Today is the day we are getting our flooring!! Everything is out and now I am just waiting for the installers to show up. My back has really been bothering me. I could barely sleep last night. It really bums me out because it's only been about 1.5 years since my back surgery. Anyway, our oldest son came over this morning to help dh move our sleep number bed. I just didn't have it in me to move another thing. I feel like it's going to take me days and days to get the house put back together when it's all finished. I keep telling myself that it is going to be worth it!! Dinner will definitely be out tonight! I am going to suggest a local brewery in town that has the best fish tacos!!! jeremysgirl If you have a cookware store near you, I bet they have the oil that is made for cutting boards. They probably have it on Amazon as well, but I know how you feel about Amazon. It is a really nice board. I am glad your mom got you a gift for your birthday even though she has been not so nice as of late. Yesterday I ran out to the longarm quilter lady and dropped off 2 Halloween quilts that I finished. I get so excited when they are finally at the quilting stage. scrapmaven I hope you had the best time with your son. I love that you guys are so close!! **GypsyGirl** Continued prayer for your dh and you as well. Please take care of yourself. I know that is easier said than done when your loved one is ill. Baby Hudson just turned 6 weeks old. That went by really fast. He is such a good baby and is so stinkin' cute!!! I will post a pic in a bit from my phone! Hope everyone has the best weekend!!! leannec...Hi!!

jeremysgirl I bought a nice Boo's Block. I washed it in Luke warm water (NO soaking, just let water gently run on it). Used a little dawn and rinsed. Then dried it super well. Let it air dry at an angle overnight. Next day I rubbed their board oil all over it and got excess up with a towel. Let that cure for 24 hours and then rubbed off excess again. I use mine for doughs. Once a month I wash it well and repeat the above steps. It helps keep the wood healthy so it doesn't split.

I didnât answer about the board because Iâm not an expert! I just use food safe mineral oil (not as often as I should) on my giant booz cutting board. Iâve had it for maybe 15 years. I have also been known to spray it with various cleaners when I feel it was needed (a big no no I am sure! But I just follow it up with food grade mineral oil To keep itâhydratedâ). Usually I just clean with water. I only cut breads and veggies on it. Meats are on plastic boards I can disinfect in the dishwasher. I think that was a really thoughtful gift from your mom, jeremysgirl, since it seemed she hasnât been the most supportive about you going vegan. Enjoy your beautiful Board!

Happy Friday! The Microsoft issue has affected my job so I came home! I really feel for those that are traveling. jeremysgirl I didn't post yesterday and just read about Chloe. I hope she gets the help she needs. Beautiful cutting board. scrapmaven can't wait to hear about your little adventure. The Birdhouse Lady Hudson is adorable. Time flies so enjoy it! I am irked at my dr's office. I had my annual checkup last week and got my bloodwork done. I received a call from his nurse yesterday to please call them. I tried but it was over an hour wait to talk to her. Nope. She called again this morning telling me that I really needed to call them. I tried again this morning and the same thing. I guess Monday I will just call and wait forever to talk to her. This weekend is going to be busy. DGD's are spending the night tonight. Tomorrow I have a bridal shower to attend. I am supposed to wear a garden hat or fascinator. Don't have either and I'm not buying one. Hope everyone is having a great day!

stormsts, call one more time if they're still open and if you're concerned then let them know that you really need to speak the nurse today. How frustrating. I will think good thougths.
Baby Hudson is just the most adorable, baby, The Birdhouse Lady. What a cutie. I hope that your back calms down, quickly. jeremysgirl , that board is really nice. That photo looks delicious. Your food photos are always so yummy looking. You did the best thing possible by accepting the gift. Time will heal things btwn you and your mom and you have boundaries in place to keep you safe. **GypsyGirl** , your dd probably cheered up your husband. It's nice that he's back w/you two. You can support eachother as you both support your dh. I'm holding the best thoughts for your dh. We had two days just hanging out, doing a little window shopping and talking. Though my boys are open w/me, when we travel they've even more open. Now it's back home, a nap in a few minutes and then relaxing w/dh. I have to help get the house back in order after the window install.

jeremysgirl - during Covid I bought a new cutting board from boardsmith. Their website has good instructional videos. I can recommend the board butter they sell. Have only used that on my board and it looks like new.

