Unless you have a box of Kleenex, a big soft blanket and maybe some chocolate or comfort snack and your own sweet baby dog next to you!
I finally broke down and fell into the trap of watching A DOGS WAY HOME on HULU and I have to tell it a wonderful story but the heartbreak is real…. And that’s it for spoilers, I am still tearing up and the movie is over!
I am going to watch this one over and over and over, just when I need a really good cry for no reason and need to laugh at my own silliness!
Highly recommend!

I've seen A Dog's Purpose and probably this one too, and I agree. Good, but have the tissues ready.

I can't watch a movie if I know the dog dies. Can't take dog heartache. I refuse to watch any movie where the dog dies. That’s why I love doesthedogdie.com Years ago, I got cornered into watching Eight Below, having no idea what it was about. Talk about traumatizing. And I had recently lost one of my dogs. That movie still gives me nightmares.

Dh turned on the tv and saw that the first John Wick was on and he wanted to watch it. He said it was an action movie, dd watched those with him sometimes. None of us knew about the dog dying! Poor dd was so upset, it really threw her off that night and the next day a bit.

And, I think I'll pass on this movie.

Oh, I've seen that one. And A Dog's Purpose. Homeward Bound. Marley and Me. Good lord, I don't know why I do any of that to myself. John Wick! I was just watching that the other night. I realized it was at the beginning because he had just gotten Daisy. I turned that channel so fast!! But we use the line and thoughts behind the actions all the time. We have 2 dogs at the moment. Did have 3. Contemplating another rescue at the moment. Dogs are our life! monklady123 The pup lives and is reunited with her family. It does have a happy ending.

I loved the movie! I read all the books by W Bruce Cameron so I sort of knew how the movie would go. I thought the dogs were great and it really did follow the plot of the book. Yes, heartbreaking. But one I'll watch again and again when I come across it.

Ever since I saw Old Yeller as a child, I’ve had a policy of no dog movies, even if the dog doesn’t die. I have been known to start crying if anyone even speaks the words Old Yeller.

Two months ago we got 2 mini dachshund puppies. It’s been challenging, but I finally feel some joy in my life again. We are a three dog family and I’m wanting to add a beagle on once these pups are a little older. So, it’s a when to do it thing and not an “if” we do. Dogs are my life, my heartbeat, my everything. (I have a 🌼 Daisy dog, too!)

I refused to read that one as a novel with my class. I also got really choked up at Charlotte's web and skimmed that part as a read aloud. Where the Red Fern grows? No way. I feel like Phoebe on Friends where she finds out how book Old Yeller ends and get a bit dramatic.

My family’s story is that I sobbed when I saw King Kong in chains when I was two ( everyone has passed, so I don’t know how true this story is), and I cried during the opening credits of “Homeward Bound,” so I avoid any movies that may possibly contain sad scenes. Thank you for the warning.

I love that there is a site to let you know if a dog dies in a movie. I didn't know there was such a thing.
I'm still traumatized by the cartoon I saw as a kid, "Snoopy Come Home," and can remember the theme song and everything. Cried and cried that Snoopy was lost. Can't do anything with dogs dying or getting lost or sick. Nope!

My mother, in her great wisdom, thought taking me (an animal loving child of 5 yrs old), to her very first movie theater movie to go see …. Bambi. When the mother dies, I apparently had a total meltdown. We had to leave. Never saw the rest of that movie to this day. My mother never forgave me, and I never forgave her. Childhood trauma at its worst. That began my deep aversion to movies where any animal dies. But when the dog dies, that’s the worst.

What a sweet movie! I always love a good tearjerker, especially those with happy endings. I'd love to know how they made this movie. I'm guessing "Big Kitten" was all computer generated? The scenes on the frozen pond had me literally LOLing. And I'd love to know how they trained the dog to walk on 3 legs at the end - she was a good actress!
Overall, this movie is way more sweet than sad. Yes, there are sad parts, but in the end, all is well. The stories of who the dog meets, human & otherwise, along the course of the story really are well told. This is the kind of movie my kids & I would have watched on our Friday night pizza & movie night years ago. Instead, I texted my 24 yr old & told her she has to watch it. My son, now that he's 20, nope, wouldn't like it. His 8 yr old self however would've been right there on the couch with me!

I made an on the spot decision because I felt pressured. Everyone was already seated in front of the TV and they kept telling me “you’ll like it”, “it’ll make you feel better”. They were so very WRONG! Watching a movie about a reincarnated dog living with several families did nothing to comfort me. I’d just lost my 18 year old dog that I’d had since he was a puppy and I was grieving. When my boyfriend got home after work he immediately questioned the movie choice. Then he sat there holding me because my eyes were swollen from crying. He also drove my bike home that night because I couldn’t look at the empty basket without bawling. I still miss my dog.

A gentleman from work highly recommended Hachi as a great family movie. So, we all sat down and watched one Sunday afternoon. We all cried and vowed NEVER to take another recommendation from him. Cried ugly.

Amazing graphics and narration, but it needs a tissue rating, I think I used half a box. My poor big dog didn’t want to cuddle till the middle of the next day, I think I was hugging him too hard and too much!

I’m here having flashbacks of Mrs Newman’s entire 4th grade class sobbing at our desks in Montclair Ca, circa 1966.

Saw this meme and thought of this post:
"I can't watch a movie where a cat or a dog dies but I will watch a serial killer documentary where 27 people are murdered to relax me."
I don't watch true crime stuff but I'm sure some of you do.
