Good morning.
sueg, I hope that you're feeling well enough to quickly check in today and let us know how you are doing after surgery. I'm sending you healing thoughts.
**GypsyGirl**, how is your husband today? I'm thinking of you both.
Dh is going to hang blinds on our new windows. He's happily doing his projects and that is great. He deserves to have fun.
Dinner will be something of his choosing. I'm still taking it easy. At least I'm testing negative and feeling a bit peppier. By tmw I might feel human.
What's on your menu?
What is everyone up to this weekend? It'll be low key at my house.
Sending thoughts of healing to those in need and those who have loved ones in need.
Wishing everyone a calm, happy weekend.

I'm glad you're feeling better and testing negative scrapmaven . Looking forward to hear from sueg and **GypsyGirl** for updates. We're heading to the pool. I'll do my aerobics and DH will swim laps. Very invigorating! Dinner will probably be the Jalapeno Popper Chicken. TGIF everyone! The everlasting joke!

TGIF! Having a slow morning and catching up on some paperwork. Yesterday I finally got the dog dropped off at the groomer's. I had them give him a summer haircut and a good bath. He had begun to look like a wooly bear that stank to high heavens! He enjoyed his outing, especially since I was the one picking him up. His dad brings him straight home. I go through the drive-thru at McDonald's on the way home and we share a cheeseburger and fries. He may be DH's dog, but I am his preferred carpool driver! Will go to see DH after lunch, then have an event to attend at 6:30 pm. A friend is having a grand opening of his new storefront and I need to drop by on my way home from the hospital. Fortunately it isn't far from the house! Dinner will be the 'heavy appetizers' they serve there. **GypsyGirl**, how is your husband today? I'm thinking of you both. At 7:30 this morning they performed the tracheostomy and he made it through just fine. He should be over all the anesthesia by the time I get there around lunchtime. This is going to be so much more comfortable for him than the vent tube was. They plan to start working with him on Monday to begin speaking and building his muscles for swallowing. He really resisted at first, but once he figured out he'd be able to progress in other areas more quickly he was all in. Because of the procedure today, there won't be any PT as he has to remain flat all day. Thanks for checking in on us!

I'm still taking it easy. At least I'm testing negative and feeling a bit peppier. By tmw I might feel human. This is good news! But yes, rest up. Give yourself a little while longer before you bounce back into real life. At 7:30 this morning they performed the tracheostomy and he made it through just fine. He should be over all the anesthesia by the time I get there around lunchtime. This is going to be so much more comfortable for him than the vent tube was. Because of the procedure today, there won't be any PT as he has to remain flat all day. Thanks for checking in on us! I'm glad he made it through the procedure alright and is in good spirits. How are you doing? And I laughed about the dog liking a visit to McDonalds. Our old dog, Amelia, did very much enjoy a cheeseburger. My coworker is out sick today. Now, she's already had the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis, an ear infection, food poisoning, two sinus infections/allergies, a migraine, and Covid in the past 6 months. Anyone like to guess what is ailing her today? We will be having pizza for dinner tonight. Jeremy is having pepperoni, sausage, and pineapple with mozzarella cheese. I'll be having spinach, artichoke, and tomato with oatmilk cheese. I'm quite looking forward to dinner. I'm having last night's leftovers for lunch today! Yummo! The only thing I have scheduled this weekend is a girls night bonfire tomorrow with my friends, Kelly and Wendy. We haven't done a fire all summer yet. Some photos of us came up in a Facebook memory earlier this week doing just that several years ago and we were like, let's do it. Other than that? I'll just be reading and scrapbooking my Mammoth Cave trip in my traveler's notebook.

Hello everyone! I’m back!
The surgery went to plan, according to what the surgeon told DH yesterday afternoon. I went in about 10:30an and they called DH just after 4pm. I spent the night in ICU, which was not very restful as they woke me every 2 hours to check I was alert. I will say that the dumbest question they asked was ‘what day is it, and what date?’ It’s the middle of the night and I don’t have a watch on. How do I know if it’s still Thursday or if it’s now Friday?
I am not on too much pain, mainly a mild headache and pain in my right jaw. Because of where my bandage is (Sophia said the doctor didn’t give Oma a very nice headband) I can’t wear my glasses yet, so along with the headache, reading is difficult, so this post will be all for today.

sueg , so good to hear from you. You sound quite alert. Hopefully, you'll be transferred to a room where you can get good sleep. Rest well.
**GypsyGirl** , your dh has endured so much. I hope that the trach tube will enable him to finally, start his recovery.
I really like your meme today, cadoodlebug. enjoy the pool.

sueg , so good to hear from you! jeremysgirl your co-nonworker has a case of horrible allergies ~ to work!! scrapmaven , right as we arrived at the gym I realized I forgot my baseball cap. I feel naked without it. We were early and several people noticed I didn't have on a hat. About 10 minutes into the class, a gal from the front desk delivered a visor to me to use. Someone had told the instructor that I needed a hat. These people are amazing to look out for each other like that ~ especially a semi-newbie. I'll be keeping a cap in my bag going forward!

