful. She did notice that there is some fluid behind my ears, so she sent over an antibiotic; said my skin was noticeably drier than she's ever seen it and recommended a moisturizer; mentioned my heart rate seemed high (110); and requested additional labs. She looks out for me in ways I didn't know possible. 🥺 (I'm not sure what the additional labs she ordered were, but I'll find out once I get my post-visit summary notes.)
After all of that was said and done, I went to Barnes and Noble, Target, Petsmart, and finally Aldi and CVS. We'll have wedding soup for dinner next week. It seems to be our go-to when we're not feeling the best.
We'll likely have a lazy weekend at home, which is fine by me.

I do not do anything weird like that to my food either. All my food is photographed right before I stick my fork in it. 😉

**GypsyGirl** praying for your DH. Your DD is so thoughtful! An elderly friend use to prep food for magazines and she mentioned what they did to the food to make them look good. And yes you couldn't eat them. jeremysgirl your pasta looks great. Are those lentils on top? Fell asleep around two and up at six doesn't set me up well for today. A nap is in my future. But I got out early today for a walk before it gets hot. I have six packages arriving today mostly due to Prime Day. I am staying close to home today. DH will get off early today and wants to pick up dim sum on the way home. So that will be the big meal today.

Yes Marina they are lentils. Green ones in this case. I mean prior to this diet I had had lentil soup ya know? But I hadn't dug very deep with lentils at all. And you know what? I like lentils even more than beans. Lentils and pasta just seem to go together in my mind now. I made another pasta with a heavy roasted tomato sauce and some red pepper flake last weekend and I heaped on the red lentils. It seemed like a perfect match.

Well...hmm...I just met up with my mom. I had monthly preventative meds for Chloe's dog. I am still responsible for his healthcare. I also had a couple of months worth of the Sketchboxes that I had a sub for Chloe. So I pulled out a homemade card, put a little note in it that I hoped she was doing well and stuck it in the bag. I put a Pooh bear sticker on the outside of the envelope because she loves Pooh. I didn't get all gushy or anything. Just wanted her to know that I hoped she like the boxes and that she needs to give her dog the meds. My mom gave me a little update on how Chloe is doing. And then she gave me a birthday present. I mean what do you do in a case like ours, do you refuse the gift because you're angry? I don't know. But I took it and said thank you and left. I just opened it. I'll attach a picture. I usually use those silicone cutting mats. I had mentioned that since I was now only cutting vegetables and no longer any meat, I was thinking of treating myself to a fancy wood cutting board for my veggies. The gift was this one. It is about 15" in diameter! It is huge and beautiful. I actually do want to use it. But I want to treat it right. Can someone give me the skinny on how to take care of it before I use it?

Tomorrow will be a get together for DD 19th birthday. We will feed everyone. Do we know what we are having? No. But whatever it is, it's going to be easy!!
I honestly don't know why SO thought it a good idea to have people over with our bathroom in disarray. Oh well.
We have to wait for the electrician to come back out before we can start taping and mudding. There is one power box for the medicine cabinet that we want to move over and down...not sure if there is enough wire in there to do that. If not, we work with what we have!
Last nights dinner clue I finally got after I ate lunch. LOL We went to Texas Roadhouse. Yummy as usual and we brought our leftovers to DD to finish off.
Tonight I am not sure. My house is bare of food! I seriously need to go shopping.

So I just looked at all the labs my doctor ordered because I remembered they're also under health reminders until the results are in: she definitely didn't hold back!
- Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate - Vitamin B12 + Folate - C Reactive Protein - TSH + Free T4 - Vitamin D - Complete metabolic panel - Complete blood count - Iron + TIBC + Ferritin

Happy Friday dinner friends! I glanced at the board yesterday, but didn't get around to posting. It's also super busy work and home with vacation prep. jeremysgirl Your pasta looks so delish! and great pic. Love the cutting board too, that's a very thoughtful gift from your mother. Also, sending good thoughts and prayers for Chloe. scrapmaven I can't wait to hear about your get away! I hope it was relaxing and wonderful. I'm a total homebody also and feel like my life is pretty boring, but it took me a long time to create this boring existence. :-) I have a little tradition with the grandkids, when they start driving they have to add me on their life 360 so that I can "stalk" them, My grand daughter has said" Grandma is so boring, she never leaves her house" There are weeks that she is right and then there are other weeks that I can't seem to be able to stay home. The puppy is so cute, DH is packing the car, took it to be washed, filling it with gas, etc, She is laying at the front door waiting for her "hu-man" to come back and give her attention. She is very chill and quiet with just me, but when he's home it's a different story. She is staying with " uncle Phillip" while we are gone, I made the Air BnB reservation before we had her and they don't take pets, All of the kids would have loved to have her around, but honestly it will be a nice break, Dinner tonite is clean out the fridge before vacation night. No cooking for me, unless I make a small flatbread to use up some veggies, Wishing everyone an awesome Friday and weekend ahead.

Mama Mia! Our quick little trip is turning into a mess. My son's flight has already been cancelled (he's not going with us, but taking a long weekend with his gf) - now we're rushing to get him on his new flight, which leaves 5 hours before hours theoretically, wo who knows what we're going to do all that time! Hopefully ours will actually go as I'll be super annoyed if it ends up cancelled and we were waiting all that time. It's just a weekend to see family, so no interest in rescheduling for tomorrow - keep your fingers crossed for us!

Can someone give me the skinny on how to take care of it before I use it? Beautiful board, the tag at the top should tell you how to care for it. Umm...yeah. I read it. And I googled too. And there are a wide variety of suggested oils, oiling processes, initial seasoning, time to let it cure, time in between reoiling, whether vinegar should be used as a disinfectant and if so, how often. I just thought someone who has had a nice, wooden cutting board for a long while with experience taking care of it would have some helpful tips on what's worked for them. And I really thought the dinner thread was the right place to discuss it.
