Basically, Mike Johnson isn't going to certify anything.
The Joy Reid clip is on YouTube, Feb 23 2024.

But I thought Kamala would still certify?

I read the Newsweek article. Basically the fear is that the R majority in the house will refuse to certify any house seats where Dems win by a slim margin, thus perpetuating their own majority. Then they will refuse to certify certain swing state elections, which would mean that no candidate has the number necessary to win in the EC and the election would be thrown to the House, which would, of course, install Trump.
This wasn't possible in 2020 because Democrats controlled the house, and the president of the Senate, Mike Pence, refused to go along with Rs plans. It only takes one house of congress to refuse to certify and overthrow the whole thing, so if Rs can either hold on to their majority or pretend to by refusing to certify certain house seats, we're well and truly screwed.

But I thought Kamala would still certify? Won't matter if the House refuses to do so. In 2020, Democrats controlled the House, so it wasn't an issue. Literally Mike Pence saved democracy that year. It won't happen again.

I would hope that in that case Biden uses his immunity and has them arrested. I can’t imagine that the possibility described has not occurred to someone.

This is really scary and definitely something to be aware of. If Trump loses this election, will we still end up with him? I think that the fact that they have these plans says a lot.

I thought it was more along the lines of Mike Johnson will not swear in the new winning House members on Jan 3rd if it causes a Democrat controlled house. Therefore, Republicans will still control the House on Jan 6th.
Didn't Johnson hold off swearing in George Santos replacement so the house had the votes for the Myorkus impeachment?

Of course Biden knows and his lawyers, staff, et al .. as do we!! Send dollars to beat Johnson if you want to. Every member of the house, all 435, faces election this year in November!

I posted about this a couple of days ago, and then I saw a TT where the lady very calmly stated that they (the Dems) are preparing for this very thing, and basically, if the election judges (I believe there are at least 70 if them) refuse to certify, it goes to court and the judge forces them to certify if there is no reason why they shouldn't. If it is a landslide, there is not as much for them to have a leg to stand on either. Bottom line tho, is that it will be dragged out, and it will be ugly in November.Best thing we can do is vote blue, and make it a tidal wave, so there is no real question.

So I saw on YT that Raffensberger the secretary of GA, you know the one that recorded the csll with Trump for votes, made a website for voter registrations to be cancelled supposedly for dead relatives or if you move out of state. But anyone can do it. What? I thought he had integrity!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK4b-meIGPUThis is Mark Elias whose law firm goes around filing lawsuits against the republicans' voter suppression antics. And there is the Rachel Maddow piece about tramp admins in place to subvert the election www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQfI3awx-woIt is not going to be pretty in November.

Therefore, Republicans will still control the House on Jan 6th. Didn't Johnson hold off swearing in George Santos replacement so the house had the votes for the Myorkus impeachment? Yes, this is part of the plan. The Republicans hold such a small majority, I think they're expecting to lose. If Johnson delays swearing in new Representatives, Republicans could still control the House and refuse to certify the election. In 2022 an election integrity bill was passed making it clear that it was the job of the VP to certify. And a greater number of members will be required to object (1/5 of each chamber) but the Republicans can still potentially interfere, refuse to accept certificates from certain states, force the outcome of the election to the House and re-elect Trump Essentially overturning the election, throwing the election and democracy into chaos. Everything would be challenged in court but with the current configuration of the Supreme Court, that is not comforting. Some Republicans like JD Vance and Elise Stefanik have already refused to commit to certifying the election. from the linked Hartman report First, Republicans need to make sure they’re in control of the House of Representatives on January 6th, 2025, when the new president will be certified.
To do that, even though Democrats might have won enough seats to take back the House in the 2024 election, Speaker Johnson will refuse to swear into Congress on January 3rd a handful of those Democrats, claiming there are “irregularities” in their elections that must be first investigated.
That keeps Speaker “MAGA Moscow Mike” Johnson in charge of the House, so they can also refuse to accept the Electoral College certificates of election from a handful of states where they claim there are “problems.”
Then, regardless of how many votes Biden won by, electoral or popular, the House simply refuses to certify the electoral college votes of enough states that the minimum of 270 isn’t reached. Under the 12th Amendment, like with the election of 1876, that throws the election to the House, where each state has one vote.
While a majority of Americans live in a state run by Democrats, a majority of the states themselves are run by Republicans. Each state gets one vote for president in the House, and right now 26 state delegations are GOP-controlled, meaning that a majority of the House would simply vote to put Trump back into the White House, 26-23 (Pennsylvania’s delegation is 50/50). All totally legal.

He won't even need to bother trying any of this if he can just win outright. PLUS, while he may indicate that he doesn't need or want your votes, trust me, his ego still wants to win the lion's share of votes.
So don't make this easy for him by handing him the presidency; and as a bonus, you can piss him off by making sure Harris & Walz receive significantly more votes than him.
