Good morning.
sueg is likely checked into the hospital and all tucked in, waiting for tmw. If you're reading this sueg, then I wish you a good night's sleep. If you can't sleep ask for them to give you something to help.
Dh is in charge of his own dinner tonight. He's a good cook and I'm sure he'll find something. I'm laying low.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to today?
May today be calm, healing and comforting for those in need of help.

Hope you're feeling better scrapmaven and good thoughts to sueg. I've got a fairly slow day at work so I'm watching the Olympics this morning. I'm going to miss it next week as I've been quite the avid watcher this year. I really should get some things done around the house. I haven't fully unpacked from my trip last week although I finally did some laundry that needs to be put away. I'm making the spaghetti tonight that I was going to make last night and I'll take some to my parents. My mom saw the doctor yesterday for her o2 levels and they think she might have a bit of pneumonia in her lungs so they gave her an inhaler and an antibiotic. She also had a chest x-ray so hopefully we'll get the results back from that soon. Thanks to everyone who sent good wishes for her. Hope you all have a good day!

How are you feeling today, scrapmaven? Thinking of sueg today and hoping all goes extremely well. I came through my chemo yesterday without a scratch. Felt totally fine, none of the symptoms I had last time, was just tired and sacked out on the sofa the rest of the day. Slept fine and still feel good. Hope it continues to be a breeze like this. Thanks you all for the good thoughts yesterday. Dinner will be rechauffe pizza or else there’s a little rechauffe Italian beef which I made over the weekend. I need to make more now because I forgot to save some for my DS who was the one who requested it in the first place … gave most of it away to sister’s and gentleman friend’s households. OOOOPS, maybe my kids are right and I AM getting senile.

Good Morning my friends! scrapmaven How are you feeling? I hope you are resting and trying to relax and enjoy the downtime. sueg sending prayers for you and your DH as you both have a few stressful days ahead. I think the pup is missing my GS. She's carrying around a sock of his that was left here in the past and ended up in her toy basket, she dug to the bottom to find it, she hadn't chewed on it for a month or so. She has also started following us up the steps, I'm almost confident enough in her potty training that she'll have free reign soon. I've been working at the kitchen table when her and DH are home, but I'm ready to be back in my office upstairs full time! I want to be confident that she will let DH or I know when she has to go out. She's done amazing and sits at the backdoor or gets "bitey" when she wants our attention. Dinner tonite is one lonely chicken breast and one steak that DH brought back from the ranch, I also have some asparagus and a salad. Wishing everyone a great day!

Woohoo!!!! Just got the news that my scan is clear with no activity and I am so relieved!!!
The call was from my gyne onc's office. I left him a copy of the scan Mon and wasn't sure if he'd be able to review it before Thurs (the day he is usually at that clinic) but he did!! I'm not even sure if my medical onc will have received the report yet, but they did put a stat request on it so hope she has the details when I see her this afternoon.
Planning to suggest DH pick up Thai to celebrate!!!!

we are about to go over to visit my brother and his wife (the one with terminal cancer). their son is also up for the week.. he dropped by last night.
the chicken was very good, but cooked much faster than usual.. I think cause of the altitude here (6000 ft).
leftover chicken for dinner tonight I think not sure what else is happening other than laundry. more smoke today than yesterday.

Slept fine and still feel good. Hope it continues to be a breeze like this. Thanks you all for the good thoughts yesterday. Well this is good to hear. I'm glad this isn't just totally kicking your ass. But taking a nap when you need it is good. scrapmaven how are you feeling today? sueg wishing you the absolute best of luck. Prayers for you and your surgeons. I told Jeremy I was making pasta with tomatoes and zucchini (both from the garden) last night and he was like, well I'm ordering tacos. Then I said, not so fast... If you are having tacos, you bet your butt that I'm having Mexican food too. So we went out. I had some bean tostadas. And a few doors down, we noticed there was an African/Caribbean food market. So we went inside and I got a handful of things. I had to try the African yellow beans. They look a little similar in size and shape to a chickpea. So I spent my evening youtubing videos of African cooking videos. I'm pretty excited to try this. Then I read quite a bit in book 7 of the Harry Potter series. So I stayed pretty much offline last night. Tonight I will make that pasta as I've got to use up the tomatoes. Today has just been one thing after another at work. Just when I think I'm caught up something else comes my way.

