Nothing nefarious going on! My husband and I just want to be able to track each other while we're in Europe in case we get separated. It happened to us in Australia where one of us got on the train, and the doors closed before the other could. Would have been nice to see where we were in relation to the other one.
Is there a family tracker you like, or a specific kid tracker app, or...? Just something easy and quick to access is what we're looking for.
Thanks!

We just share our locations on Google maps. But I believe you do need access to data or Wi-Fi to have a accurate location.
This is a setting on Google Maps. You will see their profile pic in a circle indicating where they are. I can zoom in on our house and see where in the house everyone is.

We use Life360. We don't pay for the premium version, just use the free one. Not sure what the premium gets you. You can make various groups within the app...So my ds has a group with his fiancée, her daughter, and the friend who lives with them. Then ds also has one with me, dh, and dd. I love it because when I know my kids are driving long distance I can keep an eye on where they are. Yes they're adults. But I'm still the mom who worries about all the crazy drivers out on the road.

Life 360 here as well. My two kids and me (they are 20 and 23) Nobody has to have it, but we use it now and then to touch base.

We use Life 360. We like to look in on DS while he's away at college, just to see what he's up to...not to make sure he's going to class, etc. I like knowing what he's doing and also that he's not just spending all of his time in his dorm or the library. It's been fun to see that he goes on long drives through the Black Hills or where he eats out at the most. It's also been a wonderful tool for us to keep an eye on him when he makes the 9-hour drive to and from school (especially when he had to drive through a big snowstorm going back after Easter break). He knows we look in on him and has never complained.
He had location sharing on with his old phone and I loved using Google to see where he was, but he never shared with me once he got his latest phone. I took so many screenshots of where he was during his trip to Europe in 2022--it was very useful when I made a scrapbook of his trip. There's so much junk cluttering my screen in Life 360 that I don't like using it for screenshots, but I have no other choice.
I will say, Life 360 not always 100% accurate. For some reason, DH can show up like half a mile away from where he is actually at. It usually corrects itself, but it's weird to see him some place completely different.

Life360. My DD watched me trudge through Spain. I didn't always remember to share my location through Google.

He knows we look in on him and has never complained. We have iphones and use the "find my iphone" app. When we moved to TN, my son would always call me and ask me to check the app to see where he was because he was always getting lost.

You can do it once and be done ( it always shares with reminders that you are sharing every so often). Or set for a specific duration of time (hours/days). No need to remember to share after the first time if you want it to be continuous.

Once I figured out settings, I thought I saw where it could be continuous. I assume, though, it cannot be done between Android and IPhone? Or is it strictly a Google map thing that can be done both ways?
