If money and space were no object, what is your dream scrapbook space? What is in your space? Furniture, carts, cabinets, built-ins, no-built ins, closet(s) etc.... What type of room or area? Where is your space located?
My dream scrapbook space, would be an alcove or room with french or sliding doors. My space would be located off the main living space-area. A home shaped like an "E" would be my perfect home space (a long rectangle with three alcoves or rooms with french doors or sliding doors, off of the long part of the "E").
I would have one (or two) walls lined with a total of six....2 (high) x 3 (wide) cube units. On the cube units would be bins that hold all my 13 x 13 envelopes, filled with scrapbook products. In the cube units would be my scrapbooks, as well as bins for miscellaneous storage. One wall would be lined with my three and four tiered rolling carts (they are approx 12in depth x 33in wide), and a rolling desk that would hold my die cuts machines an paper cutter. In the middle of the room, I would have a row of two or three rolling desks....that would serve as my work space. I hate built ins, and wouldn't have any in my scrapbook area-room.

I'd like a door...
When we moved into this house, I went from scrapping out of our linen closet sitting on the hallway floor at the top of the stairs, to having my own tiny room with four walls. Then my children decided they could no longer share a bedroom... I have tried various places around this house, and it would be nice to just have my own space without guinea pigs, Lego, and random stuff no one wants to put away in it.
In my dream house, I'd also have a room just for a library with a nice chair.
As for shelving, maybe cabinets I can close. I don't like how cluttered my stuff looks right now when it's all out in the open...

-I would have one wall lined with bookshelves or a wall unit like the Ikea Ivar system. It would hold books and art/craft supplies. -In the middle of the room would be a big work table, tall enough for Alex drawer units underneath. -On the wall opposite the wall unit would a be a lower desk and storage unit. The desk would house the computer and tv. On top of the low storage units would be things like a printer, paper cutter, etc. I would want the unit low because I would want all the wall space above for pictures, art work, etc. -One wall would be were the big windows are. I'd have a chair there and a small end table so I could sit, read, relax, etc. -The one remaining wall would have a closet. Yeah, I haven't thought about this too much. Other than the master bedroom, we don't have any room in the house big enough for my "dream" room. I love the space I do have, but this would be my dream. Oh, I would also love to have a flat file!

I'd love a room big enough for a table in the middle. Open shelving all around so nothing was tucked away for me to forget about it. Lots of natural light. I do have a room right now, so I am lucky but it's 9x9 and also functions as a home office and a guest room if needed. It has one tiny window that looks directly into the neighbors garage and is directly opposite from the door so either my back is to the door or the window due to how I have it arranged right now.

I'm pretty happy with what I have - I wouldn't be adverse to an overhead light or two, swapping out the carpet for flooring, or adding a door but otherwise, it works well for me and I'm so happy to finally have a craft room

I love built-ins, and would definitely like to have some, LOL! My room is a long rectangle, with windows at one end, so I'd like a large table right in front of the large windows, and have a metal rolling cart on either side of the table, so I could keep all of my most used items in one cart, and everything I need for current projects in the other. Then behind me on both walls I'd like built-ins. The far end of the room has a door on either side, so it acts much like a hall. Once upon a time there was a floor to ceiling bookshelf there, but previous owners decided they'd like to take out the little hallway that led from the kitchen to the basement door and dining room. And when they did that, the dining room ceiling began to sink under the weight of that bookshelf where the wall used to be. So, both because I'd like the support back, and because I'd rather not have the basement door right in my dining room, someday I'd like very much to restore the wall that created that small hallway. Once that's done, I want the end of the future scrap room, between the 2 doors to have its bookshelves back again. Honestly, I don't want a whole lot in terms of scrapping---I basically just wish restoring that room wasn't so far down on our list right now.

My "dream" craft room is mine, since the aesthetic & functionality of the space is tailored to me! The devoted room has an attached bath, spacious walk-in-closet, large windows, & hardwood floors with area rug. Situated in the middle of the room is a counter-height project table, along one wall are two leaning shelves/bookcases which store paper/embellishments & flank a 5-wide & shallow-drawer counter-height cabinet that houses stamping supplies, another wall features a cube-style bookcase that holds diecutting/embossing supplies, & in one corner beside the windows is an oversized chair with ottoman & side table for taking a break, drafting journaling, creating or perusing sketches, etc. Inside the closet is memorabilia/printed photos/wrapping paper/bulky & extra items/etc. All furniture is Pottery Barn (& in a black finish, except for the wheat-stained project table & white slipcovered chair & ottoman).

