Hi everyone! I'm sitting in a pitch black hotel room playing on the laptop after already spending 45 minutes in the hot tub and another 45 having some breakfast in the restaurant ... remember, I don't sleep ... this sharing a room with people (aka dd's) is knarly! I kept them awake most of Friday night they said so I double dosed myself with my sleep meds hoping that would make last night better ... nope ... still awake waaaaay too early We've decided that next time we do a "Staycation" we will book two rooms. Yesterday was a day of complete relaxation ... we had breakfast, had three spa treatments each, ordered room service lunch ... went into the hot tub and then chilled until it was time to get ready for dinner We walked to the restaurant which is situated on the 40th floor of an office building ... the views are amazing! (btw it's called Major Tom) ... it's one of the top five restaurants in Calgary and the service and food were excellent ... we were there at dusk so the lighting was magical! Some photos: Looking super relaxed after our spa treatments! Molly, me and Emma at Major Tom My babies!!! Room Service dessert at 11pm! Me in the hot tub at 5:30 am today ... had the entire pool area to myself ... heaven! I'll wake the dd's up in about 15 minutes so that they have time to go to the hot tub too! We have a reservation at noon for Afternoon High Tea! ... and then we call an Uber and go home ... sigh! It really has been the most excellent of times (other than the sleeping part) ... this will definitely happen again ... maybe even here at Fairmont Palliser ... I can't see any other local hotel coming close to the standards of this one. OK! Moving on! How is everyone feeling? scrapmaven? sueg? lucyg? ... grrrr, I know I've missed some people! How is your dh **GypsyGirl**? I have no idea what dinner will be ... the chances of me cooking are slim to none! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Aww...I'm so glad you guys had a nice time leannec! The pics are great and the restaurant sounds amazing. What did you eat? I'm quilting this morning. Unfortunately I could not seem to locate my extra fine pins. And well I'm low on thread. So I went to Joann's. And I found a camping no see fleece throw kit on the sale rack!!! I'm going to put that together and then we can have a blanket that will be good around the fire. But I need to get back to my Christmas quilt. That'll be for later when I'm tired. We are having pizza again for dinner tonight. We had way too many toppings leftover from our Friday night pizzas to let them go to waste. So pizza it is. I'll have mine with spinach, artichokes, and tomatoes. Plant based cheese. Jeremy will have pepperoni, sausage and pineapple. That's all I'm up to today. You guys have a great one!

Leannec...Love seeing the pictures of you and your girls.....Sounds like you had an amazing time...aside from the not sleeping thing😱 I too want to know what you all had for dinner???
I am just back form a couple of errands one included a Costco stop for a rotisserie chicken, Timed that stop right at 10 when they opened...in and out in 15 minutes, would have been quicker, however some people got in my way🤣🤣🤣 I am enjoying the quiet here as DH is out for the morning...I am doing the laundry, Sunday is bed sheets and the towels, along with a load of darks almost done...
Dinner will be that chicken from Costco, and a salad, DH can have potato salad which I made yesterday.

I made Italian beef again yesterday. (I made it last weekend, but gave most of it away, and forgot to save some for DS who requested it in the first place.) So I will have some of that tonight with mashed potatoes, maybe? We have lots of veggies to choose from. My visiting sister is impossible to feed because she is vegetarian at the moment (subject to mood), taking Ozempic and has a long list of things she doesn’t want to eat, and only wants organic. She is in charge of feeding herself. Based on the contents of my fridge, her entire diet appears to consist of Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and peanut butter. If you think I sound bitchy, please keep it to yourself. On the plus side, we are managing to get some of my craft hoard cleared out. Your weekend sounds fabulous, leannec. I’m sure your girls have loved it. And I’m feeling fine. Thanks for asking.

Hey all - hope you're having a good weekend. I hear you on trying to share spaces as an insomniac leannec - it's rough! I have actually been sleeping a bit better last few months, not sure what's up with that, but no complaints! I think I'm finally catching up, so hoping to have some relaxation this afternoon! Husband's making some pizza so that'll be nice. I only have a couple weeks until my son goes back for his last year of university! I'll be curious where he ends up!

