Last post for today I promise - all this laying in bed feeling sorry for myself has given me way too much time online š
So my last question of the dayā¦
I have a Tokyo trip planned. I am a travelers company notebook fan (like make a special trip to go to the store kind of person)
There is a limited edition Tokyo themed tn cover with inserts for $110 for sale which is perfect for my Tokyo centric tripā¦ there are one or two still around and most qualify for free shippingā¦
There is also one remaining inset only that would cost me $25 once shipped.
My conundrumā¦
These are limited, once they are gone they are gone.
The tn cover and insert would cost me $66 if still in stock when I go later in the year.
The tn insert would cost me $6.60 if still in stock when I go later in the year. I already have two tn covers, one for each of my previous trips there.
Do I:
1. Think stuff it, you havenāt bought a crafty thing for a while and get the tn cover and insert for $110 knowing Iām losing $40-$50?
2. Hedge my bets, get the insert only for four times the price, and hope either the cover is still in stock on my trip OR itās still in stock when I get back?
3. Gamble my future and be patient and buy none until my trip (I want the notebook to journal in when Iām travelling so this is really not my preferred option as I would be halfway into the trip before I could go to the shop)?
Help!!!

You're not "losing 40-50$" it sounds like the limited edition would be perfect for your trip, and it's a 1 x purchase. I say buy it!

If I showed you right now that they're all gone, you missed out, how upset would you be? That's usually my way of gauging whether to pay more and make certain I get one. I hope you have fun in Tokyo

Have fun!
You do know about the TN stores in Tokyo right? They sell different stuff. There is one in Tokyo Station, another at Narita airport, and then the main store near Shibuya.

Have fun! You do know about the TN stores in Tokyo right? They sell different stuff. There is one in Tokyo Station, another at Narita airport, and then the main store near Shibuya. I have the limited Narita airport cover (had a Japanese friend get her parents to order one during covid to their house as they would only deliver inside Japan, and then got it posted to me as that was the only time you could get one without going in store) - glad I did this as at the moment most flights from Australia go to Haneda not Narita so thereās no way Iāll be near that store for a while! I got the limited maranouchi/Tokyo station cover on my last trip when we made a special trip just to find the store (we started at the south entrance by accident and itās near the north entranceā¦not fun! )š„° This trip Iām planning on going to the nakameguro store as this is the last of the three flagship stores, but Iāll have to look into the shibuya one as we will be in that area too and I collect the shop stampsā¦ my fear was theyād sell out of the limited Tokyo tn before I get there in November š I will be super happy though if I get there and they have the stickers and the postcard tn as I did not purchase them so I had something to get in store (who am I kidding Iām also getting a pencil board and and and) š Japan is my happy place for a holiday, itās just the right amount of everything for my family and I š maybe itās due to my godfather being half Japanese but Iāve always had a weird fixation with the country and the culture. Canada too but I havenāt made it there yet as itās soooo far away!

This trip Iām planning on going to the nakameguro store as this is the last of the three flagship stores, but Iāll have to look into the shibuya one as we will be in that area too I did mean the Nakameguro store. I couldn't think of the name, but knew it was near the Shibuya area. I got the limited maranouchi/Tokyo station cover on my last trip when we made a special trip just to find the store (we started at the south entrance by accident and itās near the north entranceā¦not fun! )š„° That train station is crazy! Like a maze. One trip, we were flying out of Terminal 2 at Narita, but the TN store is in Terminal 1. I made our family go to the airport a bit early so that I could hustle over to Terminal 1 to go to the store. I would love to go in September because that is when all the new calendars and planners for the next year are released in Japan. I love that Japan is still obsessed with paper and stationery.

katlady I feel like we need our own 2peas thread I could talk about Japanese stationery for days (probably another reason I love the country soooo much!) Glad to see Iām not the only person dragging unwilling family members to notebook shops, my husband just sighed and handed over his credit card last time when we finally found the store š Dd and I spent a whole morning checking out the loft at Shinjukuā¦ any recommendations for items/stores I need to put on my list?

lg I like art supplies, so I like to go to Sekaido in Shinjuku (https://www.sekaido.co.jp/). There is an everyday 20% discount. The bottom floor is mostly stickers, stationery, and pens. I don't know if I've been to the Loft in Shinjuku. I usually go to the one in Ikebukuro. That one used to be where they did the special event on September 1st for the Hobonichi planners. I don't know if they still do. If you go to Ginza, there is Itoya (https://www.ito-ya.co.jp/). Tons of cool stuff. It is a popular store. I usually go to Sekaido first, because of the discount. Then I go to the Loft. I tell my family that all I need to do is go to Sekaido and Loft, and I'll go anywhere else they want to go.

katlady thanks for the tips, you sound like me on our trips (if Iām going to sit through four hours of retro gaming stores I get the equivalent in stationery shopsā¦ or elseā¦) Consider those stores added to the list š

It is making you really happy. That is a need, in my mind, as long as you can still pay your bills. Keep on posting! It's fun to have lots of action here.
