From yesterday's thread: I still remember reading a book on the beaches of Hawaii about atrocities in China during Mao's Cultural Revolution. What was I thinking bringing that for a vacation. That's definitely not the kind of book I think of when I'm deciding on beach holiday reading! Co-incidentally (kind of), I was in Hawaii in June 1989, when the Tiananmen Square massacre happened. I remember watching the news reports on the hotel room TV in horror. I tried a couple of new dishes for dinner. Once again, I think that jeremysgirl would like the two vegetable sides that I made: Asian Style Roasted Sesame PotatoesSticky Chilli Asian Greens - This recipe isn't online, it's in a magazine. It's stir fried veggies with a delicious sauce made from char siu sauce, vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil. I could have sworn that I'd bought a jar of char siu sauce, but couldn't find it. DD to the rescue, she made up a batch of it from scratch!

When I'm on vacation I like to read chick literature. Shopaholic type stuff is perfect for travel. bc2ca , that's photo of your husband is hilarious. teddyw , that sounds like a punishing trip. May the rest of your vacation include returned luggage by tmw am and lots of fun.
AussieMeg, could you please repost the recipe for the potatoes? When I click on it I'm back on the dinner thread. That looks delicious.

bc2ca that book would have taken up most of the carryon. He carries book(s) in his personal item (backpack) and I'm sure it weighs twice as much as his carry-on (and helps him get away with ignoring the super strict weight limits on the small European discount airlines we use to get to the islands). I hope your DH's luggage is delivered overnight and everything goes smoothly for the wedding and rest of your vacation. AussieMeg, your link for the sesame potatoes comes back to the thread. I don't know why I never add potatoes to an Asian meal - always rice or noddles - but these look delicious.

AussieMeg , could you please repost the recipe for the potatoes? When I click on it I'm back on the dinner thread. That looks delicious. I don't know how that happens. I always make sure the link is correct. Anyway, I have fixed it now, Thanks for telling me! I don't know why I never add potatoes to an Asian meal - always rice or noddles - but these look delicious. Yes, same here - potatoes are not what I would usually think of when decided what side dish to make for an Asian meal! Although I do make Bombay Potatoes quite often, mainly with Indian style dishes.