If you think I sound bitchy, please keep it to yourself. Oh Nooooooooooo. LOL.
leannec, those desserts look amazing and so do the 3 of you. A spa day is complete nirvana. Your weekend sounds just perfect.
How do you feel during the day, since sleep is so evasive? A family member only needs 3-4 hours per night and he feels good, but it doesn't sound like that's the case for you.
ntsf, you had me at toilet lid. Dh is planning to replace the toilets at our other house and here. A more excited man you've never seen. He wants to get the toilets that do everything but serve you champagne. The boys think this is the coolest purchase ever. IT'S. A. TOILET. Can dh go w/you to shop for lids? He'd be in his glory. Is this a guy thing?
Thank you for asking about me, leannec. I'm better today and done w/the Paxlovid. It'll be a light day at home. I think I'm gonna order a new game and start playing. I'm still wiped out, so it'll be mostly rest. Getting sick on top of my other issues just knocks me out for a while.
Dh and Ods had Japanese food last night. The portions were enormous, so I will not be cooking tonight and probably tmw, either. DH has chicken tonkatsu don, a breaded chicken, egg and rice dish. They also ordered a chicken w/rosemary salt for noshing. So, we have a fridge full of dinner and ds is leaving anyway.
sueg, I hope that you're feeling better today. How are you feeling?
May today bring healing to those in need, fun to those who need some playtime and happiness to all.

Happy Sunday to my dinner friends! leannec I am so glad you shared your weekend with your daughters. Looks like such a lovely time! Next time I am in Indiana, I'm going to take my grand daughters to do something similar. I may have to two and two. :-) jeremysgirl I love the magic pins I have, worth the extra $ I can't wait to see your progress! I ended up being very lazy yesterday, took a long nap and watched a movie, met a friend for dinner and had a great time catching up. So far today, I'm tinkering around the house, doing a few small tasks. I'm going to a play this afternoon with two good friends. this afternoon and hope to come home and have a couple of crafty hours before the weekend slips away. Dinner will be the leftover Charred veggies and grilled chicken breast from last nights dinner out. Wishing everyone an awesome day ahead filled with exactly what you want it to be!

Your photos are lovely and I'm so glad y'all had a wonderful time leannec ! DH bought new toilet seats when we moved up there and I love that he got the soft close ones! All seats are NOT created equal! DH and I walked the trail near us today so I got my heartrate up quite a bit. Now I'm cooling down. We did see a cute cottontail hop across the path. Tomorrow I am a co-host for Crazy Rummy and am in charge of bringing sweets. I'm taking 2 batches of pralines, homemade lemon bars, some Ghirardelli chocolates and some dark chocolate covered almonds. Another gal is bringing the savory/salty fare. Dinner is up in the air ~ maybe grilled flank steak.

Happy Sunday! I'm having a super slow morning here. I need to make a run to HEB to get milk and pick up an Rx, but that may well be pushed back to tomorrow morning. DD is doing the morning visit with DH and I won't be going up until after 2 pm. Not wanting to leave the house any earlier than I have to! The fact that the heat index is already at 100 at 10:45 am is definitely contributing to that. Had a great visit with DH yesterday. He's still not allowed to talk yet post tracheostomy so he's still having to use the whiteboard, because apparently I suck at lip reading. They also removed the restraints yesterday so he was really happy about that! Every day when I visit I am applying cream to his hands and feet, as well as his face. Yesterday DD decided to take it a step further and did an under eye treatment after I left. Said the bags under his eyes were too much. She sent me a before/after photo and I had to laugh because his expression in the before looked like he was being held hostage. He's a good dad to put up with all that! Tonight will be the rechauffe I didn't eat last night. Last night I ended up picking up a deli chicken and some fresh corn on the cob. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday! Stay cool everyone! He wants to get the toilets that do everything but serve you champagne. Go for it! We had our toilet replaced this spring with one like this and it is fabulous! The seat warmer and adjustable water temp are my favorite parts. Ours is a Toto. Only problem is now when I use the guest toilet I have to remember that it isn't going to salute me and raise the lid! The fleece quilt will be a fun, quick project - a palette cleanser between more detailed projects! Good luck at finding your extra fine pins. Wish you were closer because I have every kind of pin under the sun. I do second the recommendation of the Magic Pins though.

