My sad little Dell laptop was slowly showing signs of needing to be replaced. I can't completely get rid of it, as I have a direct to food printer that the software needs it for. But I've been coveting an iMac for years.
My very last two car payments are upon me - completely paid for with cake. I'm a bit proud of that! But having the biweekly car payments gone I decided to spring for an iMac. It's pretty and purple and all mine! LOL
It came yesterday - and according to all I asked, setup should have been easy peasy. It was not. For some reason it kept hanging on the cloud sync and even when it passed it nothing was working right. And the data migration from my laptop to the iMac didn't work.
After two service chats, an erasing of the system and reloading the software, it was decided it was my apple account, so she had me update my iphone and ipad, and to call back to a senior advisor. I was on hold for an HOUR. So I started a third chat and she set up a call back asap.
Senior advisor poked around my system, did some reading on his end, and discovered others with the same issue. And it was the migration that caused the issue. SO I did a second erase of the system and reloaded the OS again. This time, skipped the data transfer from the laptop.
And I'm up and running this morning!! And MAN! I downloaded Chrome (it's what I'm used to and how I run all the things lol) and was fully prepared with my laptop beside me to spend an hour adding sites & passwords manually. But when I signed into Google with my biz account - it was all there!! Colour me impressed!! Yay!!
Now my only issue will be getting all my biz photos & files from the laptop over to the iMac. They are all the things I use for socials posting and such.
Here's a question - because I'm so used to a windows based system! Currently on the laptop, I have files for photos (wedding pro shots, styled shoots by name, my own branding shoots, branding files - all under one Pictures umbrella file. But on the iMac I only see the Photos icon that currently has all my phone/ipad photos in it. Can I set up files somehow with all these photos like it is in Windows? Or will it all be one giant mess?
