DH & I have always found it remarkable that we never see baby squirrels--they don't come out alone until their "teen" years. The one exception seemed to be a pair that did nothing but play and chase each other all day. We called them "The Trouble Brothers," and we assumed their mother was deceased. We never saw them prepare for winter (maybe mom was out of the picture before she was able to teach them), and we never saw them in the subsequent spring.
