4th of July just tramatizes her, so we give her "the good stuff" and hopefully she won't even hear the chaos. Anyone else hanging with a PTSD Pooch? And, happy 4th to all. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

My dog just get her 'happy place pill". I feel so bad for her but they set off our city's fireworks less than a half mile from my house. Hope all the pets stay safe at home tonight!

My poor sweet border collie used to terrorized by fireworks and thunder. One of the upsides of being senior citizen dog is, that she is deaf now and doesn't hear any of it. It was always so sad to watch her cower and shiver.
Hope everyone's pups doing ok tonight.

I don't know how my dog is going to react. Last year, his very first 4th of July, we were at my sister's house out in the wilderness more or less and there were no fireworks. This year I am home, and we usually get someone on the street that lets them off, even though they are outlawed now. I can also see and hear several city shows from my house. We'll see how he does. I made my one wanderer cat stay in the house all day and he isn't happy with me for that. I don't know how he reacts either, and I'd rather he be inside and safe. My other three kitties don't care if there are fireworks or not. They sleep through it all.

I guess I am lucky, my dog will sleep through the fireworks.

Awww, poor pups!! My pup is asleep on his bed as fireworks go off all around us. He's completely oblivious of it all. Hope you gals and your pups have an uneventful night!

We have the thundershirt on our little Pom and she is handling the noise okay, so far. We have a sectional, and she is laying in the middle, just raising her head a bit when one goes off. Normally, she would be climbing on my DH while shaking and crying. I hate fireworks.

Yes, two of the three here are nervous wrecks. I gave them some natural calming type pills and one has her thundershirt on but it's been constant for the last 3 hours plus on an off all day. It's going to be a long weekend. ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png)

Dog one, my older girl is not happy but so far not bad enough for "the pill". She is not shaking or trying to melt into the wall, but lightly wedged into a corner. Dog two is just seems annoyed and dog three who is the baby is oblivious. Just keeping a close eye on them.
Yay fireworks...

My little shih tzu is shaking on my lap, even in her thundershirt. These idiot neighbors of mine are letting off these stupid things that just make noise. I love real fireworks but these things that do nothing but make a big boom is dumb. ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/rpAaBAQhjSFZt4YtPRu4.jpg)

My poor Molly is terrified of the noise. It is still early here on the west coast so nothing so far. Once it gets dark she will be hanging close to us.

We adopted a 3 1/2 year old white German Shepherd exactly a week ago today. I wondered how he would do--he seems to not be bothered by it. I'm grateful. I hope your dogs make it through the night OK.

Mine are on the bed snuggled up with us hardcore. They're only afraid of thunder and fireworks when it's bedtime though-- I think they're straight up playing us. If there is something better going on they're perfectly fine. If they want some extra love? Oh lord you should see the drama. Ridiculous.

The TV is replaying the concert that was down at the Capitol in DC so I have that on VERY loud to cover the sounds of fireworks. It seems to be working okay, although she did try to cram herself under the piano bench a little while ago, so I turned up the sound even more. Problem is that I'm not enjoying music that loud, plus I want to go to bed soon.ugh

It's illegal here in NYS to have fireworks and I'm not sure how some of my neighbors get away with it.

Lucy is doing OK. Last year, I wasn't home for the 4th and she was in the care of a dog sitter, so she was home alone for the week. This year, she is expressing some 'concern' about the noise. She is laying near me, and sometimes coming over and sitting next to me. She'll look at me like, "Is this OK? Should I be worried? Should I bark?" Normally, this time of night in the summer, she'd be sleeping on the kitchen floor, laundry room floor, or bathroom floor where there is no carpet (cooler), but the last few nights when she's heard the fireworks, she's come into the living room with me (carpet, less cool.) She's not freaking out or anything, and thunderstorms don't bother her unless the thunder is loud enough and close enough to shake the house. Then she comes and sits next to me.

My bigger dog has calmed done and is in her bed. The smaller hopped on the couch and is cuddled up to DH. The dogs are not normally allowed on the furniture but tonight we will make an exception because of all the fireworks. We could have tranq'd them but we'll just cuddle instead.

Awww.....I'm so sorry for all the sweet fur babies that this holiday is difficult for!!! Our babies USED TO be very afraid, and they'd run to their crates and/or the dark bathroom for security! And I've been reading SO many sad stories of how July 4th is the busiest time of year for shelters, because of animals that freak out and escape ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) I have some friends and family who are dealing with terribly upset fur babies tonight....I dunno what MIRACLE occurred, but our babies were FINE tonight....no more running to their crates, no barking like in past years!!! We were ready to do ANYthing we could to help ease their fears...... Again---(( HUGS )) to all of you and your fur babies that were scared!!! ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/mYSUyHtG9Jrcmm_ydVcK.jpg) ![](http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y170/ScrappinToee/IMG_9277_zpseb32564a.jpg)

My poor little dog is so scared of fireworks and fire crackers. I live kinda rural and they are setting these things off all around me.
Last time this happened I gave her a little children's Benadryl and that helped alot. Tonight she wouldn't go for it. I tried to put it in ice cream and in cheese. Both things she loves but she wouldn't eat it.
So here we are as she keeps trying to climb in my mouth !! I'm going to have to take some Benadryl myself.

I am so thankful that our 3 month old puppy isn't to concerned with them since the neighbors all around are setting them off. Our other dog............didn't like loud noises, thunder nor fireworks. The cats could care less.

My old fellow is usually afraid of fireworks, but we gave him his meds early and he pretty much dozed thru them. We live behind the park where our city does the firworks, so there's no getting away from them.

my poor sweet Kitty has been under the bed for hours. I was able to coax her out with a sniff of her Tuna flavored hairball medicine (she loves the stuff) I was hoping I could comfort her but she's having none of that. 3 more hours of this at least ![>:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/superangry.png)
