I’m looking for some waterproof shoes that I can wear when I’m walking the dog on trails. I have sperry boots but would like something cooler for summer, if there is anything. My feet do get very wet daily so I need something truly waterproof. Does anyone have suggestions?

I use Merrill trail shoes. I don't think they fit your summer cool though. Mine aren't hot to me but they are waterproof. When I think of anything cool for summer, I think of Keen or Chacos. You lose your waterproof though. Merrell Moab shoe

When you say "trails" do you mean like hiking trails with rocks and tree roots and whatever else could trip you up? or do you mean a groomed trail like a bike path or something like that? If the latter, then what about just a good sandal (Chaco's/Teva/etc)? Your foot would get wet but you could just dry off when you got home or back to your car.

We walk through woods and areas with tall grass and tree roots. They are somewhat groomed, depending on the time of year. Sometimes it’s wet because of dew and other times because the grass is squishy after the rain. ETA that I would be ok with a sandal if it had enough support and stability.

I have athletic shoes that are leather instead of fabric and they work well. I also have some Merrell shoes that are cloth and breathable, but dry almost instantly. I even use them for my water shoes now.

Anything with Gore-Tex is going to be waterproof. The problem with Gore-Tex is that it’s hot since the waterproof membrane doesn’t breathe. I suffer through the summer because I can’t stand wet feet. I wear Adidas hikers and they are reliably waterproof but hot and heavy.

I ended up ordering some Columbia sneakers that were on sale that are said to be lightweight and waterproof. However, the reviews I read said they were comfortable but didn't refer to how waterproof they are, so we will see. Thanks for the recs!

For situations like that, honestly I just wear Crocs with no socks. Yeah, your feet get wet but they won’t be hot. If I want my feet to stay dry I end up wearing some Western Chief rain boots but those definitely won’t keep your feet cool.
