We are enjoying watching a number of YouTube videos about the Olympics in the run up to the Paris Olympics. Sports that were once Olympic events, (like live pigeon shooting 
, only held once), great moments in the different sports, etc.
But we were surprised about Art. From 1912 to 1948, medals were awarded in five categories, architecture, literature, music, painting, and sculpture. Works to be inspired by sport.
It stopped as it was decided that artists were professionals and the Olympics athletes were amateurs.
