It sounded like Suni Lee and Simone had some more difficult moves that they didn’t use. Do you think they will do them in the individual? Or just play it safer? I think theyvwere pushing more for the gold for the team today. I cam see them doing the more difficult moves either in the all round or individual events

freaking fantastic! That Suni girl is fire! And Simone, I am so happy for her..for them all! WTG girls! Although I have to admit, the Men's gymnastics was far more emotional and exciting for me! Who wasn't swooning over Clark Kent Stephen Nedo...something stealing the show!

I thought part of it was Simone, specifically, scaled back because of her calf injury. I'm excited for the individuals though. Did anyone hear the "unofficial" team name for them? The team was being interviewed and it wasn't a "work safe" name, so she tried to give the abbreviation. It was FAAFO (usually FAFO) aka: F*ck Around And Find Out. Simone later posted to her SM and said it was actually "The Golden Girls" because of their ages.

I’m really hoping that jade carey isn’t sick with something contagious given that they still have her with the team. Word is it's food poisoning. It would be such a bummer to feel so ill during your big competition after working so hard!

Apparently she was in the restroom for a long time. I hope she feels better soon!!

I missed it (on a meeting) - is that why we are 6 points down now??? No, I think what you were seeing was because we still hadn't completed as many routines as other countries, so we didn't have as many points. In any case, GOLD for Team USA! All the Simone Biles naysayers (not here) can suck it! There have been a few peas saying Simone should give someone else a chance and things like that. I think the exact opposite. I think it is amazing that she is still the leading scorer at her age. Typically gymnasts in their early 20s were considered old. I love that she has been to so many Olympics and that she is pulling in the scores she is. I hope she gets gold in the individuals as well. She is amazing. I thought those comments about her giving other people a chance were stupid. Other gymnasts had a chance to vie for their spot. They couldn't beat her. She is still killing it out there. Good for her. Happy for the whole team. They all did great.

I did not know people were criticizing Biles for continuing to compete. So wrong. She has been, and continues to be, a leader as well as a remarkable athlete.
Just a quick comment about Laurie Hernandez and how pleasant it was that she only made a few quick comments and let us enjoy the events!

I do rather wish they'd let Hezly Rivera do at least one apparatus, given that we won by almost 6 points. I get it, but she made the team for a reason and scores great in some events. She was still a genuine part of the team, but I honestly think she deserved that chance.

She was still a genuine part of the team, but I honestly think she deserved that chance. I saw this on an NBC article … “The 16-year-old New Jersey native was not part of the U.S. lineup for the team final after failing to qualify in any of the individual events (uneven bars, floor, beam or vault). It was the first time since 2008 that Team USA had a women's gymnastics member not compete in the team final.” I don’t know if that is an actual rule, or just something that determines who the US would put in the finals. Also, the team doesn’t know how big a lead they will have when the event starts and I don’t know if they can change the start list once things get under way.

I don’t think anyone thought they would win by that much,

I wouldn’t say they were criticizing, just saying they wished Simone Biles would let someone else have a chance. I still think that is a silly way to think and Simone doesn’t have a gold for all around, so if she qualifies why shouldn’t she compete? And she is a great leader and representative of the USA.