I'm moving slowly today, after being awakened 4x in the wee hours by tornado warnings & flash flood emergency alerts (Mid-Atlantic area w/TS Debby). Every time I got back to sleep, another one would come through...DH slept through all but one. He clearly sleeps more deeply than I do LOL - also the alerts were on my phone on my side of the bed, as his phone was elsewhere. I'm off work today and most of next week as we are in our last push to finish packing and get moved. Closing on the new house was yesterday. All went as planned. So glad it was yesterday and not today with all of the horrible weather! We still have sooo much to do to get ready...I'm not in panic-mode yet...but I might be by Monday. Yikes! Hugs and good wishes to all who need them and godspeed for rest and recovery post-surgery sueg. Dinner will be takeout of some sort for the next few days! Not sure what type/where it will come from tonight but we'll see what we're hungry for when the time comes. We wanted Panera last night (craving soup in all the rain!!) but that whole section of the little strip mall was without power.

Happy Friday dinner friends! I've had a couple of busy days work wise- it's that season again! scrapmaven I'm so glad you're on the mend and expect to be back among the living tomorrow! sueg I'm breathing a sigh of relief that your surgery went well, you've been on my mind, thanks for sharing your brief update with us! I hope the headache disappears quickly. I have book club this evening, my friend Karen is hosting this month, she's a great cook! The weekend ahead is busy, so no cooking, but hope I can squeeze in some crafty time.

So glad to hear good reports back from everyone! I'm a bit under the weather today. Last night was our wine club pickup party and I think I indulged a bit too much. We went to dinner before and had a couple of glasses of wine and then since we were at the party toward the end, they were giving us big pours. I believe I was pretty overserved Thankfully it's a slow day at work so I can rest up and watch the Olympics. I have no idea what dinner will be tonight. I may order in something even though I picked up groceries at lunch. Hope everyone has a great day!

tonight will be leftovers. going out in a bit to get gas and go to store--I am hoping to leave for my drive tomorrow at 6 am.
air quality better today.

And I laughed about the dog liking a visit to McDonalds. There is a long history behind us driving the dogs to McDonalds for cheeseburgers. In the mid-80s we were living in W. Africa and got our first Belgian Sheepdog puppy. We were in a country that did not have dog food available so the vet gave us instructions on what/how to feed her. So there I was, pregnant with horrible morning sickness cooking for a puppy! Just before DD was born we relocated back to the US and I got excited, thinking no more cooking for the dog because of dog food! HA! She absolutely refused to eat dog for weeks. We were in temporary housing, me 9 months pregnant, so we did what anyone would do....we drove through McDonald's every day and got her cheeseburgers! She did finally get used to dog food but she loved a cheeseburger to the day she passed. It was always her after the vet visit treat.

I am just back from some serious shopping. This weekend is the "Tax free" weekend in MA so DH and I went out and bought a new bed...made the jump from queen to king 😊 Of course that also involved new mattress and box spring. I was able to arrange things so the bed is delivered on a tuesday and the mattress and box spring on the next day!!! Sometimes the stars align!!! I am excited, although I will now need to buy new sheets. I think my quilts and comforters will fit fine.
DH is in charge of dinner...His idea...so he can run with that!!!
scrapmaven...Glad to hear you are starting to feel better, and are testing negative!! sueg..So glad to hear from you, and all went according to plan. Continued prayers for a quick and easy recovery💝💝💝 GypsyGirl....glad all went well with DH's trach. Continued prayers for him as well as you💝💝 jeremysgirl....I have no words.....At least she changes things up...never to repeat an illness🤣🤣🤣 scrappingwithoutpeas...Congrats on the new house!!! Sorry about your non restful night. At least you are all safe!

