It's horrific and baffling.
It happened yesterday, the Police have a suspect in custody. He is 17. The BBC have a live feed with developments.
The school summer holidays have just started here and this was a fun summer event, Taylor swift music, yoga, bracelet making.
The girls were six, seven and nine. RIP. Let's hope the others make a quick recovery.

FFS!!! I'm angry and I'm heartbroken for those sweet girls and their families. The girls and adults who witnessed it happen are traumatized, no doubt.

The sheer randomness and the fact that it was so totally out of the blue must be mind boggling...I sure everyone will struggle for a very long time to come to terms with it, if ever. Those poor little innocent babies...and their parents have to live with knowing they couldn't protect them  |

I looked at the pictures of those little girls on the news tonight and all I could think was that it could have been my granddaughter. She’s just a bit younger, but she loves her dance class and this is the sort of summer vacation activity my DDiL would enrol her for.

My daughter is 10, and we do events like this in our area all the time. I know we can't protect them from everything and we have to live our lives, etc....but it's heartbreaking that this kind of thing can literally happen anywhere, at any time.

I follow Sky news on YouTube and they were streaming live yesterday, so I was aware of this tragedy. It's so horrific. My heart breaks for everyone involved. I just listened to someone who was driving past the studio as kids were running out and he stopped to help. The people who came upon that scene will never be the same. The children and adults will never be the same. It's so heartbreaking for all involved. British peas, can you tell me why people were fighting with police in town today? I'm seeing footage of a police van on fire and people throwing things.

I follow Sky news on YouTube and they were streaming live yesterday, so I was aware of this tragedy. It's so horrific. My heart breaks for everyone involved. I just listened to someone who was driving past the studio as kids were running out and he stopped to help. The people who came upon that scene will never be the same. Any excuse to say "It's one of them, not one of us" but the local people have been very quick to say that they hate that this is happening and that it's not representative of how the community feels. |

I live about 10 miles from Sandy Hook and sometimes, frustratingly, you just never know. No one ever made any sense of the perpetrator's reasoning for killing all those children. I'm so sorry about what happened there - it shakes you to your core. |
