Good morning.
sueg , I hope that you rested well last night and feel even better today. **GypsyGirl** , did you get some rest? It sounded like you needed a day off, yesterday.
I have an appt. Then I have my first in person voice lesson in 2 weeks. I've barely practiced, due to COVID, so I feel for anyone w/in earshot.
Dinner will be more rechauffe from Sunday night's dinner for dh.
What's on your agenda today?
Wishing everyone a calm, happy and for those in need a healing week.

Happy Thursday! scrapmaven Today is the 12th I'm working from home this morning and then heading to the hospital after lunch. We haven't heard anything new this morning and they are waiting on the results of the echocardiagram they did yesterday. I'm hoping the doctor will come in when I'm there so I can get the info. My mom is hard of hearing and has problems sometimes understanding what they say so I hope I'm there when they come in. Dinner tonight will be a hamburger gnocchi dish I've been wanting to try. I'll take some to my dad later as well. Hope you all have a good day!

Have fun singing today scrapmaven! Here are a couple of final photos from our "Staycation" ... if any of you get the chance to do such a thing with loved ones or even on your own, do it!! The view from our hotel room at the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary ... we looked directly at the Calgary Tower! It was lit up with colour at night Emma and I being silly at Afternoon Tea yesterday ... so.much.food.! Super yummy and I brought sandwiches home and the rechauffe desserts went home with dd's! Not a lot going on here today ... I have a phone appointment with my doctor to renew a prescription in an hour and then I will pick up a few groceries ... My mum is coming over for dinner ... I think we will have Sloppy Joe's

How fun leannec! When I was married, we liked to play tourist in our own town and stayed downtown. It was a lot of fun and a nice change. I haven't done that really since I've been single but my sisters and I like to take road trips when we can.

Happy Monday. Still hot as heck here, but thank goodness for central a/c! Running out to HEB in a few minutes to pick up a prescription and some milk. I usually have a 2-3 bottles set back, but have none at the moment. Milk is a necessity with my morning coffee! Hope that sueg , lucyg are feeling better this week and continue to heal. scrapmaven - Enjoy your voice lesson! Glad you are feeling well enough to start those again. I had a pretty restful day yesterday. Only spent 3 hours with DH in the late afternoon, then came back home. With the Olympics over, I even spent some time in my sewing room and made one of those scrappy quilt blocks. Plan to do another one before I head back to the hospital after lunch. It's kind of fun to be making blocks with no end result in mind. I figure I get enough made at some point then I'll put them together for a charity quilt top. Sewing has always been a form of therapy for me and DH is encouraging me to prioritize it. Once again absolutely no clue what will be for dinner. Something light and easy though because of this heat. Wishing everyone a good week ahead!

Thank you for letting me know about the incorrect date, Tearisci. I fixed it. I hope that they get your mom back on her feet and home, very soon. ((((HUGS))). My dh wfh for many years. ((((HUGS))). leannec, I love the photo w/you and Emma. She has a good sense of fun. Those tea cakes and sandwiches look delicious. When you posted your other photos and talked about the getaway I was reminded of being a teenager and going w/my mom and sister to our city. We stayed in a nice hotel, shopped and saw a musical. It was so much fun.

I'm missing AquaFit this morning so I can prepare for Crazy Rummy and the sweets I'm taking. I'm off to Costco as I've decided to take a fruit salad too and need all the berries for that. Dinner will be pizza! DH and I will probably go swimming this evening, then read poolside. That's our staycation!

cadoodlebug an evening by the pool sounds lovely! 3/4 of our kids went back to school today. I am making garlic parmesan chicken tenders, roasted potatoes, salad, and garlic bread for dinner. I have a bunch of produce in the fridge that needs to be eaten so it's all going in a giant salad!

