Good morning.
Dh is finishing painting the window trim today. I'm putting more stuff away in our living room and my office. Apart from that , I hope to pull out my puzzle. I'm still quite sleepy. Apparently, it's going around.
Dinner will be rechauff, enchiladas for dh.
What's on your menu?
What are you up to today?
Wishing everyone a calm, happy day!

Well I've started day 2 of hold from hell, so I'm really, really grumpy. I promised my son tortellini, but I need to get to the store for that, so we'll see. Grrrrrrr - nothing worse than trying to get a simple mistake fixed and being caught in a bureaucratic nightmare of incompetency.

Darcy Collins , was that meant to read "hold from hell" or "cold from hell"? Either way, I'm sorry that you're having a bad day while it's still morning.

Darcy Collins means hold from hell. She’s still on hold from yesterday. Dinner will be the barbacoa I said yesterday. Found some potatoes I can mash and still have green beans from the garden. Hope everyone is well.

Hi all, I have stayed home all day! I am getting organised for my surgery and recuperation. Today I wound eight skeins of yarn and started making project bags - yarn, needles and pattern all in one place, so DH can just grab one to bring to me if I finish my first hospital project, or I will have ready when I get home and don't have the energy to win. Diner tonight is chicken on the grill - I haven't thought far enough ahead to marinades or spices (it's only 5:40pm here, what's the rush!) - and a pasta salad (that is already made) Darcy Collins - I hope your day gets better.

Good morning! I adjusted quite quickly to my plant based diet. The past week however, has been fraught with some serious gas issues. So much so that I finally called the doctor because I was terribly afraid the plant based diet had exposed some IBS I didn't know I had due to low fiber intake. My doctor reassured me that 2-4 months into a plant based diet is when the gut microbiome is really starting to change. As long as I am eliminating regularly and solidly (I am) This is not IBS. She was even congratulatory because she was like, this proves your gut microbiome is going through some really good changes. I'm like, Jeremy can't stand to be around me, but OK! LOL! So I guess all this changed eating is really having some serious impacts. Just an aside too, I went through an acne phase from weeks 2-5. I realized that the moisturizer I was using on my face is too heavy now. I haven't struggled with acne in like 20 years. So there are bunches of changes. I'll be eating rechauffe for dinner. I have enough food from the past two nights to cover dinner.

I have the cold. I am feeling yucky, which is putting a crimp in my activity plans. Was hoping for a nice leisurely bike ride to the lake. 😕
Dinner will be rechauffe, the pork potato and carrots from last night. I did put the other 2 portions in the freezer for a later date

Found some potatoes I can mash I am jealous of the amount of time you have mashed potatoes. And I'm not even sure why I don't make them more often because I feel like there is just about nothing that tastes more satisfying than mashed potatoes. Today I wound eight skeins of yarn and started making project bags - yarn, needles and pattern all in one place, so DH can just grab one to bring to me if I finish my first hospital project, How long do they think your hospital stay will be?

lucyg , how are you feeling today? sueg , making project bags is a great idea. This will be over and you'll be back on feet before you know it. jeremysgirl , sounds like you're taking great care of yourself and it's working well. Woohoo! leannec , how do you feel today? I hope that your cold is better.
karenlou, I hope that this cold passes quickly and that you can take your bike ride another day this week.
cadoodlebug, good meme. You had me at steak and corn on the cob. Yummy.

jeremysgirl, the surgeon I spoke with said normally it’s a week. He said the first night after the op, I’ll be in ICU, then transferred back to a regular room. I am checking in the day before surgery, but I assume the week is from the surgery day, not from check in

I don’t actually make mashed potatoes all that often … probably talk about it more than I follow through on. But they are really, really good when I do make them. ETA scrapmaven, I’m feeling well enough. Thanks for asking. So looking forward to next week’s chemo. NOT!

I feel you Darcy Collins. I still can't get thru to my dr's nurse. She called me last week and I have waited on hold multiple days to no avail. Of course, I am always on hold with a lovely government agency. Starting to plan for some classes I will be teaching for my employees. I am not feeling it right now. Need to find something else to work on today. DH is finally feeling better. Luckily, I have not caught the crud... Meeting some friends for diner tonight. Not sure where we will be going.

