How is summer over already?
In July, I ran two 5ks improving my time and started Iron (although I've slacked this week). I also walked a little with my friend who just moved this week so I am now on my own.
I also start back to work next week and I'm worried I will backside. I may post daily for accountability.
My goals for the month is continue Iron, start running more (inside until the air is better and then outside), yoga before bed. Plan and track meals. I'll settle for a minimum of 3 workouts a week but aim for 5+.
I'm signing up for the Rock and Roll running series in Vegas. I will walk the 5k with a friend and I am contemplating running wither the 10k or the half. The half seems daunting, but I could train for it. Not sure yet which it will be.
While my weight isn't down much, I can feel muscle and I've lost an inch or two in both my waist and my hips, so I'll take it.
How did July go for you? Any goals for August? Any new tips?

I ended July down 1.6, pretty pitiful...however I was down not up!!! My goal is still to lose the 5 pounds before I get on the plane to France on the 23rd.
I did take the advice of one of the Peas and moved my dinner salad to lunch time and added another veggie/salad at dinner...I'll see tomorrow how that worked. I only get on the scale once a week. The salad and some fruit did help hold me till dinner. I also stopped having wine EVERY night at dinner....so I'm sure those saved calories will make a difference.

I'm making a commitment to changing some of my habits this month. I was told that I have NAFLD so I need to make some changes. Planning on eating better for my body (pretty basic:more veggies, less simple carbs, etc.) and I'm committing to 30 days of movement of at least 30 minutes/day. I would love to lose a bit of weight but I'm going to start with how I'm feeling. Dh is joining me as well which helps.

I just want to say I am officially down 35 pounds (the weight of a microwave apparently). I expected it to be easier to lose weight on the Ozempic/Wegovy, I've been on since late September, but I'm good with slow if it helps to keep it off!

I’m down a couple pounds this month - feeling on track for Spain next week!
I’ve been running most mornings, and going to barre in evening.
I made the best breakfast yesterday (I wait to eat until 10 or 11am) - I grated 2 zucchini, sautéed it for a few minutes then added 3 whipped eggs. Served it with sliced avacado and hot sauce - so good!

I was down 2 lbs in July. My walking has been a little less with the heat. Clothes have been fitting better so it's a win in my book.
My August goal is to increase my daily steps and add more strength training.

do you eat enough protein with your salads? I add cheese, hard boiled egg, avocado and reduced sugar crasins to the salads. If there is left over chicken I will add that in as well

I know I'll be eating out for lunch most of next week, so I need some sort of plan.
I'm worried about dlacking once I go back to work.
Today I ran/walked 3 miles and did Day 17 of Iron

I keep forgetting to participate in this thread. I lost 2 pounds this week, despite eating out several times. We had my ds and his family up from Georgia for a week, then the following week my dh's cousins from Denmark were here. So even though I ate out (and didn't necessarily make great choices) we also walked a million miles. omg I did Arlington Cemetery twice, once by tram and once part tram and part on foot (although even when you take the tram you still do a fair amount of walking), and walked the monuments around the Tidal Basic twice. That's about 3.5 miles to get all of them in. Plus walked a few museums. So that's why I lost weight. My big accomplishment has been to eliminate all junk sugar -- cake, cookies, candy, etc. I started this several months ago after I had covid and lost all desire for coffee. That meant cutting out all that sweetened coffee creamer. So I just decided to do all sugar. Except for now I'm not fussing about sugar that's in things like bbq sauce or bottled spaghetti sauce because I really don't eat much of those things. If I was having a burger every day slathered in bbq sauce I'd probably have to rethink that, lol. But for now, no. I also gave up Diet Coke, which is amazing. I switched to flavored sparkling water, which I used to hate. ick and yuck. But, somehow I think my taste buds have changed, either from covid or from just cutting out sugar, and now I like it. It satisfies my desire for a cold bubbly drink. The most amazing thing about giving up almost all sugar is that I don't have the desire for it now. The thought of eating an entire large size Snickers Bar (my absolute favorite) makes me slightly nauseous. I joined a FB group for giving up added sugar, and of course it's full of wacky people (as all these groups are, lol). Some of them are fanatics and have given up all fruit except berries, all dairy, and some other things. Not me. I eat a lot of fruit, and it's what got me through cravings at the beginning. Watermelon especially. I figure that if my doctor wants me to give up fruit she'll tell me. (my blood work was all normal, so there's no reason to...)

I'll get back up starting tomorrow.
How are you all doing?

I have been working out this entire summer and tracking my foods and the most I can say is, at least I didn't gain. Menopause is hard. I'll keep doing all the things but it would be great if my body would just give me a little encouragement. I do appreciate that I'm healthy and can do things, lift things, run if needed and take no meds but smaller pants would be nice too!

Not a lot of change around here. I had a follow up with my new primary care today. My blood work for the most part looked good. Have to make a conscious effort to get my cholesterol down a little bit and keep from getting dehydrated. She wants me to start on some supplements and follow up in 2 months. Also confirmed I have a large ovarian cyst that might be restricted by scar tissue. I have a consult with my gyn on Wednesday but I have a feeling the stupid thing is going to have to be removed.

Wondering how the diagnosis of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is made...can you shed some light? I'm starting this week to cut down (eventually hope to nearly cut OUT) added sugar, which is my primary 'poor food choice'. If I can get that under control, I think I will not only feel better but perhaps drop the few pounds that I hope to. Trying to eat mostly from the fridge (that is, fresh foods) and less from the pantry (that is, processed foods).

Mine was quite accidental, I had a hysterectomy last year and during my 6 week check up my doctor was showing me pictures from my surgery and you could see the yellow of my liver.

Hi! Good morning. I haven't yet checked in this month but things are going well. I have 119 days (17 weeks) cigarette free. The cravings are getting less and less. I had a little stress this week which made me want to smoke. But I didn't because that wouldn't have helped anything.
I am 10 weeks into my plant based eating and I am down 13 pounds. I consider that a big win as I have a lot of health challenges and I haven't limited quantities or sugar or anything like that.
One interesting thing is that I've almost totally weaned myself off caffeine. I really didn't think that with my bipolar I felt any effects of caffeine. So I kept thinking why drink caffeinated coffee then. My morning coffee right now is 1/3 caffeinated. My afternoon coffee is all decaf. Everything would be decaf except that I can't bring myself to just throw the caffeinated away. Seems wasteful. But I was hoping it would have good effects on my blood pressure.

I don't have time now to weight train and run and it is frustrating. I wish I could run outside in the dark by myself and feel safe as I could go at 5 in the morning and the weight train after work.
I'm gonna get my treadmill set up, but it is old (like at least 25 years old, maybe more) and loud.

Make sure it is still in good condition, esp the firmness of the belt.
You can damage your knees and back walking/running in a treadmill that is incorrect.

Hi I saw my GP because I gained 50 lbs. She wanted me to try metformin and everyone told me how nauseous I would be so started keto again and have lost 7 lbs in 10 days of careful eating. Any joint that used to hurt got better and mental clarity without sugar is a thing. I do have good snacks in the fridge for late at night eating. I get hungry at 11 and eat. It’s not even 10 pm and I am planning my snack for later.
Exercise is killing me. One problem today. I have dropped a size so that was good. I have a long ways to go.