Thank you ladies. I'm knocked out today. I will likely be dozing and watching tv. Honestly, this is the small stuff and I won't complain anymore. bc2ca , that's very good news, indeed. Celebrate your good news. Enjoy your Thai food. I'm relieved to have read your post. lucyg , that you feel good after chemo is great and I'm sure a big relief. How is your gentleman friend? Do whatever you want to do this week and have fun. ntsf , I'm thinking of you and your sil today. Tearisci , please let us know what the scan shows. I hope that your mother feels much better quickly and that the antibiotics work fast.
jeremysgirl, did you buy some interesting spices, too? I'll look forward to seeing what you make w/your new ingredients. Book 7 is intense. Enjoy it. Work will be done before you know it and then you can finish your book.

This is what I got scrapmaven. I also need to go back because I need a Kenyan spice called royco. I know they had it there but I wasn't aware I needed it. I do. The semolina was a steal at this market. I prefer semolina for pasta making.

Yahoo!!! for awesome scan results and chemo treatments. Great news.
I took my mom for her needle in the eye this morning and because she can’t drive for the day, I will pick her up to take her to her hair appt this afternoon. I’ve been packing for our short trip. We will leave tomorrow around noon or so and it’s a 4 hr drive, maybe longer as we will be pulling a trailer with 2 ATVs on it. This is the first time we’ve been away since before Covid so I’m excited. It’s also the first time we’ve left Walker overnight. My mom will stay with him and love him to pieces.
I got my mammogram results back today and “there is no evidence of breast cancer”. I will have another one in 2 years.
Supper will be ground beef with peas over a bed of mashed potatoes.

So much excellent news for so many of you, and sending best wishes to everyone. scrapmaven , I had a dream the other night that we took a picture together... never mind the fact that my brain has no idea what you look like! Really not a whole lot to report on this front. Just working and I've been listening to audiobooks as I work to try to get my want to read list to be more manageable because I may need to live to 108 to finish it... I felt a little crummy earlier this week, but it's just the same old ear pain I always have. I'll set up (another) appointment if I think it's getting worse. What a pain. Dinner this week is the new to us da Vinci chicken recipe. DH says he likes it, so that's a plus in my book. He and I have also been talking about taking a one-day trip to NYC. Given that he has nearly 30 days of leave time accrued, I need to pester him more about when...

Sounds like we have good news all around today. So happy for those of you that are getting good results and feeling good!
I am home today just putzing around. Watching some Olympics, doing a little cleaning and reading. We had a cold front come thru last night so it is only in the upper 60's right now. Need to get out for a long walk.
DH is meeting his siblings for dinner tonight so I am on my own. I will probably just cook up a batch of vegetables that he would never dream of eating.

Good evening from the lovely Klinikum Großhadern. I was awake really early as check in was between 6:45 and 8am and we live 45 minutes from the hospital. All went smoothly and I was up at neurosurgery by 8:15. It has been a day of tests - blood draw, EKG, yet another MRI - and talking to doctors - basic baseline neurological test, anesthetist and my surgeon. In between, lots of waiting. I will find out in the morning what time my surgery is - being a major trauma centre, any emergencies will take preference, especially as mine is a very straightforward and not urgent operation. Lunch was nice - vegetable soup with wiener sausages and a lemon pudding. Dinner was basic German hospital evening food - dark seed bread, sliced ham and cheese, a small salad and a fruit yogurt.
It’s almost 7:30pm. My one roomie - who I think was an emergency intake - has just been taken to surgery, so I guess I’m on my own for the night! I’m going to read for a bit, then settle down early, as it’s a 6am wake up call tomorrow and my doctor will be in to see me at 7!
Thank you all for thinking of me. Tomorrow, I’ll be in ICU for the night if all goes to plan, so my next check in will probably be Friday.