Happy Monday dinner friends! The play yesterday was so nice! It was Beautiful the Carole King musical- I think gray hair was a requirement to purchase the tickets! @strmst where in Indiana are you? I seem to recall that you are in Northern Indiana. **GypsyGirl** I'm glad you're making time to quilt. I need crafty time for my sanity too. When we first brought the puppy home it was a really stressful time for me, One evening as we sat on the patio with her, I was crying, DH asked what was wrong- I told him if he knew me at all he knew the 3 things I needed to keep my sanity are: My routine, a tidy and clean house and my creative time. All of which were off-kilter. it's gotten better but that was a rough patch. It certainly doesn't compare to what you've been thru with your DH- but I can mildly relate. Wishing everyone good and healing vibes! I need to make an HEB run today so I'll pick up something for dinner while I'm there.

DH and I made a quick trip into the city to do some errands. It was productive and we were home within 2 hours. Now I can relax.
Tomorrow is our 36th wedding anniversary! Not doing anything fancy, just a bike ride and lunch out.
Supper will be spaghetti.

austnscrapaddict we loved that show. Enjoy your lesson scrapmavenMaking something is so calming and satisfying **GypsyGirl**Spent yesterday helping bff with condo clean out. She gave me a bookshelf for my office but now I’ve got to organize all my supplies. Today I’m back at the studio since my trip. Unfortunately an upcoming show I’m participating in requires a headshot & bio due last week. So I think she may be here to do it. I hate that stuff. Dh wants to get something for his mom’s 80th birthday party this weekend. The group gift did not work out and there’s bad family drama so his oldest brother and wife aren’t coming. Good riddance as far as I’m concerned. The wife posted some anti-gay messages online Her stepchildren happen to be gay. Multiple family members called her out and dh’s pos brother didn’t stand up for his kids. He never has. I’ve refused to have them at my house for years. Dh also seems annoyed I do t have a great gift in mind. 🤷♀️ Dinner will probably barbecued chicken with roasted cauliflower and salad.

Remember how exciting it was to buy your first home and then how exciting it was to pay off your home? Absolutely! an evening by the pool sounds lovely! The best part is that in the past when we've gone on a Monday we have both pools to ourselves. And the adult spa! Nothing irritates me more than parents allowing their kids into the spa. But what am I going to do, walk to the front desk and complain, in my bathing suit.

Hi all, not much different happening here. I spoke with my actual surgeon this morning for the first time since he told me my surgery was over - the senior surgeons did ICU rounds Friday and they had the juniors on for the weekend. He’s really pleased with how things are going and said he’ll probably let me go home Wednesday. Just need to sort out details tomorrow. It works well as Thursday is a holiday here and DH will work from home Friday so I won’t be alone for the first 4-5 days.

teddyw I'm sorry for all the family drama and I just can't imagine willfully causing your children pain. scrapmaven enjoy your lesson leannec Cute pix. littlemama saw your post from yesterday. I hope your MIL is doing ok today. What a scary accident. DS starts his new job today getting training. I've been slower than usual the last few days with my back. Still in PT for it and my wrist. My wrist has been doing better. Our garden is overflowing in tomatoes. But dinner will not include them today. I seriously can just snack on them though. I will make pork stir fry with veggies from the garden. sueg glad to hear the great doctor's report!

I worked my night last night and did a lot of clean-up from a busy day/evening. Picked up couple things at the market on my way home. Dinner will be the rotisserie chicken I got yesterday at Costco, corn and a salad...I just picked a bunch of grape tomatoes, so those will be going in the salads along with a cuke, and arguella my neighbor gave me.
Cute picture leannec!! sueg, I am thrilled to hear you continue to do well!!

so this morning, I didn't have electricity to a plug and fridge.. flipped breakers, tried the reset on the plug.. dh finally suggested holding down the reset on plug for a while.. and that worked. need to install toilet seat this afternoon. hired handyman off app to come and fix the hinge on the bedroom door.. it came off the jam. seems like my life filled with fixing up stuff!!
remembered that dd has her annual meet with social worker today at our house.. and he is 1.5 hours late at this point, so don't know what is going on. I know he takes the bus and doesn't drive. may have to reschedule it. he is a nice guy so I am just concerned.
dinner is in the "what are we eating, I don't know" phase. salad and something. and we have strawberries for dessert. maybe teriyaki sauce over left over chicken.

