I get Amazon vouchers for doing market research and like to save them for something I wouldn’t normally buy myself. I ordered a Swarovski necklace a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t notice that the supplier had changed from Amazon to a third party seller overnight. The necklace arrived last week and the crystals didn’t sparkle as much as I expected. (I have some other Swarovski pieces.) After doing various checks I determined it was a fake (confirmed by the "certificate of authenticity" with loads of spelling errors 🙄). I arranged for its return and Amazon promptly refunded me as soon as Royal Mail recorded its collection. Here's my query: the necklace was returned to me this morning with a label saying the addressee was unknown and delivery had been refused. Would you ask Amazon for a return label sending it to them rather than a third party? Would you keep it? It’s counterfeit goods, so I imagine Amazon would just destroy it.
Opinions welcome!

Oooh, interesting one. Do you like it, would you wear it?

I don't know that Amazon would want it back given that it was a 3rd party seller AND that it's fake.
I imagine they'll give you the "donate it, give it away, or discard it" line if you contact them.

Oooh, interesting one. Do you like it, would you wear it? I do like it, it’s very pretty despite not being as shiny as it should be. I don’t think its durability will be very good.

All things being considered, I'd keep it then

Is it Swarovski crystal beads? Swarovski stopped making their crystal beads some time ago. There are other companies that make make comperable Austrian crystal beads and they are very nice but they are also very pricey. If it is crystal beads, it is most likely counterfeit.

I would message Amazon and tell them exactly what happened. It reflects poorly on them to have this hapoen, I would hope they make it right

It’s meant to be an actual Swarovski piece, not a "necklace made from Swarovski Crystal".

I’d just keep it. Wouldn’t even think twice about it.

It reflects poorly on them to have this hapoen, I would hope they make it right I described the situation when I completed the original returns form. Amazon did remove the seller, but by the next day they had reappeared under a new name. That name has now changed twice more. Amazon pays lip service to dealing with counterfeiters. 🤷♀️

When you check the returns details, does it just say it's complete, refund made?

When you check the returns details, does it just say it's complete, refund made? This is what I'm wondering. If you got your refund, you made an attempt to return it, they refused, then I would contact Amazon and let them know. They will probably tell you to throw it out or donate. If you didn't get your refund, I would contact Amazon and raise holy hell.

If you got your refund, in my opinion, case closed. Keep it and enjoy. Sometimes trying to correct an error like this just makes things more complicated.

If they were a legit company I'd try one more time to return it somehow, but given the circumstances you've described, I think I'd keep it.

I wouldn’t spend another ounce of energy on trying to return it and donate it. I’d write an honest review on the listing I ordered from so others are aware.