DH and I went for a big bike ride this morning, then stopped at Subway and grabbed subs to eat along the water. It was a gorgeous day for a ride - nice and sunny but not too hot.
Our basement is finally drying but it still stinks. DH has tarred the basement window where the water came in so hopefully that wonât happen again.
Trying to book accommodations for DH, my brother and SIL to get away for a couple days so the guys can ride their ATVs. I found a great little cabin close to the water. By the time my brother could book off work, it was booked. So now I start againâŠ
Supper will be grilled chicken, fried potatoes and beans.

It's another quiet day for me. Sometimes I hesitate to post here because I live a boring life. I used to be a person that was always on the go, now I'm more of a homebody. I'm the Queen of the quiet day and boring life! I still find something to post ... even if it is dull! I picked up some prescriptions this morning and took out a bunch of recycling ... so many boxes and plastic from deliveries. I'm not looking forward to the huge boxes that will contain the (pink!) luggage set and portable air conditioner that I bought on Prime Day! I'm just sitting around now until I pick up my girlfriend ... we are going to our fav Italian restaurant for dinner and then coming back here to watch Netflix ... fun times! My dd's left for the lake yesterday ... they will be gone for two weeks ... whaaaah!!! . They will have a great time though!

The Birdhouse Lady ugh on your back. I'm so sorry. Is it giving you the same kind of trouble it was before the surgery? That baby is so adorable. Honestly, I've been in meetings for a lot of the afternoon and my mind has been spinning about my mom. I was angry. I'm still angry. I still don't think she treated me right. With that said, today she looked tired. She sounded beat up. At one point she nearly started crying. I felt empathy for her. Chloe isn't easy to deal with daily. And I could see the wear and tear on my mom today. With that said, I do think it has given her some perspective on things she wouldn't have had if Chloe hadn't been living with the past month.

Just a BTDT kind of thing. I have never had a nice cutting board. And I'm kind of icked out about the idea of wood + meat. But now that I'm not eating meat, I wanted one because I wanted to celebrate some of my changes. And I do want it to be a working item.

Hiiiiiii!!!!!! I see videos on Facebook of Alaska cruises and one "influencer" in particular ... a woman married to a crew member who lives on the ship full time with him ... I always think of you! Tomorrow I have a bridal shower to attend. I am supposed to wear a garden hat or fascinator. Don't have either and I'm not buying one. You could take a headband and attach a big ribbon/bow to it ... simple fascinator!

It's another quiet day for me. Sometimes I hesitate to post here because I live a boring life. I used to be a person that was always on the go, now I'm more of a homebody. For dinner we are having cheese enchiladas with rice on the side. I love being a homebody! Staying home is my favorite. I like to read about everyoneâs day no matter what they are doing. I like staying home too, but this past couple weeks with my niece and her family here has been wonderful.

so my nephew is in a wedding tomorrow and one of the groomsmen is stuck at the Atlanta airport because of whatever issue went on today with Microsoft. He and two other guys who he met at the airport who are also headed to the Rochester airport are going hire a driver to drive them from Atlanta. There are no rental cars.

I know people who use salt and lemon to scrub but the wood is still going to absorb the juice and ew gross gross gross!!

He and two other guys who he met at the airport who are also headed to the Rochester airport are going hire a driver to drive them from Atlanta. There are no rental cars. I had to chuckle. Did anyone else see "Planes Trains and Automobiles" back in the 80's w/Steve Martin and John Candy? I hope that your nephew gets home safely and makes it to the wedding in time.
jeremysgirl, your mom had to see firsthand how tough it is to live w/Chloe. Maybe it will lead to her being more gentle w/you and I hope it gives her a greater understanding of the fact that she needs to get help, too.
Use that cutting board to make yourself some delicious and satisfying dinners.

Beautiful board, the tag at the top should tell you how to care for it. Umm...yeah. I read it. And I googled too. And there are a wide variety of suggested oils, oiling processes, initial seasoning, time to let it cure, time in between reoiling, whether vinegar should be used as a disinfectant and if so, how often. I just thought someone who has had a nice, wooden cutting board for a long while with experience taking care of it would have some helpful tips on what's worked for them. And I really thought the dinner thread was the right place to discuss it. My brother has been a woodworker all his life and has made a ton of cutting boards. He always told me to use food grade mineral oil on it to cure it. Wash, let dry well, then rub a light coat all over the oboard. Let sit for a day and then wipe off with old rag or paper towels. How often you need to do it will of course depend on how often you use it. I think you will be able to tell when to redo as the wood starts getting lighter in color. Or you could do it on a schedule, like once a month. Don't stick in dish water, rince off and quicly dry. Very nice gift from your mother.