I already have a great area for crafting, in that I have an area for crafting! However, it could use some improvements.
I always wanted a door to keep kitty from eating my ATG tape and to isolate the mid-page clutter. Now that I have one (daughter's old bedroom), I sometimes feel a bit isolated and have reconsidered moving to a section of our open plan, finished basement. Not sure how to balance that "issue" to create the dream.
I would also like to have a work desk in the center of the room, with views of the window and the door. Right now, I face the window as we still have a full-size bed in the room.
I do love that I have bright colors and whimsical decor in that room, that is definitely a dream achieved.

I love my craft area in my new townhouse. I've been here 2 years now. It has a patio door and my desk sits under a large window. I can fit my desk, a 4' table, my armoire and my Alex drawers, along with chrome shelving to hold all my Iris drawers and some baskets. It's an L off the family room area in the lower level.
Having a decent craft space was near the top of the list when we were looking to move. It was a complete dealbreaker if there was not a dedicated space. Every time I come to play in my space I am so happy! I never had a dedicated space before.
The only thing I would change is having about 2 more feet in each direction!

I love my space now. Large window with a lot of light and nice views, especially at dusk in the fall and winter with the sun setting over the orange groves. It is open and I can still feel as I am part of the going ons in the home.
I used to want an actual room but not anymore. I don't want to feel withdrawn and secluded.

I am in the basement right now, which I don't mind. But I would love to wall off the corner of the basement, have a door, bright white walls, bright lights. Lots of shelves and cases and drawers and things! I am working out of old dressers, bakers racks, large cabinets that don't sit rights so the drawers and doors don't close or open right. I want a nice work place to put all the tools (die cutters, cricuit, printer, computer, etc)
A sit down desk for working and a stand up area for working.

My dream room would be an bonus room, attic space or a loft - just something architecturally 'cute', with windows to a lake or ocean view, and good light, and built in shelves. And it couldn't be hot like most second floor spaces - it would have to have good air conditioning! Ideally my desk would be of some magic dimension that all of my supplies were in reach, but my chair and desk weren't crowded and I had plenty of room to get up and around the desk. Bonus points if the door into the space was hidden somehow, or you accessed it by hitting a secret switch like in Nancy Drew or Scooby Doo Extra bonus points if I could change the wall color at whim by snapping my fingers, and extra EXTRA points if it always looked clean and pretty like the ones you see on Pintrest!

I like my current scrapbook room, though I do wish it was larger and had more space for furniture. I wish it had space for a sofa or upholstered chairs for reading and a larger work table.
I love a mix of bull in furniture + vintage pieces, so I would want more of that.

I used to collect ideas and post to my Pinterest board "Dream Craft Studio". It would be all of those things on that board in a large room with lots of light and an adjacent bathroom and walk-in closet lined with reclaimed wood shelves. Most of the posts on the board have a vintage vibe which I prefer to an Ikea vibe.

Most of the posts on the board have a vintage vibe which I prefer to an Ikea vibe. I have often dreamed of moving my current scraproom (a small L-shaped office space between the living room and the master bedroom) to a larger space, like a whole ROOM. But adding an ensuite and a walk-in closet would be heavenly! Not sure of the "vibe" though. Mine is usually just chaotic mess...
jenr if you discover the technology--or the magic--to make your room happen, I would love to be your first customer.

My perfect room is--I've planned it in one of my kids' bedrooms for when they move out LOL-- You enter the room, and to the immediate right, there are the gutters hung up as shelves, holding all of my punches, floor to ceiling, then floor to ceiling magnetic sheets covered in dies. Then the next wall will have countertop space with 3 sets of alex style drawers dividing the countertop into 3 sections, with 2 upper cabinets for each. The first section will be die cutting. So die cut machines on the countertop, OG sizzix style dies in cabinets, other supplies related to diecutting, in the drawers. Next section is stamping. Platform, blocks, stamping mat on counter, inks wall mounted between counter and cabinets. Stamps in cabinets. Wood stamps in drawers (and any other miscellaneous supplies). Next section is mixed media. Not sure beyond that, it will just be all mixed media type supplies. Next wall has a window, so I want a club chair, maybe a lamp, little table, for reading or hanging out. TV mounted somewhere on this wall, too. Final wall is album display and paper storage (closet is here, too, and I may take the doors off and put all albums in there or something). Center of the room is a twofer desk so I can have a friend over and desktops mounted on storage cubes. NOW, AS A JOKE and a nod to the AI stuff I was spouting off about in the 49 & Market thread--I typed "dream scrapbooking room" into an AI image generator, and here is what it came up with.