the 3 things I needed to keep my sanity are: My routine, a tidy and clean house and my creative time. I can so relate to this. My family has truly stepped up and been amazing through the last year but it became very obvious, very early that I was carrying the tidy & clean house load around here. Most of the time it's not a big deal and everyone pitches in when I ask. But if I don't ask, things can fall apart quickly. I may have had a little hissy fit that dissolved into tears over the state of the kitchen after a week. I'm so sorry to read about your MIL's accident, littlemama, and glad it sounds like she is going to be okay physically. I'm sure it will take a while for her to trust other drivers on the road again. Ugh, on the back giving you problems, The Birdhouse Lady, but keep sharing photos of that little imp, Hudson. I hope you get some answers with what's going on with your mom, Tearisci. Does your dad do okay on his own? What great news, sueg! It will be so nice to be home and have a few days with your DH home, too. Ugh, on your BIL & wife, teddyw. Seriously, what is wrong with some people? For my MIL(91), we try to pick up a gift from the Greek church/festival (olive soap, lotion, etc.) because she likes something physical and then take her out for dim sum. We once bought her a wheeled shopping cart after a neighbor told us she was stopping to rest halfway home from the store but that did not go over well. Why would we buy her something for old people?! Enjoy your voice lesson, scrapmaven. As someone who was once told by a sibling that I shouldn't even sing in the shower by myself, I am very envious of everyone with vocal skills. I was out earlyish for a dental cleaning and happy to hear things are looking good (I'd been on a 3-4 month cleaning schedule and now back to 6 months). For my next cleaning I'll be on Medicare and DH & I have to decide whether we are going to pay as we go for dental or get coverage of some sort. We are going to have an easy vegetable stir-fry with optional Thai chicken meatballs. Only decision is if it will be with rice or noodles.

leannec what is on top of the Calgary Tower? I assume a restaurant? (Yes I could google it, but no I'd prefer to ask here.) It was Beautiful the Carole King musical- I think gray hair was a requirement to purchase the tickets! Ha! I went to a Carole King and James Taylor tribute concert the week before last, and yes, there were quite a few grey heads there. I think I might have been one of the youngest, at 'only' 56yo haha! Because I have been training our new employee, and not getting home from work until after 7pm, I haven't been to MIL's for dinner since 7th July. Luckily she has been sending a plate home with DSO each week. MIL messaged me on Sunday to say that she was making corned beef for me. Nobody else likes it except for MIL and I, so I knew I had to make an effort to get there. I asked the new girl to please come in half an hour early so we could leave early. I was worth it, yum!

Dinner tonight is bacon, eggs, and strawberries. I haven't left the house for days and that is all I have available for tonight. Plus, I don't feel like cooking anyway.
Tomorrow is my first PT appt. Hoping I can sit in the car long enough to get there. Ouch!
Other than that, nothing is happening around here.

The Birdhouse Lady , I will keep a good thought that PT really helps you feel much comfier. Do you have grocery delivery in your area? That might help. Maybe the delivery person can help you get the bags into your kitchen. I'm starting PT in 2 weeks. Today I got a cortisone/lidocaine shot for my shoulder. We can be healing buddies. My voice lesson was much better than I thought it would be. My teacher went back to school w/o letting me know. Not impressive. They switched me to a guy who is a tenor and just finished his MFA at a very prestigious music conservatory. He moved back in w/mom and dad to pay off some student debt and then he'll start auditioning. I told him that he should focus on NYC, but I know it's pricey to live there. He was stunned at the fact that I can go very very low. I warned him. I have a rare voice type and it makes singing sort of fun, cause you just don't expect it when you see me. Woohoo that you are back to 6 month checkups bc2ca . austnscrapaddict , I've only heard good things about Beautiful. It's great that you got to enjoy it.