Yes hold from hell. 7 hours yesterday and 4 different people and 4 disconnections and then 3 hours so far today to learn they want a letter. So, so, so ridiculous. Nothing I hate more than utter incompetence in fixing their own mistake!!!!

leannec , how do you feel today? I hope that your cold is better. Awww! Thanks for remembering! I'm feeling a lot better today ... still have the symptoms but I don't feel like I've been run over by a bus! I bought a portable air conditioner during Prime Days and managed to set it up last night in my bedroom (all by myself!) ... I was able to sleep for THREE straight hours at one point in the night! . I never do that! I have terrible chronic insomnia and my sleep habits would prevent most people from functioning at all ... not me! Anyway, hopefully having a cold (and I mean cold) room to sleep in will help me get more shut-eye ... I hope no one minds that I will continue to post photos from the "Alberta Adventure" my friends and I took last week ... you have only seen the wolfdog sanctuary so far ... Today I have a few shots we took during our evening visit to the Calgary Tower ... we went to the top and had and excellent dinner at the revolving restaurant called Sky360 The prairie dog sign was the location of my Jeep in the parking garage ... we have a history of getting lost in parkades (last year when I visited them we were two hours trying to find the car in Ottawa!) ... we just had to take the photo for practicality and fun! Dinner is up in the air ... get the pun? ... hehehehehe!!! My mum might come over if we think she won't catch my cold and we'll figure something out.

Happy Birthday to your DGS, hutchfan! Ugh, Darcy Collins, sorry you have devoted 2 days getting this problem on the way to being fixed. I have to add my 2 cents to the book discussion yesterday. I still prefer to have a good old hard cover book in my hands and love the library. After moving way too many books over the years, including from Canada to the US, we did a massive purge before moving to CA. Almost all the paperbacks were donated to friends lake and ski cabins so we can visit them regularly and the hardcovers sold. Years ago I was gifted the tablet reader Barnes & Noble put out (Nook?) and really, really tried but just never got the hang of it. Every Christmas I think about putting a Kindle on my list and giving it another try but haven't yet. We are having foccacia sandwiches with fresh pesto, roast beef, tomatoes, pickled red onion & arugula along with a chopped cauliflower salad.

This was very kind of you. I have to add my 2 cents to the book discussion yesterday. I still prefer to have a good old hard cover book in my hands and love the library. I share your sentiments. I have said it before but I just cannot spend all day on a computer and then attempt to read electronically. My brain needs a rest. Several years ago, too, Jeremy really pushed me to use the library instead of buying books. And really, I've been reading more than ever since I refreshed my library card. I even have a big enough purse that I can take a book with me wherever I go. Had a nurse at the hand surgeons office say she doesn't know the last time she saw someone reading in the lobby.

I love a book that I can hold, refer back if I need to and know when it's going to end. BUT, I finally gave in and got a Kindle about 5 years ago and love it for going on vacation. We used to take a small suitcase of books when the 3 of us went on vacation! And I have found some books only come in an eBook format so the Kindle comes in handy for that. For regular not-on-vacation reading, I'm probably 75% hard copy 25% Kindle.

Apparently we had a nasty thunderstorm around 5 am. I didn’t hear a thing! When I take out my hearing aids, I’m stone deaf! DH got up at 5 am because Walker was very anxious, whining and pacing the floor.
The storm brought more humidity which makes sitting in the deck impossible. Thank goodness for central air!
As you know, I love to read. I just went to the grocery store and dropped off some donations at the second hand store. I felt the need to browse the books and found 10 that I needed to bring home. They sell them for 50 cents and I’m happy to help the cause, but seriously I don’t need any more books. I have never tried to read on a Kindle or other device because I like to hold the book in my hand.
Supper will be chicken souvlaki (using rechauffe chicken) on Naan bread for me and chili for DH.

Rosie went on strike and I had to figure out all the error messages. I love tech till it doesn't work. Had a nice walk and did my back PT. I visit my wrist PT today. Regarding kindles I don't like backlit tablets but my kindle voyage isn't so it's not hard on my eyes like my iPad was. taylortroop Poor Walker! Tonight we will have leftover California rolls and some gyozas.

Went to a farm road stand and bought fresh peaches, apricots & sweet corn. This combination will be dinner tonight.
Last night dinner was (almost) free as our local CAA had a promotion with Kelsey's Restaurant that you received 10 chicken wings with the order of a beverage. I also had onion rings. The big TV's had the Olympics & baseball on.

I'll pick up a couple used paperbacks from our Friends of the Library store for a beach vacation or long flight and just leave them behind for the next traveler. DH, on the other hand likes to bring the biggest, heaviest book he can find. This is him with his beach read in Greece a few years ago. We traveled with carry-on only.

bc2ca that book would have taken up most of the carryon. About 27 hours after leaving yesterday we made it to Italy. Delays and lost luggage and then incompetent gps made it the longest trip. We missed the rehearsal/family get together sadly. We did make it here before they got back and they were all starving. It was only appetizers. Dh literally has the clothes on his back. We missed the shops before they closed. They don’t know if they’ll be here tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a good day. The wedding has been pushed to 7pm start because of heat so we have all day to do stuff. Craving mashed potatoes now ladies thanks to the discussion. Laughed at that meme.