Funny coincidence that this first image actually looks like approx. the size/shape of my room. The biggest difference is that I have 2 windows on the far wall, and they basically fill the width of the room.

I am a minimalist and don't really have much for scrapbooking 'stuff' anymore ... so my dream scrapbook area is in the back room of the LSS we used to have in my town! I loved that I could find/buy/use only what I needed for each layout and that I didn't need to store anything at my house ... and that there was always someone there to talk to ... and that my family couldn't bug me with questions (like "when is dinner going to be ready" ) ... and that I didn't have to stop to cook, just take a break to wander across the parking lot with my friends to pick something up ... and that my regular scrapbook night was on the calendar and I just went and I didn't have to figure out when to fit crafting in ...

I like my area it's a loft above our great room. I would love a sink and mini fridge but that's not a big deal. My dream would be to have a professional organizer put my room in order. It's such a mess that I can't work.

I think my current space is going to get there eventually, though right now it is definitely not there yet.
I have come to understand that I like a main work area where my back is not to any entrance or big windows--that's surprisingly important to me. Right now, the only real entrance is technically behind me as I sit at the main work area, but there's a Kallax unit that creates enough of a wall that it doesn't bother me at all.
I want all the stuff I reach for often within reach of the main work area. Then I also want "stations" for things I still like to do, but not as often, and that have different supplies. Example: Stamping/card-making. Generally different supplies. Or electronic cutting--different supplies. Mixed media stuff like art journaling--different supplies.
So I have stations set up throughout my space. I also have storage areas for things I don't use all the time but still need to keep up there. I also like to have chairs for each station so I don't drag one around the room. That keeps me from using the stations.
A sink was a neat dream item and I do use the sink that's up in my studio pretty often. A mixture of open and closed storage was also important, and I do have that. A separate dedicated bathroom was a dream item and that is definitely something I would miss if I had to give it up. A half-bath would do it but this happens to be a full bath.
It was not necessary, but has worked out extremely well, to have a desktop computer up there. I really love that and didn't know I would. Thank goodness, because it was so expensive and I actually bought it for a part-time job I got and then had to quit after several months when I got a huge promotion at my full-time job.
I also need really good light, which I do have up there. And a comfortable place to perch and watch YouTube/read etc.
Combining the home office as a station was a really great addition as well.
Because my late spring/all summer sort of turned into a waiting game/family intensive thing, it was not the season for me to finish my studio, but I believe we're good now and after three weeks away, I'm back home and I think I'm ready to dive back in and get it finished up now.
I suppose it would be really nice to have an Instagram-perfect studio, but that's not really what I have up there. Maybe the eternal strive to get it "just right" is also part of the dream?

I want a "she shed" that is completely separate from the house because when I do scrapbook, I feel guilty about all the things I need to get done around the house. If I have a completely separate space, I don't think about it as much. I'd love to have some room for a couple of friends to craft with me and plenty of natural light. Beyond that I haven't really thought about it that much.

Maybe I should stop breaking up their arguments

I pretty much love my room just the way it is. But, I did get to personalize it when we built our new home 4 years ago.
I've got one entire wall of floor to ceiling windows that look straight out at the Blue Ridge mountains. I have a wall that is a perfect size for my Kallax and we added an outlet that would sit in the center of one of the cubbies, so I could plug things in without a problem. We opened up one wall in the closet that backed on to a linen closet and made it one big closet.
The only thing I might like to have is a sink in the room, but that's not at all practical, and the guest bathroom is right next door, so I don't have much room to complain.
Oh, and the best part is the color - Wisteria but Sherwin Williams.

I have a loft, that has good lighting. I really want good, sturdy cube shelving from Ikea, so I can store my papers and albums better. I also want wood flooring, instead ov the carpet that it now has.
In my previous home, I had no space to craft, so I love having this space, but those two changes would make it perfect.
