Opinions? My new Google Pixel 8 was mailed to me and I received an email with instructions for set up. I have the choice to download an ESIM or go to a store and get a physical SIM card. Thanks for your wisdom.

Can you opt for both? I am a big believer in backups and additional sources so I would want a physical AND an electronic copy.

As in one personal and one for work, but all in one phone. You wouldn’t really back up a phone line or access to apps. I’ve done it both ways—with the eSIM (part of the phone) or a SIM card and I’ve not noticed a difference either way. But definitely back up your contacts with the Cloud or another way!

We use eSims when we travel overseas all the time. I don't see why you would need a physical card anymore.

My iPhone 14 has an eSIM. I don’t notice anything different than a physical SIM. My 7 had a physical SIM.
