There are 2 new shows that have incredible videos and first person accounts of weather and related disasters.
Violent Earth on CNN In the Eye of the Storm on Discovery.
In the Eye of the Storm episode last night was about the tragic wildfire in Lahaina.

In the Eye of the Storm had an episode about a Derecho in my town (Iowa). Watching the footage was terrifying. I wish they would have shown the aftermath of the town though. We lost an estimated 720,000 trees and 65% of the tree cover.

I watched the one last week on the Derecho. I couldn’t watch the wildfire one fire really scares me There was a 6 part drama series called Fires that I was really excited to watch, because it had one of my favourite actors in it. The series was "inspired by real accounts from people who survived Australia's catastrophic fire season of 2019-20." I couldn't make it through the first two episodes, I found it too scary. It surprised me that I couldn't watch it, because I usually love disaster shows, and I watch plenty of violent shows. Maybe because it was based on real stories from close to home?

I've been watching Eye of the Storm on Discovery. I had never heard of a Derecho and it's terrifying.

we've watched this show, too. The Derecho episode was mind-blowing... we had LARGE dust storms / haboobs in Arizona, but NOTHING like those winds. SOOO scary!! We also watched the Lahaina episode last night-- it was just tragic. My DH and I visited Hawaii- Oahu, and Maui and Lahaina a number of years ago, and those were some of our favorite memories of the trip. It's horrible to think of all the destroyed history and loss of life / loss of EVERYTHING.
I thought the show might be cheesy, but the first-person accounts filmed on cell phones actually makes watching those events unfold a LOT scarier.
