Tell me everything I need to know.
eta…sorry, I didn’t have my glasses on to add more. We’re planning to stay on the Canadian side. I just got off the phone with a friend who said there is a lovely state park on the American side that is a must do. We’re going in the next two weeks! I have a surgery coming up and want to squeeze this in first.

We saw it from the American side. The views were awesome. The American side is not as built-up as the Canadian side, less options for lodging and touristy stuff. There is a state park surrounding the falls, so it is all natural around the immediate area of the falls. We went in early Spring, so the Maid of the Mist ride was not open yet. There was still ice in the river. Outside the park, there are some restaurants and shops, but nothing really much. I enjoyed the views, and maybe next time we'll go the Canadian side.

There really isn't much on the American side of Niagara Falls, right by the actual waterfalls.
Goat Island (?) is part of a park. There is the Casino and a few restaurants in that area.
Use the Rainbow Bridge to cross into Canada.
So many places to stay & eat.
Go down the Niagara Parkway to Niagara on the Lake. Peaches are in season & yummy.
Many wineries to visit and sample the wines.
WARNING: There are several different taxes or fees that might be added to your bill. Most places have an overnight parking fee.
Metric Unit of measure is used for weight & measure.
Canada Parks have many beautiful parks along the parkway and by the Falls Proper area.
Use the WEGO bus system if possible as it is cheap & easy, rather than driving around the falls area.

I have no advice, as I have never been. But I did want to say hello and I hope you are doing well.

I have no advice, as I have never been. But I did want to say hello and I hope you are doing well. Thank you. I still don’t have a plan or a date. Another diagnostic mammogram tomorrow. Tomorrow is also three weeks since I did the gene test so I guess that news will guide our decision.

Just a reminder that you probably need a passport, unless you have an enhanced drivers license to cross the border into Canada

We were in Niagara Falls last weekend. We were on the Canadian side and only stayed one night. We didn't do a lot of the touristy stuff (maid of the mist, the zipline, etc) It was so hot so we walked around the falls and then visited the casino (just to cool off ). We walked around Clifton Hill which I must say was really nice. It has changed so much since we were there last (probably 6 years). There's lots of things to do there as well. We drove to Niagara on the Lakes which I would love to go back to. We were only there for a few hours but if you like wine it's the place to visit. Downtown Niagara on the Lakes is beautiful. We stopped there on our way to Toronto so didn't visit many of the wineries. The line to cross the boarder wasn't too bad and it seemed to move quickly. Just have your passport open and ready. We paid everything with our credit card which automatically would send us a text with the amount we paid American. We have never been to the American side (we keep saying we will go across the rainbow bridge but we never do). The Canadian side is so beautiful.

I was so disappointed the first time I went to Niagra Falls in high school--I was expecting a "wonder of the natural world" to be more nature-filled! Or even like Banff, which is ridiculously tourist trappy, but is a smallish and concentrated area and then you have all the mountains and lakes and such surrounding it ... Definitely didn't expect a very tacky touristy downtown ending at the falls! The falls themselves are very impressive and worth seeing (both from the shore and from the Maid of the Mist), but Niagra on the Lake is by far a nicer place to go to hang out, in my experience ...

I will second Bunnyhug as I tell everyone who asks about Niagara Falls to not miss Niagara on the Lake. We went 10 years ago and kind of stumbled there by accident and every member of my family loved the place. I would love to do longer trip there next time.
