Our annual month-long sketch party, SKETCHtember is only a few weeks away! This has been, for several years, one of the most active months on this board as people take on the sketches and share their creations to inspire the rest of us.
We have a group of hosts excited to bring you a new sketch each day of September, and we are just starting to make plans. If you would like to join us in hosting, please PM me and I can add you to the planning team.

I am really looking forward to a month of sketches! They always give me a "quick start", even though I veer far away from literal interpretation a lot of the time. But Sketchtember is usually one of my most productive months because I'm trying to play with every sketch! Hoping some other peas share my brand of crazy - join us and spread the fun of sketches! If you only want to host 1-2 days of sketchtember, let grammadee know and we could slot you into the calendar!

I've really enjoyed Sketchtember in the past, this year September (and August) is all kinds of busy for me and I just can't commit to making samples. Hopefully next year...

I am looking forward to this. I hope it will help bring back my mojo and I'll be able to get lots done. I hope we will have lots of people playing along!

I hope we will have lots of people playing along! Me too. And as a host, I gotta get busy! Have identified most of the sketches I hope to use. Now I need to turn them into examples. I love SKETCHtember, seeing the new sketch every day and what the host has done with it. Fingers itching to take it on myself. But I think my favourite part of the month is seeing all the different takes on each sketch. So inspiring! Countdown is starting--first sketch drops two weeks from tomorrow...14 days...

As we collect/create sketches and put together our samples, wondering how you USE sketches? I find them most helpful in layering the background and placing clusters of embellishments. What about you?

I use them mostly for placement of photos and paper layers. My finished page may not end up looking like the sketch but they often give me ideas on how to arrange things.

I voted photo placement but I also use them for layering, embellishment placement, and general design inspiration

I use them to get out of my comfort zone, when all my layouts are starting to look the same.

I don't use sketches to build a layout but do use them as inspiration for how papers are layered, how photos are set up on the page, and how embellishment clusters are done.

I was torn between layering and clusters. I like to use sketches for the background, layering, and shapes/patterns—like ribbon end cute stars, stuff like that.

The poll only lets you choose one choice. For me I start with photo numbers and orientation, then add and subtract as needed. All the others are also important, but usually modified to fit what I am trying to convey with the layout. Looking forward to Sketchtember. Two years ago I used it to put together my Hawaii album, which is STILL not finished. This year I am in a position to play along again!

Hope your Sketchtember is a good one grammadee. I'm not very good at following sketches but do enjoy looking at them to see the possibilities. I voted "Layering" as I often struggle with emb. clusters. Over the years (20+) I've collected pictures of l/o-s that I refer to once in awhile. I need to use them more. Thanks for hosting Sketchtember.

Don't forget--SKETCHtember starts TOMORROW!!! No need to join a team to play, but if you want to join a Q-4 team, the sign-ups close this evening, so get over there now and sign up!