our bathroom was remodeled about 10 yrs ago. currently, the switch to the main light seems to be stuck.. so will take off the plate and see what is happening.
the toilet seat broke at the hinge. dh is in idaho. so I will go down to lowes and see if I can find a replacement. it is not a hard repair. I am picky about toilets. I don't want a high one..because I am very short and want to be able to put feet flat on floor. when we got this toilet, we miss measured the sink cabinet and the contractor had to shave 4 inches off the back of it. our bathrooms are tiny--old house. dh has no real opinion about the toilet. I put the same kind in our condo bathroom. (which is even smaller.) things keep falling apart and dh agreed we will start seriously looking for contractors in sept to do our major major house remodel.

cadoodlebug , if you get mugged on your way to Crazy Rummy and all they steal is the desserts it wasn't me. How cute that you saw a bunny. Awwww. Another fun meme, too. austnscrapaddict , have fun today w/your friends. A friend got married almost 2 years ago and she is finally ready for me to make her wedding scrapbook. I'm excited to do the album. It's been years since I've done an album and I'm hoping this will inspire me to start paper crafting, again.
**GypsyGirl**, you could be just tired from all of the back and forth trips to the hospital and the emotional stress. If you need to take a day to chill then please do so. Put your oxygen mask on first.

Good evening again
I have to say I am amazed at how well I am feeling only 3 days after such a major surgery. Today, the big bandage on my head came off, which relieved a lot of pressure. They also took out the last drip line, which I am really happy about as it was in the side of my neck. I am bruised all over from all the needle sticks! The doctors came through mid morning and they took all the plasters off, so I got a chance to see the scar - it is really ugly right now but I guess will look better when the sutures come out. I also had the bliss of a warm shower and having one of the lovely nurses wash my hair - so happy as it was really itchy overnight. DH popped in to visit this afternoon and we went for a walk in the grounds and then he bought me ice cream. I may have slightly overdone it, as I then napped for a couple of hours.

Aww...I'm so glad you guys had a nice time leannec! The pics are great and the restaurant sounds amazing. What did you eat? I had this amazing spaghetti and seared scallop dish ... oh, and oysters as an appetizer!!! Leannec...Love seeing the pictures of you and your girls.....Sounds like you had an amazing time...aside from the not sleeping thing😱 I too want to know what you all had for dinner??? Last night I had the above pasta dish and both dd's had steak frites ... Emma ordered a salad instead of frites and then ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes! She looooooooves mashed potatoes! How do you feel during the day, since sleep is so evasive? A family member only needs 3-4 hours per night and he feels good, but it doesn't sound like that's the case for you. I feel OK during the day ... probably just because I am so used to having such a messed up sleep pattern ... I don't sleep for more than two hours at a stretch - day or night ... I am definitely productive when I have to be but if not, I don't do a lot. leannec I am so glad you shared your weekend with your daughters. Looks like such a lovely time! Next time I am in Indiana, I'm going to take my grand daughters to do something similar. I may have to two and two. :-) Do it! Depending on their ages choose a hotel that has things that would interest them ... I chose this hotel because we wanted to be "fancy"! I also chose it because of the spa and proximity to great food ... it is downtown ... If your dgd's are young they might like a hotel with a waterslide ... if they are teens they might like one near a good shopping area ...

Happy Sunday! sueg I am so happy to hear how well you are feeling. leannec your staycation looks like it was a success. Your girls look so much like you! austnscrapaddict I am in Indiana. DH and I took a short trip to Nashville. We left early Friday morning. Spent the day walking around Broadway St and listening to live music. We went to the Chris Stapleton concert Friday night. Walked around yesterday then drove home. It was a nice quick getaway. It is just past noon and I feel like I have gotten a whole days worth of chores done. Got up to watch the USA volleyball, did laundry, took a walk and did some yardwork. Now to figure out something for dinner.

