In the spirt of artbabe asking us to post a thread.... what are popular trends/products you have never tried/used and why not? - Mixed media paste/whip - because I never got around to it.
- Same with paint -I only had a few MM paints and they dried up.
- Lumpy pages - I don't like how they lay with the other pages
- Prima style fancy pages - I am not talented enough for that. If I was, I would only be doing it for the process of creating something different because it really is not my style. I would enjoy making Tim Holtz type projects too, but only for the process.
While there definitaly is more, that is all I can think of at the moment.
What about you?

Single Photo spreads that have a ton of product on them. I enjoy looking at pages like this, but I can’t get into making them.
Mixed Media pages.

Your list is mine as well, but also I've never owned a cutting machine of any kind.

I have tried distress inking a background, but haven't liked the results enough to use it for a page.
I haven't used paint to stencil a background, I did try texture paste, I can't remember if it actually made it onto a layout.

I've never done it on a page either, but I have on cards and they turned out nice. Well maybe not all of them, but in that instance I don't use it.

I've dipped my toe in the mixed media pool with just ink splatters and stencils. But I haven't gone Missy Whiddon & Vicki Boutin wild with it. I'm intrigue but I don't want to make a mess or spend the money on adding to my collection of (most likely) unused supplies.

Mixed media, giant cut files, and one tiny picture on a 12x12 layout.

I think the problem was my paper, I need to try something besides cheap white cardstock.

I haven't tried mixed media paste. I have bought some but it hasn't made it on a page yet. I need to try that this month.
My mixed media is limited to stencils and ink, splatter, rubber stamping, and Nuvo drops. I tried watercolor once but I don't like how it warps the paper so I didn't use it. I don't want to do the real messy stuff, either, because my job involves messy stuff and I like to get a break from it.
I like trying trends so I've done most of the other stuff mentioned.

Mixed media, giant cut files, and one tiny picture on a 12x12 layout. I can not stand a small picture surrounded by a ton of embellishments on a page. I get it's needed for marketing but come on...

I’ve tried most trends. A few that weren’t for me were the whole page cut files, actual stitching on a page, and the one tiny picture pages. I have only tried glimmer foiling because grammadee let me try hers. I haven’t tried the Better Press. Actually foiling in general was a trend I jumped on and then never did much. My Minc is very dusty.

I've never done the one tiny picture on a layout style. I've used one large photo for my daughter's baby album and a few wedding layouts, but never a really small one. I don't like the look.
I've never been one to use tons of embellishments on a layout either.

I love the look of foiling, but all the different ways I have tried to apply it myself have wound up under used. Can NOT get the Spellbinders Glimmer System platform to easily release when it is hot, and what started out as a fun experiment ends up a frustrating experience. Have lots of ideas, but I need a helper to achieve anywhere near what I am looking for. My Minc collects dust, like justjac's b/c I don't have a laser printer, and the different gels work great with stencils (though hard to clean off), but don't foil a stamped image neatly. I even bought the equipment to foil with my Silhouette, but it's not on speaking terms with me now, and I never got around to trying the pens. Speaking of pens, I have tried a couple that heat up and are supposed to help transfer foil to paper, but the foil always wrinkles and my results are a mess.

I like doing artsy things like paint, ink splatters and stitching on LO's. But I haven't tried anything digital or hybrid. I like the look of typed journaling inside shapes, but I don't know how to do that. I also don't have the patience for backing super complicated cut files like Paige Evans, so I haven't done that either.

Among the current trends/products skipped because they're not my style/preference/etc.: - Kit clubs - Projects (e.g. DITL, WITL, DD, JYC) - Non-12x12 albums - Digitals - Electronic cutting machines (for either metal dies or cutfiles) - Foiling, letterpress or gel plate printing, & other cardmaking-related techniques - Product-heavy layouts - Embellishments made with epoxy, acetate, & other non-archival materials - Overabundance of florals, floral-adorned objects (e.g. paintbrush, ghosts, stand mixers, roller skates) - 49 & Market, Inked brands, etc. ... & so many more!

I've never tried machine stitching or foiling. I did one texture paste layout with a white, glittery paste and a star stencil. It did turn out pretty good.

Just said no to: Foiling, letterpress, gel printing, dry embossing/embossing plates, quilling, December Daily, Project Life
I have done a couple of layouts with a single tiny photo on a page because it was all I had for that story.
I have done one of the large cut-files where you fill it in with patterned paper. I like the look, but not so much my style.

Most embellishments and a lot of mixed media stuff.
I do try to get a bit of something if it interests me, but not something like 2 ginormous chipboard stacks from Michael's that have hardly been touched.
Lesson learned.

Foiling-you have to buy a laser printer to go with the other stuff?
Using my die cut machine-honestly it seems like so much work. I bought a Gemini Jr and have hardly ever used it. Do y'all do die cuts in batches? I haven't figured out embossing folder idea either.
backing large cut files with pattern paper-that goes along with using a die cut machine.
I dabbled with my gel plate but my results were pretty sub par.
I do like mixed media-that's my fastest favorite way to make a background page-paint splatter, maybe a stencil with glaze/distress oxide ink!

Alcohol inks (tooooo messy) Foiling (although I own the machine an many many foil rolls) Gel plates (tooooo messy) Letter Press (although I have the platform, plates, dies, inks and papers) Mixed media backgrounds (although I own all the inks, sprays and oxides takes too long and too uncontrolled) Enamel Dots ( I never like where I place them) 2nd, 3rd 4th etc generation stamping (too messy) Splattering ink on my layouts (I just can't bring myself to do it)

Fun question @furrypea. I do not have an electronic die cutter. I have not (and probably won't) tried foiling. Gel-plates - don't even know what that is. Making a planner. My Life is not planner material. Sequins - I love the look of them but I wonder about their longevity/archival quality. But it's been hard not to buy some of the beautiful mixes that I see and how beautiful they are on so many l/o-s.

P.S. I have tried quilling. While it is beautiful, it's just too "fiddly" for me.
