Yes, I'm still trying to keep this board moving. It would be great if everyone reading this would start one thread. I promise I'll post on all of them. My coffee isn't finished yet and I'm procrastinating on my college class. Seriously, folks- add some threads. Even you lurkers- introduce yourself or something. So are you a flat scrapper or do you like a little 3-D? I am definitely not a flat scrapper. Occasionally I'll accidently make a flat layout but it isn't often. My layouts don't look complete to me if they are flat. I love enamel dots, sequins, puffy stickers, twine, ribbon, buttons, chipboard, etc. I almost always use 3-D alphabets for titles. Thickers are my friend- although Pinkfresh and Doodlebug have nice 3-D alphabets, too. I have a ton of flat alphabets from back in the day but those rarely make it onto my newer pages. But my addiction is pop dots. I use an insane amount of pop dots- I like a lot of my stickers and die cuts bumped up. And when I use pop dots, I use a lot of them- I want the die cut to stand up to my cat sitting on it, or being squished in books. So it isn't unknown for my to use 10-12 dots on a large diecut. I like that sucker sturdy. I watch Shimelle make pages and she just uses a little bit of adhesive on all her stuff, flat and 3-D, and my brain just cannot compute. So I go through pop dots like crazy. Does anyone have a good, cheap source for pop dots? I bought a zillion of them from Tuesday Morning but my stash is beginning to run out. I found a really large packet of nice ones that were cheap at Hobby Lobby but I don't like that store on principle, so I hate buying from them. The online stores are a little pricy for the amount I use, but I've been known to buy those, too. So do you like your layouts flat or bumpy? Why?

I definitely like some dimension to my layouts. I almost always use Thickers for my title so I get some dimension there. I also will pop stickers up as well. Chipboard, enamel dots, puffy stickers...love it all! I just feel like a flat layout isn't complete - I need the dimension!
I don't have a good source for pop dots but I'll share one thing I've done. I had letter sized sheets of fun foam and used the wide double sided tape on both sides of the fun foam to basically create a full sheet of foam with adhesive. I typically will cut them down to about 4"x5.25" to use on the backs of card panels and then keep the extra bits and use them for popping up embellishments etc on my pages and cards. I don't know that it is really any cheaper since the double sided tape can be expensive but it's what I've been doing lately since I have leftover foam pieces.

Very flat. I don't like how lumpy looks in a page protector and it takes up more room in my albums.

I prefer flat mostly. I use a memory planner and can’t use bumpy embellishments.
For mini albums, I like 3-D embellishments. They make the projects more interesting.

Flat for sure! For most of the same reasons as breetheflea , I don't use bumpy embellishments for the most part. There are rare exceptions: I will sometimes use brads or even eyelets (gah! I know, LOL!) to adhere something if it particularly fits the page. But those are not very bumpy (relative to most other bumpy embellishments) and I'm always careful to make sure they're not going to poke through and/or make dents in a photo on the opposite page. Also, I am much more likely to use bumpy embellishments on cards than on scrapbook pages, especially if they are not going to go through the mail! Great question! ETA: Off to start a new thread!

I’m a mix, but mostly bumpy as I love texture…

I love making bumpy layouts, but I recently looked through a few of my albums and I don't love have the very dimensional pages have warped the opposing photo pages! (These were all out-of-pocket pages, so I don't know of that would be an issue if everything were in pockets?)

I'm very much a mix - I lean towards flat but am not averse to some pop-dots, enamel dots, eyelets/brads...nothing super lumpy/bumpy though...I'm not thrilled with how dimensional the layered gnome diecut I used on a recent page is...I'm tempted to pull it off and remove the popdots inside it to slim it out a bit

Thanks for the efforts! I am more bumpy than flat. Nothing too crazy usually. I am a fan of texture in general.

Almost always flat. That said... I really, really like how this title page looks, and I want to do something sort of similar on a cover page for a road trip we want to take. However, I can't decide if I want to do them like that page or in a circular pattern because I want to use this paper as part of the cover. I think it would look really neat to have the names of places we visit going around in a circle, but I also love the grouping of them in the layout I linked. (The trip would take us to both ends of Tennessee and places along the way, thus the record.) Decisions, decisions... I have a small hoard of Thickers dedicated to this one-day project (don't judge).

Team bumpy!!
I love pop ups from Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam squares and I get them from Amazon and my local LSS. I recently discovered Bearly Art cubbies and got the starter pack. It has strips, squares and in 2 different thicknesses! I found them at my local LSS but have seen them on Scrapbook.com too
I forgot to add WaffleFlower, they have a pack of strips that come in different lengths and widths!

I gave a wordy answer to this question on your evolution thread lol So.. short version here. My scrapping has gotten flatter and flatter over the years. I used to LOVE dimension. I used to be very careful that I used embellishments in different areas of the page to make it so just one area wasn't super fat, whereas the rest of the pages were wavy and bent. That worked out, sort of. But the CM page protector sleeves have basically shrink wrapped themselves around the few 3d elements. You can actually see the outline of even snowflakes I punched and added to a page, brads and enamel dots. The thicker pocket page page protectors or even 12x12's are even more distracting to me. It really really bugs me to have that plastic stretch or wrinkly looking space due to dimension. So, partially for that reason, but mostly for the reason of space and moving more and more towards digital prints and hybrid scrapbooking, my albums get flatter and flatter. I like that better Now---- DD or a trip album 6x8... that's different. ALLLL the ephemera, fun goodies, and interactive elements are welcome there!

