My oldest is moving out (boo!) but I am getting a bigger craft room (yay!). My current craft room is a very small, rectangular shape with built in countertops and dark wood cabinets. I have always wanted a bigger, brighter space.
What are things you like/dislike about your craftroom? Things you wish you had? Any pictures to share of your space or others that you love?

Things I love: 1. Vinyl not carpeted flooring - all those little bits of adhesive in the carpets vs super easy clean up is a no brainer for me 2. Natural light 3. Stand up desk - for me this makes creating so much easier as I can reach everything in my craft room in one or two steps but I understand this might not work for everyone as it can be hard on your back and feet after a while 4. Lots of storage in cube units (ikea), a rotating craft tower www.createroom.com/blogs/news/93980161-the-studio-tower and standing desk with pull out drawer for my trimmer www.createroom.com/blogs/news/84934913-the-ez-view-desk-2-05. Bin attached to the desk for easy disposal of rubbish Sorry I have no pics I’m not on Facebook etc but my little set up works really well for me!

I went from a huge room in our old house, to a very small room now. I much prefer my room now. I love my built in cabinets and drawers. I love the wood tile floor and windows. I also have a vintage wooden library desk for my main work space and I love the juxtaposition of vintage wood + white built in cabinets.

Did you downsize a lot of your supplies? I was talking to be DH after I started this post and he suggested I redo my original space to fit my needs better and to look at built-ins. Can you share some photos? You can DM me if you want.

The room I’m in now is an office with cabinets and not really designed for scrapbooking supplies. Do you plan to add more drawers?

I’m way too messy! I am also thinking that I need a standing desk. I really like the IKEA islands that a lot of crafters use. What do you have?

What are things you like/dislike about your craftroom?I like everything, since the aesthetic & functionality of the space is tailored to me! Specifically, I like the large windows, hardwood floors with area rug, attached bath, spacious walk-in-closet to corral memorabilia/printed photos/bulky & extra items/etc., counter-height project table, leaning shelves/bookcases to store paper/embellishments, a 5-wide & shallow-drawer counter-height cabinet that houses stamping supplies, cube-style bookcases with counter for diecutting/embossing, & an oversized chair with ottoman & side table for taking a break, drafting journaling, creating or perusing sketches, etc. Things you wish you had?Nothing. However, I'm considering adding a standard height table/desk (as an alternative to the comfy chair for typing journaling, sketching layouts, etc.) but am concerned it may interrupt the current flow & uncuttered feel of the room. Lauren with Craft Some Joy on YT has some good videos about ways to store paper (papa bear, mama bear, baby bear) that I found helpful in organizing my paper.
I bought a farmhouse style kitchen table from Kmart that I use for my craft table. It was a scratch and dent display one. I used a black sharpie to fill in the scratches on the side.

I love: Cube units with bins. I have 4 2x3 cube units. Rolling carts. Mine are three and four tiered....33in (W) x 12in (D). I have 2 >>three tiered and 3 >>four tiered.
I don't like: Built ins.
I would love to add 2 rolling desks, to use as table-workspace....but I don't have room. I would love to have 2 more 2x3 cube units....but I don't have room.

I will never regret adding a small pushback recliner to my craft room - it's a nice spot to relax and read but it also invites my dh and kids to come hang out with me.

I live in a one-bedroom apartment, so I used to use the table and chair set my grandfather built, but now that I'm WFH basically all the time, I will likely use my work desk because the chair is significantly comfier (sorry, grandpa!). Once we are actually in a house one day, I'd love to get some more Kallax units from Ikea to store my paper and have my Cricut out all the time. One day...

I will definitely be adding a recliner since I love to read! My "craft room" is just a mostly empty room waiting for its turn to be renovated, but the one thing that is in there right now is a recliner all wrapped up in plastic patiently waiting for its chance to be useful again!

Hate the carpet and the overhead lighting could be better.
Love the walk in closet, the Kallaxes, furniture and windows that overlook the beck and side yard.

What I don't like about current craft room:I like my current room but it's not very large and has a small closet that currently holds my Kallax...and not much else. In addition, I have 1 too many bookshelves for the space I'm in (DH didn't want to get rid of them when he changed out the ones in his office, and we had nowhere else to put them both, so my craft room was the winner). One is fully used, but the other has to sit in an awkward position so part of it is unused/unusable. When we move, I'll have a larger room and will be able to fully use it or replace it with something else (like another Kallax or similar) and put that bookshelf into my WFH office. What I love in my current room: * natural light * hardwood floor * my heavy-duty 6-ft long worktable with 2 hutches on top * small shelving unit on wheels that sits perpendicular to my scrap desk (the aforementioned worktable) to make an L-shaped work space * my armoire where I store a lot of supplies behind closed doors I'll have pretty much the same setup in my new craft room but with added space into which I can put more storage of some type (liking the rotating unit linked above). New room has great natural light, LVP flooring, a bigger & more workable closet, and more space overall. What I wish I had:* Alex drawer unit * pegboard and/or shelves above the worktable * more storage - not sure what shape it will take; I'll figure that out as I go along after we move and I get set up in the new space Another thing that should be better in the new house is that my craft room will no longer become the default dumping ground for "extra" small furniture pieces no one knows where to put and the empty boxes for Christmas storage that sit around after we put up the tree and other holiday decorations. It will be a few months, but at some point I'll be able to share photos once I get my new space all set up. I'm excited for it!

DH and I were initially sharing this small space and I didn't change the layout when he left to take over our bonus room a couple years ago. I did add a second Ikea table top with two Alex drawers for legs where his desk had been on the right. This isn't the greatest photo (and sorry it is so big) but you can see my favorite thing which was to take off the closet doors. What I love: - engineered hardwood floors
- south facing window
- no closet doors meant I could fit an Expedit along the window wall
- mix of drawers and cubbies to house things
- desk facing into room/door
- a couple rolling Raskog carts
What I'd change: - better chair
- thinking hard about switching the second 4x4 Expedit to the left of the door with the table on the right side of the room
- better use of wall space
- paint color (I don't hate the yellow - it was the color when we bought 16 years ago so the room needs a refresh)
Lisa Soares is another great source of craft room inspiration. You can see her IG account here @lisasoares

I will definitely be adding a recliner since I love to read! Linda, that is such a great idea. What a nice spot to read, have guests, flip through papers, or to sit and watch a video/scroll Pinterest. I am adding this to my "one day" wish list.

I love the Kallax shelves for album storage and no carpeted floors.
I don't like that the "office" is in the same room.
I would add wall shelves and switch out my Raskog next to my desk with another set of Kallax shelves, which I plan to do. I even have the needed shelves. Just need to find the time and place to put them together. I wish I had a bigger table to work on, but that would only work if I didn't need the office-y stuff in the same room.
Have fun designing your new space!

I just bought some Billy bookcases with glass doors and I love the look - and it forces me to keep the inside clean. I bought pretty gold baskets, and I also have my stamps in bins in them. The glass doors make the room look so pretty and open.
I also have built-ins on the opposite side of the room. They work well because my desk is placed in between them, it's a natural sort of flow.
While natural sunlight is terrible for craft supplies, I also really love having patio doors in my room, leading to my backyard. I love looking outside and seeing the different seasons.
