I've seen multiple times in the one thread about the negative reaction and comments being something like campaigning for Trump (not exact words, but similar sentiment)
So I'm wondering what have you done/will you do this election season?
I donate to candidates in more than just my area I text and phone bank and will again this cycle I've door knocked previously. It will depend on my schedule if I will do that this year. I am on the list to be an election judge.
You?

Donate. Postcards. Text bank. Register people to vote.
The last one is only if necessary. I avoid talking to people as much as possible. Lol.
BTW, a great organization to donate through is Oath. Check them out.

We’ve done a bit of everything…donate, phone banks, walking, post cards, yard signs and registering voters.

I am really not political, but I really do not like Trump! I am considering donating to something democrat related, I'm just not sure what yet...
ETA: I have never got a political, handwritten postcard reminding me to vote. We don't register for a political party in Washington, so maybe that has something to do with it, maybe there isn't a list, or maybe I'm just not on it.

Query from a non-USA - what’s postcard writing? Postcards are written to registered voters reminding them to vote, and/or encouraging them to remind their friends/family to vote, etc.

Oh my goodness, I’ve never heard of that - I’m certain it doesn’t happen here. You guys are so much more open about who you vote for than we are - post cards, door knocking, donations, yard signs…. Good on you all!

Good on you all! I'll be honest and say I am not that open. I live and teach in a very red part of a blue state. I do not put candidate signs in my yard (our political director doesn't think they work anyway) and I don't door knock where I live and teach. That may make me a hypocrite, but I need to be able to interact with my students families.

Ah freecharlie - you would fit right in here, most people in NZ are not open politically either. I honestly don’t know how most of my friends and neighbours vote, although I could probably make reasonably accurate guesses. So of course I don’t think it makes you a hypocrite in any way at all, it sound eminently sensible of you!

Who do ya'll use for postcards? I don't want to just do them for Harris though, I think we need to do them down the ballot, too.

For national elections I donate, and write postcards. I also usually take a shift at a table outside my metro station to encourage people to register to vote. This is organized by our county Democratic party. My worst nightmare would be going door-to-door to talk to people so I've never done that.

I don’t do anything, but I can tell you that I will not vote for anyone who spams my phone without my permission.

I don’t do anything, but I can tell you that I will not vote for anyone who spams my phone without my permission. Oh my stars, this! I get texts from the Democrats and emails from the Republicans. I get so tired of having to clear out my inboxes. It’s annoying. I’ll be so glad when this election is over.

I haven't gotten involved in previous races but I feel that we'll need all hands on deck for this one. I donated to United for Harris and I'll put up a yard sign. I'll check out other options to help and see where I feel like my efforts could be used.

What do you consider spamming? I consider it spamming when I get a text from a number I do not know without having my permission. In other words, if I get a text from a store that I have approved for texting, but don’t know the number, it’s fine because I approved it. I will block any texts from an unknown number, especially when dealing with politics. I treat it as a spam call. I do respond telling them that I do not appreciate them spamming my phone, then block the number. Emails are different. I just send them to junk.

i spend my time and money locally where i feel it has a bigger effect on my family. for example currently our senator sherrod brown is being targeted by a maga republican group. he is an amazing senator and man. it's imperative that we keep him.

Same. I donate to local candidates for school board and city council. This year I got reusable bags and take them to the grocery store and library as advertising. I have never donated to a presidential race. Never will.

Campaigning in my city and state for national candidates is not going to move the needle because we reliably vote for democrats. I usually get more involved in state and local races, which often have multiple Democratic candidates, by donating money.
When I was a teen and young adult, I did do a lot of phone-banking and going door-to-door, but I have not done that in a while.

Who do ya'll use for postcards? I don't want to just do them for Harris though, I think we need to do them down the ballot, too. Postcards to Swing States. They provide postcards. I think they may have stopped taking volunteers temporarily. They had so many sign up that they need to catch up with postcards. They may have caught up by now. Postcards to Voters. You provide your own postcards. You supply the postage for both. Both have a script to write from. You could also check with your local campaigns. I wrote postcards in 2022 for a rep for our state house.