Currently sitting at ds' house while delivery guys build his new bedroom furniture. Our new bed will be delivered to our house tomorrow alomg with our new flooring for the upstairs. Should we have waited to buy a new bed until the floor was laid? Of course. Did we? NOPE! We are going from a full to a queen.
Dh and I are going to an Italian place owned buy a chef who used to own a German restaurant. So,I'll be having wienerschnitzel and potato pancakes. They have a creamy garlic salad dressing that is to die for also

sueg and **GypsyGirl**, I’m so happy to hear your good recovery news. Also the doggy/McDonald’s story. HA HA scrappinwithoutpeas, CONGRATS on the new house. Sister and I are going out for dinner tonight with mom. Salad would be a good choice for me, based on how I’ve been eating all week. In my defense, I lost 13 lbs in 10 days after my first chemo a couple of weeks ago, so I’m making up for it now. But that was all water retention that I’d already been trying to get rid of, so it doesn’t really count.

She said today she had vertigo! Darn, my money was on a shark bite. Vertigo is a little disappointing. Great to see you check in, sueg. I hope you get a new "headband" that works with your glasses tomorrow and a less disrupted sleep tonight. Hoping your DH adjusts to the trach, **GypsyGirl**. DD is the one who spoils our pup on car rides. Usually it is a swing by Starbucks for a puppucino (AKA cup of whipped cream) which they will give you even if you don't buy anything. At least our local store will. Very happy to see you testing negative, scrapmaven. The best thing about moving near family is the quiet visits, bklyngal62. Hope things are dried out before your move, scrappinwithoutpeas. Safe travels tomorrow, ntsf. As expected, my surgeon lifted all restrictions and declared me "healed" yesterday, so I went to yoga this morning. DH is off visiting his mom, so I plan to build the 6 outdoor chairs he picked up from IKEA last weekend and maybe clear out half of my office while he is away. I've decided to paint it and then DH will put in the baseboards that have been sitting in the garage for 16 years. Yikes, that is embarrassing to see in writing. I'll paint two walls, shuffle the furniture around, then paint the other two walls and do a thorough purge before moving things back in. My dermatologist told me to get in touch when chemo was done as she has something to help with hair regrowth. The earliest appointment I could get was Nov 25th. I told the scheduler that I was hoping I wouldn't still need help in late November. After checking with the Dr., she squeezed me in this month. Sushi is on the menu for dinner.

Thanks for the well-wishes! Yes, the forecast for moving day is dry, sunny, and relatively low humidity.
ETA: The new house is much closer to one of DH's sisters, so I do hope to get to see her and their family more often!

jeremysgirl , she has vergtigo today because she's in the V section of her medical book. karenlou , What did you buy? If you didn't buy a Sleep Number or other adjustable bed, please go back and do so now. I love my Sleep Number bed so so much. littlemama , what about you? What did you buy? cadoodlebug , that's such a sweet story about your cap. I like your gym friends. scrappinwithoutpeas , congratulations on closing escrow. Your move will be done in a week, but it's a lot of work. You'll be happy once you're settled in your new home. bc2ca , please ask your dematologist about Nioxin and see if that will help you w/regrowth. Costco used to have deals on it. It's shampoo and conditioner. May you be done w/being a patient and back to feeling good. ntsf , safe journeys. lucyg , you have permission to eat and enjoy delicious meals. Judy26 thank you and ROTFLOL!!!!! Perhaps @jermeysgirl should start a GoFundme for her coworker who must spend so much money trying to be sick.

I'm glad you're starting to feel a bit better scrapmaven . And it's great to hear from you sueg , I'm glad your surgery went well. I look forward to hearing from you again when you can pop your glasses on. jeremysgirl I think you need to get a bingo card going, so we can guess what your co-(non)worker's next affliction might be. My money is on RSV, or an ingrown hair. Dinner was a charcuterie board that DSO put together. We each got a $50 voucher from DSO's brother for Christmas for (what we thought was) Aummans Deli. So last Sunday we drove to the deli and bought a ton of nice stuff like cheeses, fennel salami, dips, crackers etc, that we wouldn't normally buy. What a nice treat! Our bill came to $120, okay great, we only have to pay an extra $20. We handed the vouchers over, only to discover that they are actually for Aumanns Garden Supplies, not Aumanns Deli! How embarrassing! So we had to fork out $120 on stuff that we really did not need to buy. But anyway, it made a nice simple dinner for us!

We ended up at Bob's Discount Furniture which started popping up when the big local chain went under. Im reserving judgement as one part of ds' bed wasnt constructed correctly- the delivery guy knew it and got Customer Care on the phone. I should have checked all of the drawers because the top drawer on the chest wont open or close. So, in 2 weeks, they are coming out to make things right. I had already told dh to make sure everything works when ours is delivered. No clue why I didnt do the same. Anyway, Bob's has their own mattress brand, but they are made by King Coil. We dont like Tempurpedic and we dont like Sleep Number- we have never had either, but from what we know neither of those would suit us.