I just got back from my hearing test. As I suspected, I need hearing aids in both ears. My appointment won't be until Sept/Oct as they are backed up. The audiologist was adorable and very knowledgeable to answer all my questions. Dinner will be Lombardy Chicken with corn-on-the-cob.

rymeswithpurple, I'm a dumpy, seniorish lady who is honored to have been in your dream. taylortroop, congratulations on the healthy mammo. Celebrate yourself w/something fun. cadoodlebug, just remember that it can take several days to a couple weeks to get used to wearing hearing aids, but once you get used to it you'll be very glad you did. sueg, you'll be in the hearts, thoughts and prayers of many of us tmw. May your surgery be easier than you think and may your recovery be comfortable and quick.

cadoodlebug - huge kudos to you for going and getting your hearing checked! I've been nagging my mom for months to do it, but she's so darn stubborn! And of course she's been giving my dad hell for decades about his hearing, but when the shoe was on the other foot, she wasn't out rushing to get hearing aids! Hope all goes smoothly sueg ! Great news bc2ca ! Celebrate!! I am waiting for a delivery and we lost power for an hour, so have been super unproductive! Lots of catch up this afternoon. Take care all!

Today it dawned on me that I have become more of a lurker than a participant here. I need to change that. Today I am working away at the office. I've been doing the boring stuff that I put off. Dh is off on a job and our son has been in and out of the office all morning. I am sitting here eating my leftover Kung Pao chicken for lunch. It is good but, spicy! Whew!!! Dinner tonight is chicken lettuce wraps. I will be solo tonight and that makes great leftovers. I went to the grocery this morning to pick up fruit and meat. They were having a buy 1 get one chuck roast. I can't believe that one roast is almost 30 dollars. But with that deal I thought 15 each wasn't too bad. Thinking of you sueg. I pray your surgery goes great and can't wait to hear from you after it is over. scrapmaven sorry to hear you have Covid. How many times is that for you now? Didn't you get that last summer while you were in Alaska? My husband has had it three times and I have had it twice. cadoodlebug a friend of my husband got hearing aids a year or so ago. It has made the world of difference for him. Before hearing aids you would have to repeat yourself several times for him to hear you or he would just smile and nod, and you would know that he had zero idea what you said. They are so tiny you can hardly see them. My mother in law refused to wear any and before she passed she totally shrunk into herself and didn't really participate in life. lucyg Yay you didn't get any side effect from your recent treatment!! and I am so happy for you bc2ca that you are clear!! That is such good news!! Enjoy your Thai food tonight! jeremysgirl I love that you are such an adventurous eater!! There was a contestant on a season of Top Chef that made a lot of African foods. The judges really loved it!!

I’d be celebrating too with that news bc2caGlad it’s a better chemo week lucyg The water taxi picked us up at 6:30AM for our flight home now just waiting for our connection in Atlanta. I cannot wait to sleep in my bed. So our initial reason for going was a family wedding. The wedding was so nice but I am not a fan of long personally written vows. It’s a personal thing. Some of the things said were just so cringy. The photographer stood in front of them the whole ceremony too so we watched her back. That is not a thing here. My sister said they’d better be amazing. Maybe tomorrow I can post some pictures. There is no dinner tonight. We’ll get home late and I’m not going to the grocery til tomorrow.

cadoodlebug: Hearing aids are life changing! I’ve worn hearing aids in both ears for the past 20 years. I’m 58 years old and have otosclerosis. I knew that I needed to do something when my dad died suddenly from an abdominal aortic aneurysm and I couldn’t hear a word that the doctor was telling us. I have very short hair worn above my ears and still lots of people have told me that they didn’t know I wore them. Get the best ones you can afford. Mine are rechargeable, connect to my phone and the tv via Bluetooth.