I only looked very quickly, and her's doesn't look to be as dimensional.. But it definitely got me thinking about busting out all my partial alpha sets and trying to play a little scrabble. You're link just made me feel like it was meant to be!! I hope you do the trip and make the album!

I'm not completely flat. I will use enamel dots. I will use brads & paper clips. But I don't typically include things as bulky as flair or bottle tops. I just tend to cram a lot of books/albums onto only a few shelves due to space constraints, and you've jammed a few albums in alongside one another and one has a bottle cap in it, it's bound to leave a bottle cap impression on a few more pages, kwim? If I had more space and my albums could all breath a little on their shelf, then I might be interested in bulkier embellishments. But for now I save them for cards that I will be hand delivering.

I know it's going to be a trip that takes some more planning than a regular trip for a few reasons (DH doesn't enjoy flying, it would be our longest trip ever [we're thinking two weeks], and cat care - he wasn't a huge fan of where we boarded her earlier this year. We usually have a service come in, but she was ill earlier this year and isn't young, either). Just more time to save some money, though!

My dog was a great boarder for sooo long. Now, she's much much older and there's no way she can go to her normal board/daycare/play place. My son lives at home, and provides a ton of pet sitting when we travel. I mean, she IS his dog lol!! But with her age, and meds and just literally life in general, she is a big responsibility. We have a long trip coming up in November (nearly a month) and I feel terrible leaving him 100% responsible for her all that time. Normally there are three of us that do different things. I am (still sorta) looking for a good dog walker to come in once a day while he is at work. The problem is that she's a biggish dog, and she has alot of difficulty with stairs. We live in a split level. Doggo only stays downstairs when my son is responsible for her. Otherwise, she strongly prefers upstairs (better air conditioning and squirrel viewing windows.) Either way, a dog walker would have to safely get her up and down two half flights. I hold my breath every time she does it herself, and we all follow her up the stairs with our hands on her butt in case she doesn't make a step (she has serious myelopathy. Sometimes she just isn't feeling up to it and we lift/carry her, and we know her, so can see the signs, if that makes sense.

Flat all the way for the most part but I like interactive elements so kinda bumpy too??? Most of my albums now are 6x8, 3x8 or tn size so only have small rings and I can’t afford to buy and ship thousands of albums which means I need to keep it flat!

I don't scrap but I do papercraft, and usually go for flat. It's less about looks and more about durability. I don't use tape or other temporary adhesives and it's difficult to get three dimensional elements to stay looking nice over the long term other than string or ribbon. Epoxy yellows, metal rusts, tape dries out and falls apart, etc. There's still plenty of pop-ups/outs that can be done just with paper.
I do enjoy making little animal boxes and stand-up cards.

I'm a mix, but do like some dimension. I have moved away from pop dots and now use the foam on a roll, or extra paper glued together to bump something up.

I like some dimension but not too much. I have some older brads that are like 80s costume jewelry and I'll never use them. Way too bulky. I tend to not use anything thicker than Thickers or wood veneer.

Flat, which is consistent with my style & preferences while maximizing space in albums. Slight dimension is sometimes added via memorabilia, a couple layers of hidden cardstock behind unmatted photos &/or diecut letters/titles, thin foam dots/squares, stenciling with glaze/paste, &/or enamel dots.

My layouts are on the lumpier side. I like lots of layers, enamel dots, and use lots of foam tape. artbabe - thank you for starting so many threads!! I buy foam tape by the roll from Amazon. It's not as thick as pop dots but can be layered. Foam TapeLike everything, it's gone up significantly in price. The last roll I ordered was $38 but that was almost 2 years ago (I haven't scrapped much at all)

In theory, I love bumpy, dimensional layouts. In an effort to reduce the number of albums I have, I went through and removed a lot of foam and dimensional embellishments. My current layouts are pretty much flat.

When I used to do actual Pages I was a bumpy as heck scrapper! Loved all the texture and things on my pages!! Now I do PL and I’m still a bit bumpy but no where near the same. My bump now is from ribbon, brads, and flip ups and chipboard.

I love bumpy LO's. I like to add photo flip books and things like that to get more photos on the page. I also just like to add layers and tuck things behind them.

Moderately dimensional here. Chipboard, pop dots, enamel dots are all good. I don't like dimensional stickers that layer two or three pop dots. I have some Harry Potter ones, and I just disassembled them Scrapbook.com's brand work well for me, and seem to be reasonably priced.

Sometimes I got flat but to me the layout calls for it. But 90% of the time I have some dimension to the page. Puffy stickers, enamel dots, foam Thickers, adding extra layers under the photo or an embellishment to have it up.