After our get away it was wonderful to sleep in my own bed last night! I never sleep well when I’m away.
I took my mom to get groceries this morning, did some laundry and now sitting on the deck with my book. It’s not like reading on the dock with the waves splashing but I still enjoy our deck.
It’s going to be a fairly quiet week but maybe DH and I will get out for a bike ride. The weather has changed and it’s much cooler with no humidity. Loving it!!
Supper is fajitas made with leftover pork chops.

It looks like a truly fun & fabulous weekend, leannec. We shared adjoining king & double queen rooms with the kids when in Portland last year for a wedding. It was perfect for my insomniac DH to get up and move around without waking the kids (I can usually sleep through him). I'm sure both the shower and fresh air did wonders for you, sueg. Your DD having a little too much fun with her captive dad, **GypsyGirl**. I'm sure he is loving every minute of it. DS sucked me into early Olympics again today, watching the women's gold medal basketball game, so I was late getting out for my walk and am still cooling down. My reward is going to a soundbath class at the yoga studio this afternoon. Dinner tonight is chili if I'm the cook. I ran it past the kids and DD whined that it was too hot for chili. I've told them they can make whatever they want but it has to use the ground turkey in the fridge. I'm 100% sure I will be the cook and making chili. I'm also 100% sure DD will make nachos to go with it.

Happy Sunday!
I've been at the hospital most of the morning. My mom has extensive scarring on her lungs that they found in the CT scan. They are keeping her for a few more days to run tests. The bad news is that it's a degenerative condition and she'll be on oxygen 24/7 now. She's pretty vain and had said she wouldn't do it if it came to that but she seems pretty resigned to it. I'm glad it won't be a fight with her and she knows she feels better with it.
I'm making chicken something or other tonight after I watch the final ceremony of the Olympics. I'm going to miss watching them.
Hope you all have a great day!

My MIL was in a car accident yesterday right after we left a bridal shower. She was on a 5 lane road (2 in each direction plus a left turn lane). The lane closest to the left turn lane was stopped, so someone left space for a guy to make a left into a shopping plaza. He didnt even check the other lane, just pulled out right in front of her. She T-boned him at about 50 mph.
She is sore but ok. We were at the hospital with her until 11pm and then I had to go to the 24 hr pharmacy to pick up meds.
You all know how much I love my Subaru, and this is why. She was driving a Subaru, which is probably going to be totalled (all of the airbags went off and apparently that is an automatic for totalling a car) , but she has relatively minor injuries. Had she been driving a smaller car or a car of lesser quality, this would likely be a very different post. So, if you can, buy a Subaru! They are amazing in a crash.
The other PSA is - MAKE SURE TO WEAR YOUR SEATBELT CORRECTLY. She was wearing the lapbelt part over her abdomen instead of at the pelvis. She has bruising of her abdominal wall that she wouldnt have if she had worn it wear it belongs. She got a lecture from the Dr when she first got there and again before we left.
And I dont know what is for dinner, we are exhausted. Already in lounging clothes and it isnt yet 3pm, so either something from the freezer or delivery!

@leanne I love the pictures!! What great bonding time with your 2 sweet girls!! littlemama how scary that car crash must have been. I’m glad your mil is doing okay. I’m currently laying on the couch listening to the rain. Dinner tonight is going to be something light and easy. Add me to the list of injured reserve. My back has really been bothering me. I went to see our primary care doctor last week. I am starting physical therapy on Tuesday. If I don’t start feeling better he is going to order an MRI. He said with confidence that he doesn’t think it has anything to do with my fusion.

The Birdhouse Lady, take good loving care of yourself and I'll think healing thoughts for you. I'm dealing w/a bad shoulder. I finally cried uncle and called my orthopod in hopes of getting some PT. We can be healing buddies.
