My hair has always been fine but seems to be getting worse; we have crappy well water that makes it break more easily, plus I'm older, etc. I've always had bangs and they are getting hard to cover my forehead without "stealing" hair from the sides.
My stylist has suggested to try this; I see that it supposedly also helps skin and nails.
Has anyone tried this with good results? Thanks!
(and YAY, not a political thread!)

I don't take it but my teen DD does. Her hair is beautiful- thick and long. I can't believe how quickly it has grown! She doesn't wear her nails long, but they do grow quickly and are stronger as well. I don't take it for fear of growing my menopausal chin hairs faster, haha! But, she swears by it! I can't remember the brand but it's pink gummies and she gets them either at the grocery store or Walmart (depending where she's shopping when she needs to buy more).

I had to stop taking it because it made me break out with acne like I was back in high school! That’s the only thing it did for me.

I do. I don’t know it’s making much of a difference but it’s not causing me any issues either.

I have for years. I know my nails are much stronger. My hair..it's debatable. If you take thyroid Rx you need to stop it at least a few days before blood work. It needs up the tests.

I've taken it for years. I buy the big bottle from Costco or Sam's Club. It's hard to say if it helps, but it definitely doesn't hurt. I actually find taking collagen daily makes a big difference in my hair, skin and nails as well as my joints. I buy the flavored Sparkle Plus collagen from Amazon and mix it in a smaller blender bottle with water.

I actually find taking collagen daily makes a big difference in my hair, skin and nails as well as my joints. I take collagen as well and have been for about three years now. I believe it’s absolutely made a difference in my skin elasticity, hair growth, and nail strength. I’m not sure about joints as I don’t have any joints issues… unless maybe that’s WHY I don’t! I take the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides and usually get it at Costco. I’m faithful about taking it every morning. I dissolve it in my coffee. I can’t speak to biotin as I’ve never tried that.

Biotin bothers my stomach. I noticed a change in my nails even for the few days I took it before my stomach started bothering me.

Definitely helps my nails. The only thing that’s helped my hair is oral minoxidil and finasteride.

I tried it for 6 months and couldn't tell it did a thing so I quit and save my money.

It didn’t work for me. But you can address the problem of breakage. Check out Abbey Yung on Instagram or YouTube. She is a trichologist and has some good advice regarding breakage and hair loss.

I used to take it, definitely noticed a difference in my nails, but not my hair. However, I stopped because I have Hashimoto's (underactive thyroid autoimmune) and my doctor said there can be an issue with biotin interacting with thyroid medication. So, if you are on ay medication for your thyroid, beware. I hope you find something that helps you!

I was having issues at the time keeping things controlled. So it might not have been a cause, but he asked me to stop taking it in case it was.

I do a daily dose of Glotrition which is a collagen/biotin blend, i guess? Whatever it is, it really works. I haven't had to unclog my shower drain in 3 years! Plus, it tastes really good, so no more gagging over the Vital Proteins one.

I actually find taking collagen daily makes a big difference in my hair, skin and nails as well as my joints. I buy the flavored Sparkle Plus collagen from Amazon and mix it in a smaller blender bottle with water. I started on the Vital Proteins collagen. I mix it with my coffee in the morning. I am still unsure how much to use. There are so many different amounts recommended. I put three heaping spoonfuls in my coffee. I have only been going a couple weeks, so too early to tell much. I didn't take it last week - too busy with guests and busy on the farm. Back on it this week. I take the Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides and usually get it at Costco. I’m faithful about taking it every morning. I dissolve it in my coffee. I got mine online. I see that the one at Costco may have changed? I noticed a change in my nails even for the few days I took it before my stomach started bothering me. Wouldn't that be too soon to tell? Nails and hair are basically dead cells that have been pushed out and harden. My understanding with Biotin (and collagen) is that it is the new growth that will be affected by it. I tried Biotin capsules for almost a year. Didn't notice any difference in my nails. They are thin and it did nothing to help that. My hair has always been fine but seems to be getting worse; we have crappy well water that makes it break more easily, plus I'm older, etc. Do you have a water softener installed in your home? That makes a HUGE difference for me. Without it, my hair is brittle and terrible. I have to use a rust remover salt also, to remove the iron bacteria from the water. Shampoo and conditioner makes a difference. I started using what my stylist uses and my hair has been so much better. I don't generally wash it everyday, but in the summertime, I tend to wash it quite a bit more often, because I mow at least 3 days a week and work outside every day.

I started taking it years ago for my nails. Didn't notice much difference there, but it did seem to help my hair after a few months. I've recently started taking it again in hopes that it will help my poor thin hair!

No, but I give it to our horse to help with her coat and hooves, so It’ll probably have the same effect on humans.

I tried it twice taking it less than 2 weeks each time and had the same experience each time - stronger nails followed by an upset stomach after a few days.

I take two chewable biotin gummies that taste fantastic, daily. I always notice my nails are harder when I take biotin. I also have been taking collagen for YEARS. I switched from Vital Proteins powder in my coffee about a year ago to Spoiled Child liquid. Love it.

I have a disease where I see an endocrinologist. He told me that anytime I get blood work done. I need to stop all multivitamins and biotin at least five days before getting my blood drawn for any reason. He said that the biotin can mess with the results of certain blood test and it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
In my 49 years of life, I had never heard that before
